    Bacon and pepperoni pizza

We tried this pizza place tonight because we got a menu in our mailbox. I wish they'd sent one years ago! Pizza- delicious. Gyros- delicious. Fries- crispy and tasty. I love that there are gyros on the menu for when someone doesn't feel like having pizza. Everything arrived hot and really quickly- within 30 minutes. Most places take so much longer around here. Definitely give this place a try! We'll be making ourselves regulars!

This was without a doubt the worst so called Italian sausage grinder on the planet

The wings are very good. However their sandwich / grinders leave a lot to be desired. The prime rib and sausage are an abomination to say the least. Bon Appatite

Lasagna with no meat and a little bit of sauce burned.

We got 2 terrible meals delivered for dinner at home. Lasagna had no meat and scant sauce, and salad did not come even though I ordered it. Steak and cheese wrap had one bite of steak and no cheese. They have good pizza but awful dinners.

    Buffalo chicken pizza...not a winner

All I have to say about this place is stay away from the #12 specialty...the buffalo chicken pizza. I've had this kind of pizza from other places and it was nothing like what I got from Santini's. I did not expect the sauce to be made up 100% of tear-your-ass-up hot sauce. Plus...where is the cheese? I couldn't even identify the chicken as chicken. It looked and felt more like sliced potatoes. Wtf? It's a good thing I also ordered a side of cheesy garlic bread or we would have gone hungry last night. I'd say I would try this place again but they don't even know how to make good dough.

I ordered a meatball grinder w/light sauce and this is what I got.

Neighborhood favorite! Traditional gyros are excellent. Pizzas always hot and tastes even better as leftovers.

I've developed a preference for New Haven style pizza, but I occasionally crave Greek style.

Bummer, as drove 20 minutes in terrible winter weather. I happened to notice the sign Retro next door. On a whim, I googled it. Great reviews. We decided to give them a try. Oh my goodness, the 4.9 out of 5 didn't lie. Out of 5, we give them a 7. Super cute, uber clean was our initial impression. Emily was behind the bar and quickly welcomed us in. We were their first customers as it had just opened. We told her about Taco Central being closed, no idea why and that this was our first time in. She was so friendly and explained pretty much everything about Retro, from it being family owned and run to what makes it special with recommendations and customer favorites. Her Dad is the owner, Gary and we quickly met him. He shared some history of the area, his background and really made us feel special, but what is special is the crazy delicious pizza we enjoyed. Probably the best pie we have had in the NE. Which is saying a lot. It's New Haven style pizza at its absolute finest. The dough, the crust, the San Marzano sauce (to die for), coupled with the cheese, and toppings. We built our own. Sausage (which he makes himself), black olives, mushrooms, hot oil, jalapeños omg!!!! The pie was so delicious. A tip, when your pizza comes out, let it sit a minute or two before grabbing a slice to let it jive together. They offer oregano, red pepper flakes, and Parmesan cheese to add. It's not needed but was so appreciated. They have apx 3 TVs to catch a game as well as tables. The ambiance is casual, retro and fun. Great date night, family friendly and welcoming. There truly wasn't one thing missing. Plus, they offer great wine choices in six or nine ounce pours at reasonable prices. But unlike so many restaurants, they have lovely long stemmed wine glasses. Great selection of beer, including local craft beers on tap and full bar. Go with complete confidence. I don't know if they have parking behind the restaurant as we parked directly in front street side.

Delicious thin and crispy New Haven style pizza without being overly charred. There were so many speciality pizzas to choose from and I can't wait to come back and try more! All of them were delicious, though if I had one critique, the cheese pizza was a bit greasier than I typically prefer - but it was still great! We loved the mandarin salad too. We will definitely be back and wish them the best of luck as they're still under 2 months old!

Picked up a pizza with broccoli and spinach recently. It did the job but I didn't love it. The…read morecrust tasted a bit bland cracker-y and the sauce and cheese just weren't anything to write home about. The broccoli was very small pieces rather than full florets. Pros- I liked that they cut the pizza into many small slices, and service was fast and easy. Of the three places I tried pizza in New Haven - Pepe's, Zuppardi's, and La Legna - I liked La Legna the most.

12.19.25 They only have take out, to go orders here…read more I'm a little torn & conflicted with this review. I've been here a handful of times and they're a little inconsistent. The pizza is good and consistent though. It's not awesome like it is at their West Haven store, but it's good. Good flavors & toppings. They do make their own sausage for those meatlovers out there. Where i fall flat are with their meatball parm grinders. In my opinion they're nowhere as good at the pizzas. They do fall short with their grinders. I keep trying them to try and end up with a better result than the previous time but it hasn't happened. So I'll stick to their pizzas. The last time the meatball parm was barely warm. It cooled off or they didn't warm it enough. The pic shows the mozzarella cheese has cooled. The pic was taken as soon as I got in the car to leave. "We all know our cameras eat first." The flavor isn't really there either with their meatballs. Other than that, the flavor with their pizzas are good. Tasty cheese and sausage. Don't forget the fox on park birch beer though. It's a must. Crisp & refreshing. The store inside is very small. It is very clean though. They only have medium 14" pizzas. I tried for a small and was told only the medium. That's totally fine. No issues with that. Service is fine whenever I'm there. What is don't like is that you don't get a printed receipt. Only text or email it to you. I don't go for that. I need to check my receipts when I eat out. You never know. And speaking of never knowing. Most recent visit, I was surprised how one meatball parm grinder and one sausage pizza came to $39 and change. But i shrugged it off and paid. Made sure i grabbed to go menu to check price. I went down the street and pulled over to do the bath with their menu. What I came up with is they charged me for an additional topping. Not cool. Not good. I called them to mention what happened. They made good though. I explained who I was, that i just left. Gave them my name. They checked. They realized and said I'd receive a credit in a few days. Thankfully they were correct. I did see that charge go back on my credit card as a credit. Happy that they're trustworthy, which they are.
