I would like to give Sarkis Pastry a lot of credit considering they were probably the first people in the pastry business. My family and I have been buying pastries from there pretty much all my life and we've never been disapointed. The staff is also extremely friendly as well, which is a major plus for me! I think what sets Sarkis pastry apart from all the other pastry shops in Glendale is the fact that their selection includes a lot of traditional lebanese pastries that you won't find anywhere else. It's located off Glendale Blvd. between Chevy Chase and Los Feliz (between Shaky's and 7 11 store). The selection, quality and customer service experience was exceptional. The reason why the baklava here is sooooo good is because of the choice of nuts, people: it's all in the cashews!!! Cashews have a buttery flavor, especially when paired with syrupy phyllo dough. If you compare walnut baklava, which has a harsher flavor with cashew-based baklava, which this place has, you'll know what I'm referring to. On the other hand, I know you can get a combination of whatever you want to get a box to go. I asked the lady, can I get a combination. She tells me (not so nicely) right here, pointing to the piled up boxes they have on the counter. Um, that's nice lady, but if I get a choice of choosing my own assortment, because your website says so (and you're supposed to if I request), then do me a favor and don't be so lazy by slyly pushing me towards pre-packaged goods. I was very disappointed, this place use to have quality products, I purchased Burma and ashta saraya, Burma's outer shell was half inch thick dough and little pistachios very bland taste and the Ashta Saraya normally is bread on bottom and thick layer cream on top and heavily sprinkles of pistachio, Sarkis's Ashta saraya was bread on bottom little vey little cream center and another bread on top, you can tell it is made with regular milk instead of heavy wipe cream, Sarkis go back to making things when you had pride in your products pride, you keep doing this one day you'll find out your out of business read more

This is the best place in Los Angeles for baklava. They don't make it too sweet so it's perfect. They also make great knefe & on the weekend they have kaak el asrooniah (yummy with zataar). I signed up to bring dessert to a potluck and since our kitchen is too small to actually be functional (we store our pots and pans in the stove and don't really have a place to put them when the stove is in use) I decided to buy my dessert. The thing is I love Baklava. I crave it whenever I am not eating it. So, since life is all about me, I decided that Baklava would be what I would take. Thing is, it is expensive, often $1.50 for one small piece. So I yelped Baklava and came up with Sarkis. Good, not too far away, and not too expensive. And it was easy to find - a huge plus for someone who needs a GPS device inserted into their forehead. Once I arrived I couldn't believe what I saw. A huge counter with rows and rows of pastries. . . and rows and rows of Baklava of all different kinds. They have tons of different kinds of cookies, pastries and Baklava. The cookies sell for $6/lb. The Baklava for $8/lb. I purchased three dozen Baklava (six different varieties) for $16. I couldn't believe it. And they were so yummy. They've got the baklava (the stuff with layers of phillo dough and nuts and honey), they've got little marzipan candies; they've got an array (and I do mean array) of European pastries--eclairs, fruit tarts, cookies... The other reviews are correct, the staff is very friendly, she even let my friend who's never had baklava try a piece. The baklava was really nice. I liked the o.g. one made with pistachios, but they have some made with almonds and walnuts. In addition to baklava, they have Italian looking cookies as well as the regular bakery fair (i.e. slices of cakes that look pretty). The place is very clean. There is very little seating though, I wish they had more. I'd say it's more of a pick up and go kind of place. read more

My husband introduced me to this bakery a few years ago and it's located so close to his home. The pastries are amazing and the prices are reasonable for the quality you're getting.
