Reservations recommended but not always a need to do. This very nice restaurant is great for a date night, anniversaries and/or just a good relaxing meal. The service was great. Our waiter knew his stuff. He answered all the questions we had about the food with confidence and was able to give us great recommendations. Now let's get to the food... It was amazing. For our appetizer we had the Calamari and was spot on. Not chewy at all with great seasoning. For the main I had Proper Authentic Fettuccine Alfredo. No cream. With perfectly cooked chicken. And the wife had the Veal which was so flavorful and tender. It's a decent size with pasta on the side. Everything about this restaurant was wonderful. Give this place a try. Came in for a quick dinner, nice decor and atmosphere, ordered the focaccia bread with onions, arugula salad, pasta primavera, and pappardelle pasta dish with chorizo, peppers and onions in a broth sauce. Our server was excellent, kept our glasses filled and very knowledgeable and helpful with ordering. The salad was very good, the bread was a bit under seasoned but good for dipping in the broth sauce. Both dishes had a good flavor but would be better with a creamier sauce instead of a liquid broth-like sauce. Would like to come back and try the meatballs which are a family recipe. There was a singer in the corner playing the guitar, he was very good and fun to have live music. Definitely recommend for a date night or just dinner out. read more

OK but not great. Went in for lunch today and the host and hostess were both very cordial. The place was empty which was nice. The interior was inviting and provided a decent atmosphere. I ordered a gin martini and lets just say it was less than acceptable. Got charged $15.00 for what they claimed was a Double Shot (which I did not ask for) of gin and you could barely taste any alcohol in the drink? The star of this visit was the Baby Arugula & Radicchio with chicken salad. It was WITHOUT par. However for $19.00 it should be. I'm sure Athens is grateful for having a 'fine dining' restaurant in the city center, but my personal feelings is if you are going to charge 'fine dining' prices you need to deliver every aspect of the 'fine dining' experience. Watered down drinks is not included in that experience. I did not make a scene because the server was so nice, I tipped 20% left and doubt that I will return. - read more

This place is a great authentic Sicilian Italian restaurant. Menu changes according to availability. But I highly recommend.

We got a reservation, and when we went they only took reservations, but I was able to get in around 5:00pm. Everything we tasted was good. We loved the appetizers. It's a small place, but it's very elegant. I'll be going back. read more

Lil Mazzaras was an excellent Mother's Day weekend lunch time choice. It is decorated as an upscale Italian Restaurant. The waitress was very attentive. The chicken Parmesan was fried and seasoned perfectly and the marinara couldn't have been better. The focaccia was tasty and the best consistency. I've been to this place about 5 times and each time is excellent. I have only ever been for lunch, so the menu may not be the same but all the food I've tried is great. Also, the menu has changed since they opened and I suspect that is to be seasonal. I miss the pork chop and beans! But most recently I ordered the following: Tomato focaccia = 8/10(a little less chewy and full of bubbles than focaccia I'm used to, but that speaks more to authenticity rather than flavor. This is great bread. I've had the other two types and prefer the tomato kind here) Grilled Caesar salad = 9/10 (this is excellent. They ask if you want anchovies when you order just in case, but I love the dressing!) Carmella's meatballs and pasta = 9/10( I'm not a big fan of angel hair pasta - it's a texture thing for me - but they will happily substitute linguini or spaghetti instead, which I do. It's fantastic and the portions seem to be getting bigger since they first opened) Berry Crustini = 10/10 (I honestly come just for this. If they take this off the menu I'm boycotting LOL. I also love that it's not a huge dessert that's cloyingly sweet like some restaurants. Perfect to end a great meal when you just have a little room left in the stomach) Service here is fantastic. The servers are friendly and explain the menu well. The food comes out at a pace that might be a tad slow for a half hour lunch break, but I spoke to the owner on opening day and he said it's more of a laid back meal experience they're going for so...intentional? I'm not complaining about it - not enough to knock off stars anyway. The place is clean. I've never been where the bathroom was messy. Prices are a tad upscale but I'd say worth it. Also inflation has hit us all, so it's getting to be average pricing for Athens I think. For 2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 salads, and 2 desserts is about $100 with taxes and good tip, but the quality is there so I'd say it evens out. The ambiance is simple and elegant. I've only ever been for lunch but it would be great for a date night. If you're driving down Washington street you blink and you'll miss it, but it's bigger on the inside than it looks from the street. Overall I would highly recommend this place. read more

We have been twice now and have enjoyed the food and the ambiance. Both times we were lucky and were seated right away with no reservation. This may have been because it was mid-week. I would imagine weekends you'd definitely want to make a reservation. Service is also excellent. The portions are quite large so we always end up with to-go boxes for a repeat for lunch.
