Grilled chicken tenders with fries and ranch
    Abby M.

I know it's basic to get chicken fingers and French fries from an Italian restaurant, but if you tried these fries and chicken you would understand how hard it was to order anything else. Their fries and ranch may be my most favorite combo ever! The chicken is very tasty and healthy! If you wanted to get a healthier side you could eat a perfectly healthy meal which is so hard to find these days. You can't find anything like it around. The service is always very good, and the employees are kind and quick at their jobs. I've never had a bad experience here, and I'm a local so I've been here before they were even open. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and looking for rest food.

We randomly found this after setting up our RV at a nearby RV park and I'm so glad we did! The staff was friendly and accommodating to my family of 5 with three young kids and the food was delicious! I could not stop eating the bread, the fettuccini was amazing and so was the Mama's spaghetti. My daughter ordered the chicken tenders and didn't touch them because they weren't breaded but I ended up trying those and they were tender and flavorful! I highly recommend this place, the atmosphere was great and I'd love to go back before we leave at the end of the week!

However, this time I opted for a salad instead of the bruchetta because I was also going to share a pizza. Thw Johnny's Italian Special was just as goid as my usual. All in ial this was a five star experience. One more thing, we arrived early and were seated immediately and parked at the front door. but as we ate the crowd came. Eventually the place was full but we watched Kate who along the us and several other table has two groups of twelve or more. Not once did neglect anyone and seemed to just get faster and more regular at the tables. Then we noticed the entire place was that way and the level of customer care is the best I have ever seen.

We asked for marinara as a dipping sauce. 5/5 What we ordered: Sun-dried tomato focaccia. The serving for 4 was extremely small. Taste was nothing special. 3/5 Rigatoni pasta and guanciali. For us Bama fans, the afternoon turned out far better than what the football team put on the field a few days earlier. The basketball team showed up ready to play and made up for that New Year's Day disappointment. But let's be honest--we were really here for Italian food, and DePalma's was happy to oblige. It had been over a year since we last stepped inside this establishment, not because of any past experiences, but simply because this place stays busy. On a typical weekend, folks are packed in here like cordwood, and the sidewalk outside looks like someone kicked over an ant farm. That said, there's a reason for the crowd--DePalma's consistently delivers good Italian eats. The old building still carries plenty of character, with wine bottles lining the walls and the nostalgic bar where an old pharmacy once served Coke and a smile. These days, instead of sodas and prescriptions, they're rolling dough and making pasta behind that same bar, and I'd say that's a pretty solid upgrade. We started with the stuffed mushrooms, which were outstanding. When we finished, the plate was so clean you could've put it back in the cabinet--only a few grains of salt remained as evidence they were ever there. For my meal, I ordered the pine nut-crusted salmon along with a Caesar salad. It was my first time having their salmon, and it definitely won't be my last. The dish was excellent--well-prepared, flavorful, and proof that stepping outside your usual order at DePalma's can pay off. I've eaten here many times over the years and can honestly say I've never had a bad experience. Great food, great service, and great company--even the Kentucky fans who made the trip down to watch their beloved Cats get smacked around on the hardwood. All in all, DePalma's remains a Tuscaloosa staple for a reason. Crowded? Usually. Worth it? Absolutely.

The restaurant itself is so cute with a nice indoor and outdoor dining area. I usually don't like to dine outdoors, but they had a nice fully covered and enclosed patio that let us enjoy the warmth of the nice weather without flies everywhere lol. Service was exceptional. Our waitress was extremely kind and attentive to our needs. The knife in my silverware packet was actually dirty, probably from water/soap stains in the dishwasher but she was able to get me a new set of utensils rather quickly. There were a few menu items that intrigued me, but seeing pictures of the Fettucini Carbonara on yelp is what sold me. I love cheesy pasta! When I got it, the presentation did not disappoint! It was so cheesy and pretty! I had to take lots of pictures of it! The breadsticks that came with it were heavenly! I loved them! The pasta itself was okay, once all the cheesy goodness topping was gone, it was just like regular pasta and mushrooms. I did enjoy the bacon bits inside. I was hoping for fresh hand made pasta, but the fettucini seemed a little dry in some parts so it's likely their pasta is not made in house. I probably would not order it again. Overall, we did have a nice lunch here.
