If you're looking for the quality of Ricochet with a lower price point Santo Taco is the place! I had two tacos and some chips and salsa. The salsa had HUGE chunks of avocado in it which was very nice since I love guac. The tacos were delicious. Went for dinner with my husband and son (3yo) and we ordered the Queso, which is PLENTY for a group of adults (4-5). Two elotes, which I expected a half a corn but it was a whole corn on the cob. They were good but slightly different from what I'm used to (which is smothered in mayo with butter) but it was devoured. I ordered a chicken taco, and a battered shrimp taco. The chicken was AMAZING and the shrimp was equally as good! The side portions are HUGE so we had lots of left overs. My son had a quesadilla which was a good size for kids and it comes with a side. The rice I can't say enough great things about! Hit the spot in every way. A little on the pricy side but for great fresh food, I would expect nothing less. read more

I had heard about this new place from some groups in Facebook, didn't even know they were here otherwise. I couldn't wait to give them a try and now we are here for the second day in a row. Fresh and tasty! Reminds me of the authentic Mexican food from vacation, but with a twist. I've tried the Baja Fish taco and Cameron taco, both delicious. Housemade tortillas, OMG! My wife and I stopped in for the first time last night. We were not disappointed. She had a couple of tacos, I had the Al-pastor burrito. We both had beans on the side. Everything was fresh and hot and full of flavor. The staff was friendly. There was a mixup with my order (it was late and I was tired, so at this point, I honestly don't know where communications fell down) but the manager made everything right without a complaint and I ended up with an extra Koreano taco, which ended up also being hot and tasty. I detest cilantro and am not a hot peppers person, and they were happy to leave those little bits of evil out of my food. The burrito was huge - I had the second half warmed up today for lunch. Our only complaint was that the nacho chips were rather oily. They either need to raise the temp in the fryer or drain them better. But that's the only thing not quite right with an otherwise very enjoyable meal. Bottom line - we will be back. read more

On our recent visit, I was a bit disappointed to learn that they no longer served the "Tripas" tacos. But Santo Taco is still my top taco spot in Valpo. My wife and I each had a fish taco and a shrimp taco. Both were great. The shrimp popped when you bit into them. Always a good sign that the shrimp is fresh. I've been going to Santo for a couple years now pretty regularly. I order the Koreano tacos almost every time and without fail they are perfect every time. My girlfriend usually gets Al pastor tacos or the carnitas (which is always enough for two meals) and, again, the quality is top notch and consistent. Also, shout out to the horchata, love that stuff. Further, the service is always great; busy or slow, they're there when you need them. The owner (I think it's the owner, anyways) will go out of his way to pick up the slack when other employees are busy, which gets mad respect from me. It's not traditional Mexican fare, but it's delicious and unique. I love the place. You'll love the place too. read more

The Poyo and Santo were our favorites, both specialty tacos were excellent. The Koreano was good too bad had too many jalapeños. My family and I are not unaccustomed to spice, but I went in on Tuesday and got meals for all of us and my mother and 4 out of the 5 of us have encountered varying degrees of stomach pain and discomfort. The chorizo is unbelievably greasy as were the corn tortillas. I've had positive experiences previously with Santo Taco which is why I was surprised that perhaps the quality of their food has gone downhill in recent months, which is a shame really. Everything here is soooo good! We moved here from Indianapolis and have really been missing a good taco place. We ordered the queso fundito, guacamole trio, 3 tacos (shrimp, carnitas, and spare rib), and a torta. Everything was delicious! The tacos are actually decent sized and we ended up taking two of them home. The pop machine here is really good too! I don't remember the brand but I think it uses real sugar. We were super excited to see Santo Taco open in Valpo. We met the owner at a catering event a couple of years ago and then had them cater our daughter's open house. They have the most authentic Mexican food that we've had since living in So Cal. Their meats are all high quality and cooked to perfection.
