Giving it one star would be giving it justice. I was staying at the Wilderness, and this was one of their on grounds restaurants. We were given a book of coupons when we arrived to hotel, and I hadn't used any yet. I wanted to take kids out, and realized it was a shuttle ride. Got there which was a wait due to being short shuttle drivers. Gave them my coupon for 2 dollars off kids meals and they wouldn't honor them. They said it was for delivery only. But the coupon only said delivery on other coupons for water park pizza. The manager said he's right. He's been there 10 years. I said I was going to go and he was happy to have us leave. Bad bad service. When I got back to wilderness and paid tip to shuttle there and back I let them know about my experience. They agreed it said nothing about kids meal coupon needing to be delivery only. I have only given one other bad review in my life, but this guy really upset me. I worked food service and bartending a lot in my early 20's and would have never treated customers that way. read more

Staying at the wilderness we had then deliver. Spaghetti and lasagna dinners with breadsticks/ pop and a creme brule. They should have a disclaimer that one pasta dinner will feed 2+ people (3 yo also helped). Dinner comes with salad which had a variety of ingredients. They also gave us plenty of napkins, plates and utensils. The spaghetti was delicious, not just phoned in like you might expect. The meatballs had a little kick but were large and tasty. The lasagna was also quite delicious. Breadsticks were ok and the brule was very good. A truly excellent delivery experience. Best italian ive had in a while. read more

This was a nice restaurant, I wish the patio was attached to the back rather than the front and the service could have been faster. It was very loud from the street and it made my food lowkey unappetizing, it was still good though. Probably would see what else is out there next time I'm here, we only really stopped because it was close to our hotel. It was also closed at lunchtime for some reason. read more

Save your receipts people. Sarento's overcharged me for the tip by $10.00. I left a $20 tip on my card and when I checked my account they overcharged another $10. Food was ok - service was ok but adding an additional $10 tip is not ok. read more

Went there Saturday night for two if my friends birthdays. It was amazing! They have a great selection of wine! Our service was on point the entire evening. The food was amazing. Nice, solid Italian food with great service. We dined here while staying at a nearby resort and it was a great change from the standard resort fare we'd been dining on all weekend. After reading some of the reviews, I was a little worried about trying this place, but the kids wanted Italian so I gave it a try. Customer service was great from the get go. We were seated right away, even though the restaurant was pretty busy. Our server was friendly and prompt. I could tell the servers were all very busy, but they did a fine job. Our food was delivered quickly and we always had someone refilling our water and checking to see if we needed anything else. One of our servers asked if we needed anything, and she didn't expect me to ask for another glass of wine. She was unsure what to do, but she figured it out, and problem solved efficiently. The atmosphere was good and the food pretty decent. My veal left a little to be desired, but the rest of the dish was good. The tagliatelle bolognese was excellent, as was the chicken parm. I'd return to this restaurant again when we're in town. read more

Overpriced flavorless Italian food, slow service for the food to come out, waitress was not bad

