Just moved to Santee sc and we visited Santee Seafood Bistro for lunch. I asked what the soup of the day was and the waitress had to ask the manager who happened to walk by. The manager said it was some kind of potato and broccoli with some kind of meat but she wasn't sure what it was. My wife ordered the flounder plate with 2 broccoli servings as her two vegetable choices. I had the fish and chips with my 2 sides broccoli and green beans. When our orders came I told my wife I did not know it was possible to cut fish. ( flounder and cod) so thin. It actually crumbled off the fork. My green beans were cold. The manager offered to reheat them I told her they had never been heated. She returned with a serving of 'hot' green beans that were left in the microwave too long leaving them too hot and dry to eat. Cheat me once, shame on you. Cheat me twice, shame on me. read more

We stopped by this roadside restaurant while looking for dinner. I thought it was a different one I heard was good. This one was fair at best. I would not return. When we sat down the table had water standing on it. They wiped it down but there was more water then from the stag, and they proceeded to put our silverware down on the wet table. They gave us two tiny pieces of cornbread about 2" to start which fell apart. They turned into crumbs. While waiting for dinner another patron stopped by our table and said they had been waiting over an hour for dinner. Someone forgot their order. The restaurant was not that busy. Portions of fish and shrimp were small. I had to ask for more cocktail sauce since they only brought a tiny bit. The French fries were so heavily salted they were inedible. The waitress never asked how dinner was. The drink glasses were very small so we needed refills often but the waitress was always somewhere else. Overall I would skip this place. read more

WOW!!!!! From the moment we bit into their hushpuppies, we knew we came to the right place. The hushpuppies were the absolute BEST hushpuppies we've ever had! It was like biting into a delicious cornmeal cake that had been lightly fried to perfection - heavenly. We even ordered more. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which could compete with any 5-star restaurant around. Truly delicious and well-plated. They served their shrimp and grits with fried green tomatoes and it was truly divine. My husband ordered the catfish and we were shocked when they brought out a 2 pound catfish that had been fried on the bone, tail and all. Even more shocking was how clean and delicious it tasted. You can tell their food is made with love and passion, which so many high quality restaurants have forgotten along the way. Something has happened here. I grew up going to Santee when this place was Tastee's. We went to Santee on a golf trip in March of '17 and the food was amazing and the place was packed. We just got back from a golf trip last week and went one night to this place. What a huge disappointment. Lots of stuff wasn't in stock and off the menu. Took us (a group of 7) over two hours to get our food. 5 of the 7 guys got fish and chips.... The staff was profusely apologetic and super kind. I get the sense this place is being set up to fail by management/ ownership. Our golf group has running bets on whether this place is open during our March 2020 trip. read more

We had lunch at Santee Seafood Bistro today while using the Tesla chargers just a short walk away. I had the fried chicken livers appetizer with a side of collard greens and my husband had the fried oyster basket. The chicken livers were lightly battered and fried crisp; delicious! I don't find them often and it's a nice treat occasionally. The collards were very good and a large enough portion to share. The oyster basket came with fries, and slaw plus they brought us a small basket of cornbread and hush puppies before the meal. It was all really good and the staff were all very friendly. Good food, good prices. We will stop again next time we're passing through. read more

We went here on Mother's Day #HUGEdisappointment. The server clearly did not want to be there and did not know the menu. We had Shrimp Scampi (BTW, no butter or garlic so not sure why it was called scampi) the shrimp was in a honey mustard sauce. The shrimp cocktail was good (mainly because it was precooked shrimp and they did nothing to it. My medium steak (see picture was past well done and full of gristle. They brought the steak without the fries and I had to wait 5 min. So hot fries and cold steak (just what you want for $16). He had the tin (like a boil). None of the items were cooked together, the were all boiled and had seasoned no thrown on them. There wasn't any crayfish in it, so we asked and were told they no longer put it in (maybe update the menu or tell the customer). All in all I was hoping Santee would have a cool new place to go, IT's not this one!!! Go to the Mexican place down the street. This pace is quite overpriced, pre-boiled, and poor service. read more

Do not waste your time! 45 minutes later we finally get Mac And cheese for kids. Then I go to pay and she says how was everything? I said well I never got my meal just box it up. The grits had huge chunks of uncooked grits. No salt or butter. Said they had no cream for my husbands coffee. Absolutely ridiculously bad service. Needs to be shut down!! read more

Great value for the serving size! I ordered the fried seafood platter and thought it was excellent! Light batter, fresh seafood with fresh collard greens. Ended up with peach cobbler, so good! This restaurant is a nicely restored bistro the service was slow but the customer service was Excellent. I loved the cornbread but it failed on several categories my husband ordered shrimp and grits. The shrimp was great the yellow grit sauce was an epic fail. I ordered the seafood plater the fried fish was old the refried crab cake was mushy with no flavor inside a crab shell and the side of cheese grits was the worst I've ever had not to mention the side of macaroni it was soured and smelled of old butter with extreme amount of yellow dye. The platter had 2 overcooked scallops 2 mushy oysters and several tasty fried shrimp I was disappointed because I had a very high expectations for this place. My father had fried shrimp which he said was excellent and I can agree because their was shrimp in the platter and it was great. My mother ordered the turkey wings which she said was excellent the slaw and fried okra was poorly executed. I'm giving this place another shot because sometimes we all have bad cooking days however I expect better. read more

To make it worse my wife found a huge hair in her food.. the waitress came and took the food and told the owner but he was not even decent enough to walk over and apologize. So on a whim we decided to try this place the day after Thanksgiving. First off the wait staff was accommodating, charming, polite, and attentive. On a recommendation we tried the fish tacos, 2 shrimps dinners, and shrimp and grits. Every entree was solid! Great flavor's all the way around. My parents and I went to this establishment in hopes of getting some really good seafood. That did not happen on top of the service being down right biased and terrible. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because it is Valentine's day weekend but from the time we walked in the door things went from bad to worst. We were not greeted in a welcoming way and had to wait 10 minutes to be seated there is no waiting area so we just stood in the doorway. When we did get seated the server seemed friendly and knowledgeable. We waited an hour for our food. Two guys came in 20 minutes after us and received they're food before us. When we asked they just kept saying "oh your food is coming next you're next "with no explanation or expected wait time. And when we got it it was under cooked. We just left this unique restaurant. What an incredible experience. It started with making reservations on the phone with Mallory. She was super sweet. We couldn't locate a menu online, so she took the time to give me a rundown of the top dishes and told me the prices and what all the meals included. We walked into a little dinner playing great 50/60's music. Mallory greeted us and was so pleasant. Our server Brittany was awesome! She gave us her recommendations and was very very attentive to our family. Also the girl who's brought out the food was super sweet. Great staff!! The food was AWESOME and very flavorful!! Just finished one of the worst meals ever. Arrived about 6:15 and was told they were out of cod, brim, flounder, fried green tomatoes..........so ordered a seafood platter. It arrived, eventually, cold and overcooked. If I hadn't recognized the shapes, I would not have known that what was on the plate was a scallop/oyster/shrimp. The unidentified white fish was tasteless as was the crab cake. The latter was mostly bread crumbs. My side cole slaw was drenched in mayo. Hubby's "cheesy grits" were cold, sprinkled with a bit of packaged shredded cheese and bland. The water we asked for had little or no ice and the plastic glasses were worse for wear. The waitress was very nice but stretched and so could not properly do her job. We had high hopes after an initial "just opened" visit where we encountered the same issues. Great stop right off the highway for a comfortable spot that is far from fast food yet still quick and easy. Very hospitable and tasty.
