My wife and I love Sarku at the malls so we were super excited to find one that was a restaurant - ish. We ordered chicken and shrimp teriyaki and it was delicious, exactly what we wanted. I was a little disappointed with the amount of steamed vegetables I received with my meal. I wanted more but it seemed that I may have only received maybe three spoonfuls of veggies. Oh well. The restaurant itself was pretty clean, but we did arrive right when they were opening for the day. No complaints. Will definitely be back for this again. read more

The food was really mediocre. I had the shrimp teriyaki bento box. There was wayyyy too much sauce on the food and the dressing on the salad was too sweet ans also excessive. The pineapple tasted weird and the California roll had too much mayo. I wouldn't eat here again. read more

Decent fast food version of teppanyaki. I usually get the teriyaki chicken bento box with noodles, side salad, 4 pieces of California roll and pineapple. I don't know how this has good reviews. I hate to leave a bad review but i am appalled about the quality of the food served here; it is borderline (potentially) dangerous. I have given this particular location THREE tries to redeem them selves. I do NOT lie when I say they serve gray fish. YES. GRAY. I only ever get spicy tuna when I go to Sarku (I have three locations I frequent, two of which i go to 2-3 times a week). The first time I got food here the tuna was LEGIT gray. it also smelled very fishy. Threw away 3 rolls (aka $18?). Second time the fish was at least slightly pink (with a gray hue). Trash. Third time pink gray again and smelled very strong.Trash. Sushi shouldn't smell or taste like that for one thing, and it shouldn't be gray! They could really kill someone. This is not fit for consumption. I am surprised this place hasn't been shut down if even just for a day to train the workers and reevaluate where they get their products from. I'l give them the benefit if the doubt that the food isn't tainted, but still who wants to eat putrid ocean smelling cat food? Not me. One last note: for anyone's knowledge I am a former chef who is very very qualified in this sort of thing and very experienced in the realm of food safety and handling. This place used to be my spot. But not anymore. Customer service is crappy. Girl on the register was texting while she was taking my order and she didn't crack a smile. I ordered the shrimp teriyaki with brown rice. The shrimp and veggies were good but the rice taste old and dryed out, or not cooked all the way. I started to go to Chipotle or Subway. Next time I will. Then they don't even give you that much food. Little bit of veggies and rice. Smh read more

This is one of my best places. I've been there for dinner. I had noodle with chicken teriyaki and some sushi roll. The food was wonderful. Soda fountain machine is on hall. I heard about this place from a friend. I was with a friend when we got the food and ever since then i have been determined to go back. I usually enjoy Sarku's food but when I went to purchase my Binto box they were out of beef. I settled for shrimp because I don't care for their chicken and it was alright to say the least. Went to Sarku Japan on 1/17/2015. I purchase a teriyaki noodles with shrimp and teriyaki noodles with cabbage. My wife and children ate both dishes. Shortly after, maybe 30mins to 1hr, my daughter starts throwing up, headache and stomach pain. On 1/18/2015 in the morning my sons get sick, same symptoms, throwing up , stomach pain and headache. My wife became so sick on 1/18/2015 i thought about taking her to the emergency room, same symptoms. My daughter celebrated her birthday being sick all weekend long. My sons stay home from school today 1/20/2015 because of being sick. The food from Sakura Japan made my entire house sick, except me, I didnt eat that day. I will never eat there again nor recommend it to anyone. read more

Last night was my first visit to any Sarku location, and probably last. I'm going to guess that they just opened this location because the cashier and another employee were being trained and the place was quite disheveled. The food was hot, but the steak was tough and tasted slightly spoiled. Flavor was quite bland - expected more out of a teriyaki dish. Disposed of the $10 dish after only 2 bites, then went to Micky D's across the street to make sure my taste buds weren't "off" due to allergies. They weren't - the 'large' mac was delish! read more

Overall I was very pleased with my experience. The cashier at the register was very nice and knowledgeable and the other cashier helping too. I had some picky requests with my bento box but everything I asked for was done exactly to the letter and the flavor was on point! The only issues were the walls need some paint and the tile is coming off and there was issue with the ice machine so no ice. Otherwise great job I will definitely be back!! read more

The experience I just had was HORRIBLE!!! Service was NOT good!! The cooks were not paying attention to the orders that were given to them which resulted in several customers orders having to be made over which is unacceptable! The manager and employees were not on the same page getting the orders to the customers in a timely manner, I observed them repeatedly opening and closing customers food containers because they were unsure of what customer ordered what. I think both the staff and management needs more training as well as a better system to help satisfy the customers. read more

This is a place for quick pseudo-Japanese food. We had the Teriyaki Chicken / Teriyaki Beef noodle + Salmon Rolls. The teriyaki meats weren't too bad, the Sriracha sauce definitely helped. The noodles were overly greasy and vegetable was only ice berg lettuce and tasted awful. On the Salmon Rolls, I would not recommend it. Low grade ingredients were used. Specifically rice, sea weeds, cucumbers (should have used avocado) and small piece of salmon. Overall, the prices weren't too bad for a quick meal, but we've had more satisfying food for the same price. The food was quickly prepared and served so kudos there. read more

I go here almost everyday for lunch. They pre cook the chicken when the're slow. It sits on the corner of the grill getting all dried out for god knows how long. I can definitely tell the difference between the pre cooked dried up chicken to the freshly cooked chicken. I ask for fresh chicken and they always act like its a big deal. Yesterday I asked for fresh chicken and they lied and said they were all out of chicken and the old dried out stuff is what they had. I never complain about stuff. This is the first time I have ever wrote a review about a restaurant. I always put up with the black stuff in the ice at the foutain machine. Just dump out the dirty ice till I get decent clear ice with no black stuff in it. But I really want fresh chicken. This is the only Sakura place I have been to that pre cooks the chicken and leaves it on the side of the grill to dry out. Very unsatisfied customer. read more

To be honest, this Sarku restaurant is better than any other Sarku in MD. Their teriyaki was fresh also they give you more than other places. Especially, the sushi was tasty. My work is near many restaurants but I always go there! Staffs are kind the services are great!. I hope you all stop by and try their food! read more
