It was a bit crowded, But the service overall was very good. waiter took drink orders immediately and came back within a short time to take our order. Loved this place! Came here with my family, I got the truffle mac & cheese (without the truffles) and they got the braised beef tacos, philly cheesesteak, fried chicken & waffles, and the shawarma. I had lunch here on Sunday. I thought there would be more of a brunch menu, but it was mostly lunch items. I had fish and chips and my husband had a burger. I came here for the first time the other day with friends. We were drawn in by the ambiance of the restaurant. As we were walking in we were told by a woman leaving to definitely go in because the food was great! We were greeted by a very friendly bartender who sat us, and was very accommodating to us as we moved our original table because another friend decided to join us. The restaurant has a very diverse menu with food that is a bit unique in comparison to your standard "pub"- with appetizers such as deviled eggs and entrees like shwarma and stroganoff. I ended up ordering the Saus-a-lito, which was a chicken sandwich with guacamole, cheese, tomato, and chipotle aioli. The sandwich was good and I enjoyed it, and the fries were to die for! I couldn't stop eating them (and picking on my friends after I finished mine) Overall, I had a good experience here. The service was friendly and the food was good, albeit a bit pricy. read more

And now for a longer review.... Sapsuckers caught my eye with two things I love, Hops and Grub. But they caught my heart with their menu. With a focus on organic, local foods, wine, and microbrews, Sapsuckers is the type of place that makes me think the locavore movement of NYC is beginning to make a long awaited migration east. Sure, there are places that have been doing the local foodie thing out east, but not as casual, well executed, and just down to earth (no pun intended) as the folks at Sapsuckers. Granted, I only had the house-cut fries with a garlic aioli, but they took me back to not only Brooklyn, but to the locavore mecca of San Francisco. Crispy, tasty, but not too saturated in oil, these were mighty good fries that maybe only some truffle oil could have made better. I paired my mid-afternoon snack with a fabulous porter (which I can't recall the name) from their 10-12 draft beers. Their menu hosts homey favorites like Mac and Cheese, burgers, and other yummy sounding sandwiches, as well as more sophisticated entrees. It's a warm environment with a bar up front and seating in the back. All in all, I wish I had had more time and money to spend at Sapsuckers, but alas I'll have to wait till the new year to visit this up and coming pourhouse again. I really like this place. I've been here to drink only a handful of times, and each time I walk in, I go, I remember why I come here. Of the 3 times, it's never been ridiculously crowded, which in Huntington is sometimes odd. Ok let's start with the service; the best I have had anywhere in a long time. I mean attentive, not overwhelming, wraps your food up, checks how the meal is going, refills your cup without you needing to ask. The food: Mac n Cheese - to start it was outstanding perfect breadcrumb crust, and a surprise flavor it's gorgonzola cheese amazing! I had the mallet burger with foie gras, mushrooms, and all the garnishes on a brioche bun with fresh cut fries topped with melted Gorgonzola cheese and truffle oil. The pot pie is good but the filling needs one thing.... Roux. If it were a little tighter it'd be perfect! But don't shy away from it cause it is good and the puff pastry top is perfect. First off, excellent beer selection. They have about twenty craft beers on draft and many more bottles. The food is great too. For appetizer, I split a special - the falafel with fries. The falafel wasn't crispy, yet it was quite flavorful. The fries were seasoned with either rosemary or thyme. They were flavorful too, but these were crispy. Hopefully, this special becomes a staple. For dinner, I had the pork shank. The meat was succulent and fell off the bone. The shank sat on a bed of quinoa with carrots, celery, and a mild red sauce. On top of this, the service was awesome. Our waitress was incredibly accommodating, quite attentive, and very helpful. I would rate Sapsuckers four and a half stars. My only hold back is that prices are expensive. read more

Ive eaten here a few times and have loved everything I ordered. The place is small (narrow) and tight. It is also noisy so if u are looking for a quiet romantic spot, forget it. If u are looking for a fun time w good food, u got it. I don't drink beer but my friend was really happy with their selection! I got a martini which was excellent. Wasn't Wow-ed I really wanted to like this place but it wasn't spectacular. The food wasn't as grand as I expected, however, the immense beer selection was quite impressive. Our waitress was also very friendly and was very knowledgeable in regards to the menu items. For beers, I had the Lagunitas and the Afrowhite. I'd describe the Lagunitas as a potent magic hat no.9 and the Afrowhite was like drinking a floral fizzy bathroom soap. We started with the appetizer, three little pigs. They were pulled pork hampshire sliders. The buns were soft and fluffy but the meat was a little on the tough side. The pickle and slaw were ok. I had the wild boar sausage which came with a side of fries topped with dried parsley flakes. The boar sausage was topped with caramelized onions which worked well with the slightly gamey salty dog. However, the meat to bun ratio was off. Two times the bun with comparison the the meat is no fun. The highlight of the night was the organic chicken wings. The buffalo style wings were crispy and juicy. I could have passed on the other food items and ordered three orders of these wings and I would have been more than happy. The buffalo sauce was mild and twangy. The bleu cheese dip was rich and satisfying. I'd give the wings five stars but the rest of the food was just meh. Maybe, I should have ordered a burger because they sure looked good. If i'm ever in Huntington in my next life, I'd come back and give this place another go. read more

