The food is consistently outstanding. Our go‑tos are the pizza, lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, and chicken marsala -- all exceptional. And here's a little insider tip: on Tuesdays, their pizzas are only $8. Another one... Sarento's has the best Friday night fish fry in the entire area. No exaggeration. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance of high‑end dining with surprisingly reasonable prices. Go just once and you'll understand why people get hooked. There are plenty of restaurants in the Dells with good food, but Sarento's is more than just a meal. Not great. There's two parts to this place: a nice bar area with seemingly good atmosphere and a "chow hall" style area that feels like a cafeteria. The service is pretty dismal. For example we were only able to have two cocktails over more than an hour. It took almost 20 mins between ordering one and having it at our table. The food was very mediocre. My wife got the veal parm and it was literally burnt black. Everything was sweet - I got the chicken Marsala and it tasted like dessert. The kids pasta with tomato sauce also tasted like dessert. We have eaten at Sarento's several times. And always have had a great meal at a reasonable price. And I must say every time the service was poor. But last night people were walking out and the bar staff could have carried less. Only one server was working hard to try to keep people happy. Now this restaurant is owned by the wilderness. So the servers should be top notch. My suggestion is who ever is in charge at the wilderness get it together. Pay attention to what's going on in your house. We will continue to eat there. Pretty much an overpriced Olive Garden. The bread sticks are unlimited, but very floppy- little to no flavoring. The salad given to us- house salad- was good! The portion of the salad was very minimal but not unlimited. I accidentally gave our server a hard time. He had a very thick accident. It was not his fault, for it was all mine. He was a good sport about it. The food price range is kinda up there. Almost $25 for every plate- everything on the kids menu is $10. We came with a party of 10 for dinner. The wait wasn't too long considering our group size. The lack of being able to split the checks among the three families was disappointing as we did this at other restaurants during our stay. On to the food, French onion soup was lacking in flavor unfortunately and everyone who ordered it agreed. Also one guest ordered bruschetta as her main meal and when she received it there was a hair across one piece. She then lost her appetite. Staying at the Wilderness with friends and we wanted a pizza night. Called in our order. The food arrived quickly (30 minutes), was hot and tasted fresh. We had the caprese salad, Italian chop salad, veggie thin crust pizza, tiramisu, and cannoli. I really liked everything except my tiramisu. It was gritty. I can't speak to the ambiance since we did delivery, but I would definitely return in the future to try other entrees! Located around the corner from the main wilderness resort, this is a convenient location. They actually have a shuttle from the Wilderness but it was only a 3 min walk from the resort. The ambience is nice, beautiful murals on the walls and easy listening Italian music playing. The menu is pretty big and there are lots of options. The entrees come with a side salad, which is nice, although the ranch dressing was a bit off; it was very thick and tasted like mayonnaise. I ordered the short rib pappardelle; the flavor was good and the short rib was tender. However this wasn't pappardelle, more like lasagna noodles, although they did taste homemade. I also didn't like that the short rib had tons of frizzle on it and glob of ricotta was not necessary. read more

I'm surprised by the lower reviews of Sarento's and glad I still went anyway! Last weekend, my husband and I decided to give it a go! The warm breadsticks with Parmesan and olive oil to dip were delicious! I loved that they had a generous portion of freshly grated Parmesan at the table as well. We each opted to upgrade to a different salad. My husband's Caesar was good and had lots of parm and a crunchy Parmesan chip. My caprese when burrata was incredible! Next, my husband tried the bolognese with pappardelle. He loved it. I opted to go with Alfredo but they happily allowed me to get pappardelle too. It was so good! My husband said it may have even been better than his! Finally, for dinner, we split a tiramisu. I'm not usually a fan but it was light and flavorful and we agreed we should have brought one to go! Service was good and it had nice Italian ambiance! Can't wait to visit again! We've been meaning to eat here for years and finally made it happen. Our family has been coming to the Dells for a long time, and this spot has always been on the list. We showed up as a party of 10 with a reservation, and from start to finish, everything went smoothly. Our server was great. I didn't catch her name (tall female) but she did a great job taking care of our big group. For food, I went with the Bolognese and the Italian chop salad. The wife had the lasagna. Both were excellent. Off the kids' menu, I sampled my daughter's spaghetti and meatballs, also great. The other two had mac and cheese, which was honestly phenomenal. I probably don't want to know the calories in that mac and cheese, but wow, it was good. To nitpick, there were just a couple of small things worth mentioning. Two of our group didn't realize they were getting the upcharged salad. I think my wife asked for Caesar dressing and ended up with the Caesar salad. I knowingly ordered the upcharged Italian chop salad, which was excellent, though I wasn't a huge fan of the vinaigrette dressing. Just personal preference. My family enjoys eating here. It's very much like an independent Olive Garden and it's not the cheapest nor the most expensive place in the Dells, But the pizza is good -- the toppings are fresh and plentiful. It was Friday my wife enjoyed the fish fry and the option of a baked potato. My youngest did not enjoy her spaghetti and meatball, but she's a very picky eater. The broccolini was not to my eldest liking, but she was expecting roasted broccoli, and this was not bad, but not what she was expecting. Avoid the tiramisu it's not great. Instead get the Italian cream cake -- holy cow that was amazing. Service is how to put this good depending on the night you're there. It's all I'm guessing Brazilians flown in like most of the Dells these days who will give you an English name that clearly it's not their actual name but it's the Dells what are you gonna do ? We didn't try any drinks. Water was fine for us and our waters were always full. The breadsticks were good and refilled on demand. Ambience is