Tried for the first time the other night for dinner. Very casual spot, order at the bar and given a number. Staff was all kind and attentive. It was packed, especially for a Wednesday night. It didn't take long to see why. The food is amazing! We got the scotch eggs and they were cooked perfectly and the mustard sauce paired well. The poutine was wonderful as well. The fish and chips, fish was fresh and flaky and seasoned well. The fries were hot and seasoned. My husband said the bangers and mash were really good also. Definitely will be back with the kids next time.

Super cute decor. Very helpful waitstaff; if you're not sure what you want to drink, they'll give you tastes and advice. The calamari was excellent, and the house made tartar sauce was just right. The berry tiramisu isn't pretty, but very tasty. The kebab wrap was decent, and the house made chips were good. Excellent service; we'll be back.

Stopped on our way to visit my grandparents and discovered this cute little spot. They have 16 beers on tap plus 4 cask beers, offering a large variety. The venue has a very English vibe and is a lot of fun. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. While the beer overall was a bit "meh" for me (I'm an IPA fan), I did find some hidden gems: Lady Embers for its smoky flavor, The Bramble for its fruity and refreshing taste, and my favorite--Bloody Hell IPA. We didn't try any food, but it looked good.

Good food and great beer. Stopped in for lunch. We were the first people in after opening. Less than 15 minutes later, there were over 20 people in there for lunch. Ordered at the bar and sat wherever we wanted. Bartender was nice. Liked the British food vs American food. Good options to choose from depending on the mood you are in.

I loved this spot I almost missed it but sure enough I seen the patio area and a kid eating fish and chip! They made our food so fast and their root beer went good with our food. My boyfriend's pulled pork sandwich was also very tasty! The workers were friendly overall I had a great time and loved stopping by!

First time in. We had been wanting to trying last time we came by they were closed. The inside is cute. Loved the decor. You order at the bar because it is a bar. We ordered the sausage roll which was very good. I was not a fan of the chips but over all very good. I had the fish and English chips. The fish was outstanding. My husband ordered the bangers and mash with a side of mushy peas. Again outstanding meal. My son ordered the Royale with cheese. This is why they only got 4 stars. The burger was lacking had they made it fresh it would have been great but he could tell it was a frozen patty. Over all it was a good experience. On a side note the woman who served us our meal was a little less cordial than we are used to. ** It's unfortunate that the business manager Ian only paid attention to the burger part of the review. Perhaps it was an off night for the burgers. Because everything else was amazing.

We dropped in on an overcast Tuesday early afternoon. The pub was quiet and we pretty much had our pick of table. Cute decor inside and the service was casual, friendly and helpful. I ordered the British fish and chips while my date ordered the Sheppard's pie. We had water. Our food came to the table in a reasonable amount of time and both were really good. We'll recommend this pub and suggest their happy hour specials too.

This is a great brew pub and restaurant. So many times you'll find a nice brewery, but........ no food. Santiam has it both - nice selection of beers and food. You have to order everything up front (no real table service) and they bring the food out to you. We shared a Shepards Pie and it was very good and enough for both of us. It has a nice wooden decor that is pretty comfortable. Good for groups or singles.

I was looking for a dog friendly spot to grab food and drink. Found this pub. They have inside and outside seating. You can sit outside with your dog, but you do have to go inside to order. Initially I wanted something else, but they were out of both items I wanted. I had the fried cod and fries and shared the Mac and cheese instead. The tartar sauce was lacking flavor, but everything else was pretty good. The Mac and cheese was cheesy. They have beer in tap. They also have cider. I had the cherry cider. It wasn't to sweet nor too tart. The girl that took my order was friendly.

Needed some hearty food after some wine and whisky for my birthday weekend. This hit the spot. The fish and chips were very good. The mushy peas were really disappointing. I wanted to love them and couldn't have more than a bite. Service was eh. I'm guessing that's the new norm, certainly around here. read more

Cute, open interior. Nice outside area with heat lamps. Beer was just ok, a little on the bitter side, even for me. Service was fine. Nothing to write home about. But I liked the location, kind of on the outskirts of town. Easy to stop by coming from Silver Falls heading north. read more

We've been looking for a local pub to call "home" since relocating from Colorado. We've found everything we were looking for in Santiam Brewing. Food-absolutely amazing. I am vegetarian and had the veggie pie. TO DIE FOR. Unbelievable. My husband had the classic fish & chips and said "this is as good as we had in London babe" The brew- DH tried a couple of brews he had a hazy IPA & a patio pale I believe. He loved them both. It's been a hot minute since I've been here (2019) and I can't wait to get back. This place is not the typical craft brewery in a box that every place that's opened since 2012 seems to be, think English-inspired public house instead. I've never been to Britain, but if I ever do get to go, I hope the beer and the food are half as good as they are at Santiam. read more

So I was super excited to try this place because the food looked like it was going to be amazing. Alas, we were very underwhelmed. The only reason it got 2 stars is because the service was friendly, the ambiance was chill, and the poutine was really good. Unfortunately the bangers and mash and the brewer's pie left a lot to be desired even if they were pretty. First, the pie crust was seriously undercooked. I could have handled the top being a bit under because the filling was really pretty good, but the bottom crust, I got a huge glob of uncooked dough in one bite and it kind of killed my appetite. Now the bangers and mash, the mushy peas had zero seasoning and neither did the mashed potatoes. All the seasoning must have been in the gravy and the sausage because both were seriously salty to the point of mouth numbing. All in all, I would say they had some stuff that was on point, but the bulk was not good. read more

