The candies came beautifully wrapped and divided in boxes, everyone was so complimentary, delicious delicate chocolate and airy and light peanut butter was just perfection. The sandwich consisted of thin sliced turkey, crisp bacon, Swiss cheese, honey mustard, mayo, lettuce and tomato served on a flaky croissant. It was a very good sandwich except there was too much mayo for me. It was dripping off and making for a messy eating. No worries, I will hold the mayo next time. The sandwich came with "house" chips which were plain kettle potato chips. Now for the truly great find, desserts. Their desserts are not listed on the menu and some are by the pay counter, some in a little refrigerator and some in a "jewelry" case. I ordered the Chocolate Caramel Hole Cake out of the refrigerator. A "hole" cake has holes in it with, in this case, caramel poured into the holes. Absolutely the bomb! The cases had a varied selection of cookies, donuts and pastries. The clerk told me that their most popular donut was the Apple Cinnamon Donut, but they didn't have any. The clerk said, "I'll make you one!" In ten minutes, she came out with my donut. And it was fresh, soft and delicious. Lots of crispy cinnamon sugar, it melted in my mouth. Great service! Meanwhile, I cooled my heels while several employees were darting around and others sat at the tables, but all were oblivious to the need to keep things moving. Even Kroger doesn't treat customers with this level of disdain. I asked the register operator for a manager, and that produced two deer-in-the-headlights kids who had never been confronted with anything but empty praise for showing up. The so-called manager said he was sorry, but when I asked him what he was going to do to fix it, I thought he'd gone unconscious while still standing. This idea had never occurred to him. All this while three employees smoked and joked at a table. Well, I could go on, but I'm sorry that I didn't stop in Bloomington, where they seem to have things together. I won't try Martinsville again.
