I decided to treat myself to a solo dinner on Christmas Day. It wasn't easy finding a restaurant that was open, but I found Sappori. Located in Staten Islands Eltingville. This was a nice drive for me but it was well needed. When I arrived they greeted me at the door and it was full on service from there. All of the servers were mingling with customers as if I stepped into a family living room. Now let's get to the food! OMG!! I ordered the Chilean sea bass an it was the most delicious fish I have ever tasted! The portion was good and the veggies were tasty and tender. Wow wow wow. I had a lichee martini which was also great and the sweet and spicy calamari. What a Gem this place is and yes on Staten Island!! I would highly recommend. Went with my wife and son. We were warmly greeted as we entered the place. Seated near a service bar that was nicely stocked for cocktails. My old fashion was very good. We ordered sweet and sour calamari and grilled octopus. The calamari was excellent and the grilled octopus may have been the best I ever had. Entrees were chicken parm, veal sapori and wifey had a Caesar salad. All were very good. We were offered home made orangecello which was delicious and on the house. It was our 48th wedding anniversary. We decided to come to " Sapori" because of their lobster ravioli. I cannot tell you enough how wonderful it is there . We were greeted with a friendly warm and professional manner . Our waiter was so attentive atmosphere is lovely and the food cooked to perfection we had calamari and baked clams for appetizers main course was my lobster ravioli of course and my hubby had the salmon And to top it off we had a double espresso and a cappuccino with crème brûlée everything was heavenly . Another amazing dinner from Sapori. We stopped here for dinner one night and we just loved it. For an app we tried a special of scallops wrapped in bacon with an avocado mash. It was quite delicious. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. For dinner we order broiled salmon with creamy pesto and crab and veg . This was perfection. And veal spedini with veg. I have no had one thing that wasn't fabulous from this restaurant. The staff is just amazing . And it was laid back and relaxed and overall beautiful experience a must try! read more

This restaurant went above and beyond from food to service for a rehearsal dinner I hosted last night. The food came out hot and in a timely manor all 39 people in my party was eating at the same time and the food was amazing from 7 choices of dishes , the bartender made amazing drinks and you never had to wait for one. The waiters were on point never missed a beat and the food and price was incredible. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants an incredible dinner or party which was in a beautiful private room.A must go too....has to be the best on Staten Island and very affordable. The owner's father and son always there to meet u at the door and make you feel welcome, especially on a return visit. First of all - Sapori is not to be confused with other restaurants that have similar nomenclature, which are Asian and not Italian as this is. Don't look for sushi. Okay, Italian food in Staten Island. Boring right? Well, yes, but when done well, it's a revelation. I'd call this a teeny tiny revelation, as the food was divine, but boy, is this place small. ‍ I went for a family dinner of about 8-10 people, and across the board, everyone seemed to enjoy their meal, save for one person who wasn't wild about the rigatoni bolognese. The menu was standard Italian fare, and while the appetizers of clams, fried calamari, and the like was pretty mid, the lobster ravioli was SENSATIONAL. It was so good. I cannot stress this enough. Lobster. Ravioli. So good. The staff was exceptionally attentive, I must give them credit for that. Truly, the only minor issue is the size of the restaurant - it is snug & not for big parties. Take your boo for a date and you're golden. Don't bring the whole family and kids and babies. Please. For the sake of everyone. Bonus note - they allowed us to bring a cake and sang Happy Anniversary To You to our grandparents, a song I've never heard sung before. They were great sports about it. In summary - small place. The obsession with Sapori is real! One of the best recommendations I received in a while. The food was beyond! The appitizer especially the sweet and sour calamari were chef kiss, I had the penne vodka as a main course, I have yet to try better penne vodka. Pasta is freshly made which is a huge plus being that you dont come across that many places on staten island who make fresh pasta! And the cheesecake oh my god the cheesecake is on another level of best cheesecake I have ever tried. I dont know what they do to it but i wanted to take a whole tray of it home. Saturday was my daughters communion we had a reservation for 130 PM at 1130 AM Brian their hostess calls me to inform me they booked a larger party who had just informed they they were going to bring a dj into the restaurant. I would have to move outside to the patio (with a chance of rain in the forecast)or be seated on top of the dj. There was no consideration that I had a reservation for my party already and that this notification was occurring two hours before my arrival time. When I voiced my complaint that they should have taken into consideration the other patrons that had reservations, he just said well they have the larger number of people and that seemed to be his only concern. I will never make a group reservation or any type of reservation there again I can only guess what the inside service would have been with the way I was treated over the phone, I was able to find another restaurant that provided great service and food to my party, at the last minute thank you Sapori and Brian for almost ruining a special day for me and my family. read more
