This review is for breakfast only. Had a couple of eggs over medium, sausage and hash browns, and a side of sausage gravy. Eggs were cooked right, sausage tasted (and looked) like the sausage you get at McDonalds. Hashbrowns were not that good, and the gravy was from a mix. And the biscuit was one of those frozen kind. In town on vacation, wanted to get a nice homestyle breakfast with my family. Seemed like a cute hole in the wall place at first. It was not particularly busy, but the wait for the food made it seem like it was. I do not mind waiting for a meal, however it better be a great one. I ordered a pancake and homestyled potatoes and it was mediocre. However, my family ordered inedible biscuits and gravy- biscuits were pasty and raw and the gravy was disgusting. The breakfast burrito was not edible either. Service is slow, food is not good. My family feels sickly leaving the restaurant. Cheap prices, but not worth it. read more

Sarah's is southern. From the mugs with sayings on them to their real grits, this is a true eastern NC restaurant. Nothing fancy just women working hard making good food. A chain can't touch this. My husband and I stopped here on our way back home after a lovely 3 week stay. We should have left upon walking in, but we were in a hurry to eat and get on the road. Several people, in this very small space, were not wearing masks, the tables were close together and the food? Ugh, I ordered the special of Raspberry Pancakes. I got two pancakes, luke warm, with what appeared to be raspberry cool whip in between the pancakes. They were served with 2 fresh raspberries on top. My husband got a very complicated dish of scrambled eggs and toast. The toast was so cold that the butter that they put it on it was not even melted. The eggs were luke warm. We do plan on an extended stay in the area next year but will not be visiting Sarah's Kitchen. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE!! The absolute worst service I have ever received. We arrived at 11:30 and the waitress made sure we knew she wasn't happy about it. Rushed us to order, rolled her eyes and treated us like we were garbage. When I complained to the other waitress she replied, yeah, she's always like that. Not only did she never check on us, she sat at the register eating chicken tenders. The owner was there as well and apparently doesn't care. I've always felt if what you can see happening isn't good imagine what you can't see. read more

I tasted every other meal cooked in the last week, at least, with the pan/flat top used to fry my eggs. Ugh. The biscuits were frozen and flavorless. remember those microwave sausage biscuits, 2 in a package? Exactly. The same sausage as well. If not for Sarah's offerings being larger you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The gravy, bland, likely from a box/bag. The kid had "home fries" straight from a bag and then, apparently, stewed in grease all morning. The first glass of sweet tea was ok. The refill tasted like it had been brewed in the mop bucket. I left my barely eaten breakfast feeling jealous of the folks in the Hardee's drive through getting a comparably decent meal. I mean how do you screw up sweet tea?!? Ate at SK again today and the food was great as usual. Had the Reuben and it was very good. I noticed in a couple of reviews that the customers complained about the rude service. I got to see a bit of it today. The first server I dealt with may not have been rude but she sure wasn't friendly at all. I know that she can be because she was carrying on a running conversation with another customer so maybe our arrival cut into her talk time. Luckily enough, the server who usually waits on us was there and took care of us. I hope the folks at SK read this and stress to employees that all customers matter, not just the ones they are friends with. If I'd had that server for the whole meal, I'd have lowered my stars for the rating. read more

Food (breakfast) was very good! Waiting for it took a VERY long time, an unreasonably long time. The acoustics were terrible, sooo loud, very small on the inside and seemed like everyone was talking at the top of their lungs to be heard. I would encourage them to get some sound dampening panels on the walls or install carpet. Unfortunately, we won't be returning because of the negatives. Also, when bussing the tables, don't throw all the plates and cups into the bins, place them quietly in there, this unnecessarily contributed to a lot of the noise. Sorry, only 2 stars for the entire dining experience, But again, the food was very good. read more

We used to come here every year during our beach vacations, but after the way we were treated this year, we won't come back. They couldn't/wouldn't seat a party of 5, even though it was early on a weekday and not at all busy, and the waitress was weirdly rude and dismissive about it. She would not allow us to push two tables together, either inside or out, and seemed irritated at this request for no particular reason. We were polite and respectful; she was not. We just left. I'm guessing there's a dislike of out-of-towners here and a preference for locals, even though they clearly need our business to pay their bills. Luckily, another customer (a friendly local guy) expressed sympathy, saying they were "funny in here," and recommended another breakfast place nearby. read more

We try to stop by Sarah's kitchen on our frequent trips to the beach....but no more! Last Saturday morning I witnessed a couple bring their small dog to the outdoor seating. The dog sat in the man's lap all over the table, bad. But it got worse, they ordered the dog sausage and eggs. The dog was served on the ground in the same pink plates we had just eaten off of....yukkkkk! I have a dog, but we don't share dinnerware. That was my last trip! read more