We saw this restaurant our first night and saw it was packed so we decided to go the next night for dinner. When we arrived, we could not tell if it was open, so I pulled up the info and saw that they were just opening. We also decided to ignore the 3 star review to much regret. When we came in we were not greeted just simply asked if it was a party of four. We were instructed to follow the hostess to our table. She seated us in what seemed like the dungeon and I jokingly said "Oh where the ugly people are seated." This definitely did not sit well with my sister. We never did figure out why we were seated clear in the back. Despite that we tried to enjoy ourselves. The service was very good, waitresses not friendly but very attentive. She came and filled our water glasses and greeted us right away. When she came back to take our order, she brought breadsticks that were cold and tasteless, my nephew stated that the breadsticks at Fazoli's were better; I would have to agree. I ordered the Penne Italiano which was good, but not $19.95 good. My sister got the steak, which she could not eat. It was on a plate of red wine sauce, which was horrible! She put it on the plate for her breadsticks and still could not eat it because it was then tasteless. When the waitress came to the table and asked her if she wanted a box for the uneaten $33.95 steak and she told her no, it was even questioned. My niece had the mozzarella sticks appetizer as her meal; she enjoyed this. My nephew had the kids meal of chicken strips and fries. He ate all the fries but did not care for the chicken strips. Brought my family of 5 to the restaurant during our stay at the wilderness. We really enjoyed it. We went around 5p and we were the 2nd family eating in the dining area. I know what food poisoning is like got it once down in Mexico. had the same symptoms with stomach cramps and bloody diarrhea all day. No one else in my family got sick. I'm a native East Coaster and authentic Italian food is something I have grown up around. I have grown accustomed to never having authentic food here in the Midwest but this was really silly. I don't eat bread but since they serve a olive oil plate for bread (and the bread they serve with it is that silly soft bread sticks so popular here in the Midwest) I ordered the garlic toast to try with the olive oil. This "toast" was the Texas Toast slices with fake garlic sauce and cheese toasted on it found in every local diner. Completely gross. The Cabrese salad -traditionally served at room temperature- was so cold that none of the flavors could blend to create the classic flavor of the dish. I understand that every restaurant needs to do a certain amount of advanced prep but the Cabrese should be set out to achieve room temp before being served. Rock hard mozzarella is NOT tasty. The snap peas were previously frozen and slimy. The stuffed chicken was incredibly over-cooked. While the crab stuffing was lovely the effort to chew the chicken diminished any joy the dish might have offered. The high point of the meal was the Rosemary Risotto, a flavorful success! Italians are well known for their marvelous variations with risotto and this one was a delight. I live 40 minutes from the Dells and often eat at Fields, Kyoto or Del-Bar. I had tried Sarento's a few years ago and though I did not like it then thought it was time to try again. I am writing this one off my list of options. My money is too precious to waste like this. If you are staying in the Dells and looking for simple Italian try Calabria in Reedsburg or Roman Castle in Mauston. Fewer choices but your check will be lighter and tastes will be better satisfied. read more

First of all let me say I never ever go online to leave bad reviews. BUT this is a different situation. I left a comment on their Facebook page which they quickly deleted...so I felt it better to go this route with my review. If you eat inside with kids, they WILL seat you in the basement area. It's got a sweet drop ceiling and sub-par ambiance. It doesn't matter that our kids are 8 & 10 and have eaten in restaurants much nicer and more expensive than this- we still had to sit in the basement with 30 other kids who have never been taught how to eat out. Yelling, running around, just the worst environment I can think of to have a meal. The food was okay. Breadsticks were good. Kids enjoyed their food. Chicken parm was okay- not breaded and certainly not the best. Overall if you want a place your kids can continue to act like they're in the waterpark- the basement area is the place for you. I wish they put the same effort into the food as the fanciness of the decor. The service was good, lots of people around to help if you needed anything. I got the spaghetti and meat sauce. It was very spicy, not in a good way, and I found myself eating around it. We got calamari Italian style, which translated means thick breading and thick pieces. Agreed on the breadsticks, delicious and they are generous with them.The salad did have a gloppy blue cheese that didn't cover the lettuce by a long shot. I am curious about the pizza, I might get delivery to our motel next door, and would probably come back on a Friday for fish. One of nicest restaurants I have ever been to. It is fancy, but very romantic if you happen to be with a date. The meals were a little expensive, but I will not lie to you when I say the meals were possibly the best from any restaurant I have ever beem to. Totally worth the price. The waitor was extremely helpful and beyond friendly. He even rearranged the table for us so we could sit next to each other and watch the great live music together. My girlfriend ordered the margarita pizza (a mottzarella, tomato, basil pizza) and I had the steak tenderloin trio. Both of our meals were excellent! Placed an order for pick up, and we got their chicken alfredo, and chicken parma. Asked if they came with bread as if they did not, I was going to order garlic bread. I was told they the plates came with bread sticks. I also asked if I could switch the side salads to side Caesar, and they charge an additional $3.95 to do this. (umm, lettuce, Romano, croutons, and Caesar dressing costs $4 more... really?) They said it would be ready in 20 min so we made sure to allow them time. When we got to the restaurant, we saw they had a very nice ambiance with the decor. However; we waited 5 min with two other groups before anyone came out to greet us. The place was not very full as this was on a winter weekday evening so I'm not sure what the hostess was up to. When we did get to speak with her we waited another 10 min for the food, but not a big deal. Once we got our food and paid the bill we went back to our hotel room to enjoy the food. We realized that they did not bother with the bread sticks, and the food was not all that great. The pasta was overcooked, and the alfredo sauce had no flavor at all. For an $20 plate of food you would expect to have properly cooked pasta as well as a good flavor to the sauce. The missing bread sticks was also rather annoying. This was my first, and last visit to this restaurant. They need better food and service before I would consider returning. Ambiance was the only reason they receive 2 stars. The quality of the food was akin to what you would see on a buffet or a Fazoli's. read more

