I am in love with their fish sandwich! Today was no exception, yet when I bit into it, it was still cold and a good portion of the filet was not cooked through. I'm not the one to make a big deal about things but I really wanted to enjoy this sandwich. So I went up to their counter and kindly pointed out the mishaps and they were extremely apolegetic. They cooked one up right away and brought it out to me. They apologized again and the gal who brought it out told us that my husband and I could come back in after and dessert would be on them! My sandwich was delicious AND I got a free sweet treat, it wasn't necessary but it was certainly appreciated. This place is fun to go to if you're heading down to Presque Isle or going to Waldameer. It's got that old time diner feel and is always very packed in the summer. It's definitely somewhere I would recommend anyone living in Erie visit just so they can experience it. However, I don't feel that their food is anything great. Customer service was very good and food was out very quick. The down side was food was super beyond greasy where the fries had no substance but a grease crunch and you can tell the hamburger meat is not fresh and from a frozen patty. We visited Sara's Friday, June 5 at 6 pm and decided to eat at a picnic table after paying for our food. We did not see a cleaning station for tables nor anyone actively working to keep tables sanitized. We observed customers leaving a table and expected it would be cleaned. It was not. Some time later an employee wiped a table with a nasty looking rag and then wiped another table without cleaning the rag. There were no cleaning supplies with the employee. It was so difficult to watch that we could not finish our meal. We observed the employee lingering inside the building seemingly not attentive. It was shocking to see how little attention was being paid to sanitizing the tables. We ended up throwing out the rest of our food. I did not want to interrupt the owner as it was so busy. I hesitate to write about this disappointing experience as the restaurant industry has suffered so much during the pandemic. However, sanitation is of upmost importance while we are dealing with the Covid virus. read more

So we decided to come here instead of eating at the park. It has great reviews on yelp and was packed. I ordered a cheeseburger and curly fries. My beau ordered the same with onion rings. we were told they had a condiment station.. okay, great however there were only two and this place was packed. Also only two soda fountains. It felt as if we were cattle with how busy it was and not really any great flow in and out that made a lot of sense. It was 6:45 and we must have got with the second dinner rush on a Saturday night. This is just an FYI if you don't like being around a lot of people and patrons who really didn't seem to have a lot of manners. Any how. The food. The food was meh at best. The roll on the burger was extremely frustrating because it fell apart yet had to be ripped apart to actually eat it. A complete mess. The burger, its self did not have a whole lot of taste to it. The onion rings didn't have too much flavor and the batter did not stick to the onion. The curly fries were okay but they had that from a bag taste. Better than park food however next time I think we will hit up Five Guys with hopefully a smaller crowd and flow to a restaurant that makes sense. read more

After a morning in Presque Isle we decided to stop & get something to eat before heading back to NEPA. This was not my first choice but the rest of the group decided we should try it. Usually places like this turn out to be nothing but dried out burgers & tiny dried out fried shrimp. I was amazingly surprised. Although some in the group were hoping to order Gyros l.... unfortunately it's not in their menu. But we were not disappointed in the burgers. It was a plain cheese burger.... but it was delicious and it was in the softest bun (I usually take half the bun off but not this time) I ate the whole thing with ketchup of course. The only thing is that I didn't see any tomato & lettuce on anyone's food which was on the picture above when you order. ( I guess you have to ask)They gave you a choice of onion rings, curly fries or zucchini fries. We ordered the onion rings & fries. I would have liked to have tried the zucchini fries.... I guess I'll have to return and try it. Our friend's son ordered the Chicago Style Italian beef & gave us the thumbs up.... afterwards my husband ordered a sundae and it was very good too..... it came in a cup which I liked because it's less messy while you're driving......At this place we ordered in on section and then went through the doors and went to the next section to wait for our order number to be called. Most seating here is located outdoors and it was shaded so it was nice....We were very happy with this place & plan to come back when ever we visit Erie again. read more

I don't know how is it possible that this place has such good reviews and so many people every time i pass by to go to presque isle. This is the worst food I have ever put in my mouth. The bread for sandwiches and burgers and hot dogs is just like you are eating paper. i don't even know how they manage to have stale bread like that when so many people seem to go there. their fries and onion rings are yuck, greasy, not tasty at all. McDonald's beats them in taste at least! Junk food at its worst! the tomatoes and onions in the food counters are from last year, very tired vegetables! The family was road tripping through Erie, and after a chat with a lovely local couple, they recommended going to Sara's for lunch. What a great suggestion! Absolutely terrible food. Famous hotdog bun is too big and tasteless. Chili for the hotdog must have been sitting out over heat all day, because it had been cooked down into a dry, bland, mush that was sparingly spread on the hotdog. Onion rings must have been sitting under a heat lamp, and weren't cooked at the right temperature to begin with. Cold, greasy, and mushy. Ice cream there is good, but the reason this place is successful is because of nostalgia, location, and decor, not the quality of the food. read more

In our first visit to the area we decided to dis it Presque Isle and wanted the whole experience, including a visit to the famous Sara's, located just at the parks entrance. The first thing to say when you arrive/enter is wow! They have one of the most wonderful collections of 50s and 60s memorabilia and neon decorating inside and outside. It's worth stopping just to check it out. The menus is fast food of course, we heard famous for Smiths hot dogs so we tried one. My wife also ordered the Italian beef sandwich. Service was fast. The hot dig itself was tasty, I would describe as a natural casing Vienna style dog. The bun was awful. Too large, too stale and added nothing to the experience. Ended up discarding most of it. The Italian beef in the other hand was very nicely prepared with peppers and onions and I believe covered in provolone cheese. Is was something I would go back for...but not the hot dog. In summary we'd go back again if visiting he park just to give other menu Irma a try and to "tour" all of their wonderful stuff adorning the walls. read more

The only thing worth coming for is the milkshakes. The chicken tenders were soft and mushy, the onion rings have no flavor once so ever, but the milkshakes and friendly service is what saves it from 1 star. I recommend avoiding eating here but if you want a cool summer treat, go for it. read more

Have been coming here since I can remember. It's a great burger, hot dog and sandwich shop. And the ice cream, shakes, and Sunday's here and to die for. Nothing like a soft serve on a cone or Sunday and coke watching the fire works from the amusement park up the road. Beautiful place that can never or will never be topped by anyone.