A people pleaser at heart . I deplore writing negative reviews . Being nearby I spied with my little eye Sapsuckers . The pics looked good , the reviews were positive . Hmmm, we'll give it a go . It cost $55 for 6 mediocre wings , a bowl of remarkably unremarkable onion soup ( except for it's small size ) , and some decent mac and cheese . Also a nice Philly Cheesesteak (made with "real" steak .. if you like that kinda thing ) and some very nice homeade shoestring fries . Plus a Coca Cola . Nice little bar upfront , no complaints other than some mediocre , overpriced food . After a day of coming from Dulles in DC to JFK and missing all the Vanderbilt and Teddy Roosevelt sights, we pulled in to Huntington and made for Sapsuckers. What a find. Great beer and drinks pub but the food... fabulous! Had the house made Caesar salad which my wife and I split. The perfect dressing and wonderfully fresh Parmesan shavings set this salad apart from others. We gobbled it up and then asked Christina how she could possible charge us for THAT!. Then we split the Stroganoff. OMG a full bowl for each of us! Fantastic sauce, veal meatballs and fettuccine! We died and went to Heaven. Truly the highlight of the last two days for us. Drinks were yummy, the 3 other members and myself all had draft beer. It was fresh and crisp. I had the Caesar salad with shrimp. Simple, but delicious. You can always count on this place to offer exotic beer and it helps to branch out to new drinks. I have been meaning to try their food, but I did grab appetizers. The pretzel!!! Sapsuckers is always a good spot to enjoy a constantly rotating, extensive beer menu paired with great food. This is a great spot for beer lovers, for the menu has a ton of different beer styles. You are bound to find something you like. Their food menu has many varieties and options. For appetizers, I usually go with either the hummus, baked pretzel, nacho libre, and wings. They have salad options, all types of tacos, a big sandwich menu, and entrees. The angry rooster is my favorite sandwich on the menu, for it packs a ton of spice and flavor between warm ciabatta bread. If I deviate from the sandwich list, I'll go with the chicken shawarma (still technically a sandwich though). The shawarma comes with chicken, cucumber, tomato and tahini on an open pita. Don't skip on the tzatziki sauce that comes on the side! Whenever someone is unsure about where to go for dinner and/or drinks, I always recommend Sapsuckers because of their variety and quality. read more

Been coming here for a while and always forget to write a review. I highly recommend this place if you are a beer drinker that appreciates high quality beers. Every time I come here I find something new either on tap or in can / bottle. They also have a great selection in liquor. I'm a bourbon guy and never have a problem finding a great one here. Vinny behind the bar is on point with his recommendations. He is extremely knowledgeable about the beer selection as well as the liquors. I have had amazing meals here and I have had meals here that have left me regretting my meal choice like crazy. The amazing meals WAY outweigh the regretful ones. Must try items include: - The Mallet Burger - SO GOOD. Great beef patty, brioche bun, lettuce/tomato/onion, and I ask for bleu cheese on top of that *almost* every time. Fries are thin cut, perfect array of crispy ones and soft ones, and they're always seasoned just right. - Philly Cheese Steak - amazing. And big enough to guarantee you leftovers. Made the way a true philly cheese steak should be, tender cuts of meat and the perfect amount of cheese, onions and peppers. Mouth is watering thinking about it. - Shwarma - I live in Astoria. I work in midtown Manhattan. I should be able to find the best shwarma possible in either of these places. No. sapsuckers does it best, by far. It is made so incredibly I can't put it into words. If you're into that kind of flavor, you must try. Caution: the fish and chips are literal fish sticks. Not at all what I had been expecting. I didn't like them at all. Specials never catch my eye, not entirely sure why. The menu items always seem to blow them away, for me. Veggie burger is ok but VERY soft texture which is not appealing. A burger should have some crunch or solidity to it. This one does not. Still comes with the awesome fries so it's not an all out loss offering the "healthier" burger. Try it. I've eaten here previously and thought it was great. However, the quality definitely went down. I really disliked the calamari, very dry and way too chewy. Can find calamari elsewhere made better. We also had the shawarma, which was just ok, kind of flavorless. The stroganoff was the best, but could've used more meat and less mushrooms. I would order it again. The beers we ordered were ok, our waitress wasn't really eager to help us find a beer that we loved, so we settled. This place is a little over priced for what it is. It's not horrible, but definitely not my first choice to come back to in Huntington. A lot of better options in the area. read more

I've been looking at the menu online for a while now and finally had the chance to go. This place is more of a grab a beer and food after work type of environment and not for a family with young kids. I started off by getting the Guadalajara Sour drink, which was good, but in my opinion tasted more like a margarita. I then got the pulled pork sandwich which was pretty good as well. The really great dish was the chicken and waffles that my friend got. Just the right amount of sweet and salty to make it delicious. If you are a beer lover they have a large variety. Finally, I have made it back to Sapscukers. I must say, this review is going to parallel my first one ... I still love the appetizers more than my meal. I ordered a pretzel and wings again (both did not disappoint! And that is surprising considering I was remembering them from a year ago and had high expectations. I would order them again! And hopefully soon.) I also finally got the pierogis. They were pretty good, but I'm still thinking the pretzel braid and the wings are the way to go! This visit was different because I was motivated by hunger and a need for a nice stout beer. I got an Elisyum on tap and it was super nice and served in a snifter which made me happy as can be. As for my meal, I had an insane hot dog special. It sounded better than it tasted and I was reminded that I should come here for beer and appetizers. The rest of my party seemed to enjoy themselves. I would also like to put it out there that our waiter was quite good and I was very pleased with the excellent and happy service. For a Sunday, it was quite busy and I liked that. My friends and I were so excited to go here after reading such great reviews, but we didn't stay after the manager was extremely rude to his worker after we asked if we could be seated with 3 out of 4 people. The table wasn't any bigger or smaller because of the 4th person and we would have stayed if he kindly said its policy not to do that. But instead, he scolded her for asking right in front of us so we left and gave our business to Swallow. I hope to return one day but next time the manager should consider how he treats his staff and customers because I don't want to give my business to a complete jerk. read more

Love this place! Been here many times and never had a bad experience. The bar is well stocked with beer, wine and liquor. Their beer list is always changing, so there's always something new to try.