The atmosphere is nice inside but even though it was 90 degrees outside, I FROZE inside and that was with a long sleeve cardigan over my top. My boyfriend who is always hot even commented to the fact that he was cold, so I knew it wasn't just me. I don't like to freeze and hear my teeth chatter when out to dinner. The service was fast and friendly. We ordered garlic bread as an appetizer, but it needed extra flavor since there wasn't much to taste. The breadsticks were piping hot, but again, needed something. The oil they provided at the table just didn't cut it when trying to add a little zip to the already bland breadsticks. I ordered their special which was three 3oz tenderloin filets cooked with different sauces. They were cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful. The risotto as a side dish was very bland. My boyfriend had chicken Alfredo which he also said could have used some more seasoning. Our bill was $77 which we thought was pricey considering the food didn't knock our socks off. I had recently seen Sarento's listed on a "best fish fry" list on a Madison-based news channel. It just so happened that my wife needed dinner one Friday night while escaping to the Wisconsin Dells. We stayed at the Wilderness and they offer free shuttles to Sarento's in case you want to have a drink or two with dinner. I knew before I even walked in that I would be ordering the fish fry. My wife wasn't that hungry so she only had the Clam Chowder. She described it as "good." The fish was $12.95 and came with four very good size pieces of cod, choice of potato, and salad. The salad was OK, it left a lot to be desired. Who needs salad anyways? The fish was AWESOME! I did not expect it to be that good. It was flaky, lightly battered. It even tasted just as good the next day when I heated the leftovers up. This is worth a drive even from Madison. The fish was great. I can't comment on the Italian foods as we didn't try them. The only thing keeping me from giving Sarento's a 5th star is the service. Our waitress didn't always address our requests for things like napkins, or refills. read more

Was at the Dells with my husband and 15 & 13 year olds. Thought the decor was very nice, the wait staff was also right on the mark with us. We all had something different for dinner and enjoyed all our meals. The salad was just OK but our meals were all very good. I actually wanted to go back again during our stay because I liked the pizza my daughter ordered so much! If you go and you like wine, you will love the selection they have. I went with my wife during our weekend getaway and we loved the ambience. We started off with garlic bread which was pretty good and also were given bread and olive oil. They have a decent wine list as well. For dinner, I had one of the specials (beef tenderloin 3 ways with risotto) and my wife is a vegetarian and had the fettuccini. Both were very well done and flavorful. We did not have desert but the items on the desert cart looked good from afar. The waitstaff was very good. We had reservations at 6PM and the place was already pretty full so I would suggest making reservations if coming in for an early dinner. When we make another trip to the Dells we will definetely be going back! Definetely recommend for couples, families, and for anyone looking for good Italian food in the Dells. read more

My mom has heard wonderful things about Sarento's and the singer that they have on Thursday night so we went while in town. We called ahead because we had a party of 9 and they seated us right away. I ordered a dirty martini and my husband got a Manhattan and I was a little disapointed. The singer sang one song and went on a 35 minute break. It took a while for our waiter to come over to take our order. After we finally got it in the singer came back and sang two more songs and left. (I do understand that he does not work for the restaurant, but if you're going to be advertising live entertainment until 9 and he leaves at 8:15 it's a little annoying). It took a long time to get our salads and my mom was given the wrong dressing. We had to ask the waiter 3 times for a side of the original dressing that she ordered. As for dinner, it was okay. I ordered the Cannelloni (Crepe style stuffed pasta, veal, wild mushrooms, white cream sauce) and it was a bit dry. All in all I wasn't too impressed with our dinner but the decor was very nice and the restaurant itself was very clean. read more