Italian restaurant with kind of cheesy paintings on the walls of Italian vistas and courtyards and all that. it's definitely a nicer sit down style restaurant but because it's the Dells, there are people in sweatpants in the winter and barely covered up swimsuits when it's summer. Let me start this off by saying I brought my 2 year old on a Wednesday night during the slow season. The atmosphere was nice and we sat by a fire place. We had no reservation and we got a table in a few minutes, around 7. Our food was excellent. My kids' pizza was great, she ate so much of it which is unlike her. My braised beef papardelle was amazing paired with a nice red. The prices were great, although I am used to Chicago a suburb pricing. Our server was patient and very accommodating to my toddler, and she had great recommendations. All in all this was an amazing experience and I highly recommend coming here. Came in on a Friday night for a birthday dinner. It wasn't too busy. We had reservations prior to coming in. I ordered the chicken Parma and it was good. It also came with a salad and I upgraded and got a Caesar salad. The salad was a decent size. There was also complementary breadsticks which was my favorite. I like how there was Parmesan and oil at the table. Was too stuffed to get dessert but since we had a birthday, they gave us free ice cream dessert to share. Definitely had a great experience. So, let's begin with the claim on their website: "From the moment you enter Sarento's, you will experience unique and enjoyable family dining in an authentic Italian setting." OK, the moment we walked in we noticed that it was pretty much an Olive Garden that hadn't been rehabbed setting. The expectations were low, but Italian food is a little more difficult to mess up than say, Thai or Indian. Our low expectations were just the appetizer. We started with arancini rice balls with spinach and pesto on top. The pesto was not edible and the spinach inside tasted like bitter, poorly cooked and prepared spinach, quite possibly from a can and microwaved. It's hard to tell, but the overall impression was seriously poor. Next, the insalata caprese. Basil, olive oil, burrata, and heirloom tomatoes. The tomato was green and pink and had been living its young, unripened life in a fridge. It was totally tasteless and also inedible. When we told the staff, they argued that this was the proper way to serve the tomatoes. As if they had ever actually been to Italy and had a real caprese. The pizza was $25 and our son ate maybe half a slice before having it boxed up for whatever reason. My guess is that Sarento's was started a long time ago with good intentions. Now, it actually made us think Olive Garden isn't so bad after all. They actually serve salads with cheddar, pepper jack, and others with bacon, gorgonzola and avocado and somehow call it Italian. The appetizer is why this restaurant gets 4 instead of 5 stars. We ordered a stuffed shrimp appetizer and received 3 pieces for $16. That seemed a bit steep and surprising to only receive 3 small/medium shrimp. We ate with three people. We wondered if we had 4 people, if they'd then give four pieces of shrimp?! When we first arrived at Sarento's we were told we needed a reservation to be seated in the facility. Well, we did not know that a reservation was needed. We were told that the people who don't make reservations have to sit outside or wait 45 minutes to an hour for inside seating. After being outside all day, we decided to put our name on the list and wait for an inside table. Turned out, another family wanted to sit outside, so we took their reservation. We sat down & we were greeted right away. Drinks & appetizers were ordered. About 10 minutes later, our food was ordered. 20 minutes went by then food arrived. I have to say, I really liked my lasagna dish from my one and only visit to Sarentos. It's $21.99, but it's one of the best lasagna's I've had in my life. That's really saying a lot. My wife got the chicken parm and she didn't like her chicken very much. My kids got the pizza which obviously was a hit. So if you go, I would say plan on getting the lasagna. We also got side salads that were as fresh as can be. That was also a hit with our group. The bill was a bit pricey, but the service was great and I would say a visit to Sarentos is worth it (and get the LASAGNA!) read more

Atmosphere was great except, when I think of Italian food and ambiance I guess I expect easy listening music and not girls just want to have fun. Food was lackluster. Chicken parm! How you take a processed chicken fillet deep fry it then cover it in watery sauce just doesn't do it for me. The lack of flavor didn't help anything. Portion for $25 was ok if It was enjoyable. The spaghetti and meat sauce was huge so that's nice. The "meat" smelled funny and tasted the same. It's clear the sauce isn't homemade as advertised. But the breadsticks were nice! We always wanted to try this place. Over all, the food was good. I had the chicken Marsala and the significant other had gnocchi with a meat sauce. Breadsticks were also served. What we did not like was being seated along a wall with other people we did not know. There appears to be more quaint areas here and next time we go we will request better seating. We had a great experience with the family at Sarento's! Most of us were in the mood for pizza and this place had thin crust- which is surprisingly hard to find in the dells! We all ordered side salads and had the complimentary breadsticks to start off- hot, fresh, delicious. I ordered a glass of wine which they forgot. The service was good, but the waiter who took our order rarely checked on us. However the food runners were awesome! They kept our waters full and were able to bring out my wine when we reminded them. There were several larger parties there at the time so we were just happy to be attended to. We ordered the vegetarian and spicy Gorgonzola thin crust pizzas and the chicken Parmesan. All dishes were tasty, but the spicy Gorgonzola was one of the best pizzas I've had in a while! The service and ambiance was nice but the food was just not that good. I know this is a touristy place and I'm not expecting 5 star experience in little Italy. I understand that many places don't like substitutions but when I asked why I couldn't switch from Alfredo to marinara for one dish they said it was because the sauces are prepared that way (so the Alfredo is made with shrimp and scallops.....ok) So I ordered pasta and clam sauce. It was watered down Alfredo. My wife had the steak (again I don't expect Morton's quality here) but it was slathered in cheese and swimming in some horrendous sauce. My kid simply had spaghetti and meatballs and it looked nice but he even had trouble downing the salty mess that was the meatball.