We just had take out and it was one of the best take out we have had since the start of the pandemic! To start it was so hot when we picked up it made it home still hot! We started with Welsh Rarebit. A beer cheese and bread! Than we had a Cumberland sausage roll... delicious!!! Finished with a Cornish Pasty... a beef and root vegetable hand pie. Absolutely genuine and delicious! Thank you Santiam for the genuine and delicious food!!! read more

We had fish and chips, a Reuben, and an order of Scotch eggs. My reuben was a little burnt on the outside, but the inside was delicious. I still ate the whole thing..eventually. Everything else was excellent. The fish crust was crispy, not greasy, and the fish was perfectly cooked. As for the Scotch eggs, of which I had never heard of, they were delicious. Been wanting them again all week. We went on a Sunday afternoon, and the place was packed, our service was still very good, and our food was hot and presented well. I loved the wooden tables, and the stools weren't so high that my feet lost circulation from dangling. I hope we are able to get a booth next time, I loved that area. The Board room was like being in a cigar bar, but without the smell:). Loved the pub atmosphere. read more

It was so great to find this unique place, a little brewpub with British food, close to where I was visiting. The beer was very tasty and the fish and chips were fantastic, but we we were glad to we shared an order. Stopped in on a whim, good selection of beer they have some food on the menu but I did not try any. They have some covered seating and make it easy to order a flight or two and or grab some beer to go. The 3 stars is mostly for location, it is a bit hard to find and not the best atmosphere. read more

We are open for dine in, dine on the patio, order and curbside pick up. We are a 10 barrel Brew Pub and restaurant, with fifteen Santiam Brewing craft beers and ciders on tap, as well as varying guest wine taps. We have Great British Pub Food, From full English breakfast to Fish andChips, as well as All American Pub Food. We're located in the industrial unit on the corner of McGilchrist and 19th St. in beautiful city of Salem Oregon. Santiam Brewing also boasts a dedicated cask bar (at cellar temperature), with an additional four cask conditioned ales on tap from our beer engines. We have a live venue event space, with food and full bar. separate from the restaurant for live music, trivia nights, comedy nights, open mike nights and is also available for private events

History

Established in 2012.

Santiam Brewing Company was started by nine friends who met weekly at "choir practice" to appreciate craft beer from Oregon and around the world. Several of these friends were home brewers, with years of home-brewing experience between them. Some fantastic homebrews bolstered their courage, and lubricated their resolve to bring "choir practice" to their community, and Santiam Brewing was born. Impressive ingenuity and imaginative technical solutions allowed the "Santiam boys" to start a small 350 liter craft brewery at a fraction of the normal cost of a brewery start up, and now currently operating a 12HL (10bbl) brewery. 15 Regular taps and a cask bar with 4 cask ales on full time from the beer engines.

Turns out they're right next door, tucked back a bit from the roadway so easy to miss you and when you're sober. Glad I noticed it as we were driving off, as it's a great taphouse with a large number of beers on draft, in excess of 20 I believe. Service is very gracious, and you don't have to commit to official tasters, they're willing to pour you a little splash of several beers for you to figure out what it is you'd actually like to taste. That said, we opted to do an official flight of four IPAs, one of which was a hazy. All pretty interesting; ended up ordering a pint of one of them to share. Like a lot of tap rooms, they use the app DigitalPour to list their beers so you can check them out online if you like. We'll probably be back again. We didn't order any food while we were there, but what we smelled, and looked at appeared to be pretty good. I recently had the pleasure of savoring the fish and chips at a Santiam, and the experience exceeded all expectations. The golden-brown batter was perfectly crisp, perfectly covering the flaky and tender fish. The fries weren't too seasoned and cooked a beautiful golden brown. What truly set this fish and chips apart was the attention to detail in the cooking. The ambiance, was cozy and added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. This place is awesome. I spent a year in England when I was 18, and this is the closest I have found to the pubs I got to know there. The beer is awesome. I love the cask beers that are so hard to find in the US. The food is delicious. My go to is the Tika pie. The burgers are great. I haven't found anything that wasn't good. I had to search this one out, and it's actually tucked away into what feels like an industrial complex, but the inside atmosphere was great, even with some outdoors seating. Inside, it's got a cool wood indoor British pub vibe. Our waitress seemed super friendly and made a few recommendations for brews to try, which were all great. When I first walked in here I knew this place had something special. We loved all the different kinds of beers they have and the fact that they will let you taste anything before ordering a glass. All the employees there are super friendly and the food is great. I also enjoy hanging out in their lounge. This brewery is the first place I went before starting on my tour of breweries in the area. Super nice people working here. When the bartender overheard me saying that I needed some extra growler caps, she came over a few minutes later and dropped three off at the table. Thank you! I used them last week. Some of the beers we really liked, some weren't as great. All decent. Space is in a great location, but the furnishings could be a little more fun. One of the best local brewpubs in Salem. Food is always top notch. Most recent experience I had a burger and a couple of beers for lunch. Beer was fresh.
