There is bar seating to the right of the restaurant with table tops and 1 TV I believe, but it was full. After being seated, I ordered a hot sake on this cold night and my friend ordered a strawberry drink that was strong. Our appetizer was the Thai Spring Rolls in which you get 2 but they cut them into 4 because they're so big. Our main dish consisted of 2 sushi rolls- The crunchy specialty roll and the lobster roll. They were huge! We thought we would start out with these and then order more but it was plentiful. Wow. How have I been around this spot for so many years and not been here!? My sister suggested this spot years ago and I still never tried it until this week. I got two rolls. The staff was friendly and helpful. I went on a random Tuesday evening after work so it wasn't packed. There's a bar off to the side and a bunch of booths to sit in. You can also sit at the sushi bar and watch the sushi chef prepare your sushi order, which I thought was cool. Both rolls I ordered were very good! I haven't made a review in a while but felt the need too since ordering carry out twice in the recent couple of weeks and would say that the food quality and attention to detail in my request from a carry out standpoint was all met. In the special instructions part the followed everything that I requested for and their food was very tasty. It just makes me want to keep ordering from here and trying more things. We've been coming here for years I remember when it first opened, everything was beautiful, clean, and the food was amazing. We've brought so many family members and friends over the years because the quality used to be top-notch. Unfortunately, since new management took over, things have really gone downhill. The restaurant was dirty, there was only one working stall in the women's bathroom, and the door was left open . Door handle was taped holding it into place. completely unacceptable. Now onto the food: we ordered chicken and broccoli and sushi, and the quality has seriously declined. The chicken tasted like cheap carryout food. i have visited Ichiban several times over the past 16 years of living in Bowie, beginning when it was only a one-store-sized restaurant. We normally go there for special occasions like after I bought my car. We did have a lackluster experience during COVID and walked out one time - but most places were overwhelmed around here I'm sure. So today I just came back from lunch with my daughter's BF, and I must say that today the food was as good as it has ever been, shrimp tempura, salmon sushi, szechwuan beef, and breaded chicken were all fresh, along with the salad and miso. For a town with very few options of this caliber, it remains one of the best restaurants in Bowie IMHO and I'm posting with 5 stars because this is easily a 4.0 restaurant for Bowie and Ill be bold enough to encourage Ichiban staff and management, and its happy regulars, to work toward raising that average. read more

I've willingly patronized this location with no issues, however, yesterday irritated me to my core. I sat at the bar and order Crispy Shrimp/Chicken with Walnuts and cream sauce. I've ordered this same selection with no problems in past (last year), however, upon receiving my order and taking bites, the chicken bites where entirely too hard, the meat was totally dry and hard to chew. The waitress disappeared for long moments, and when she return to the bar, I told her about my dish. Her response to me was, this is how we cook the food. Her tone was cold and non-caring. She never said, let me make this right or send mgmt to me. She then disappeared again so I had to ask the front desk to please call her. Worst place to get sushi .. my sister invited me to come here because she know how much I love sushi. Unfortunately, everything was nasty. Me and my friend both got the spicy tuna roll and it was nasty, it literally only had tuna in the roll & it looked old i ate only & was done, the ginger was DARK PINK like it had been dipped in pickled onion juice. California Roll, Shrimp Tempura, Shrimp Tempura Roll (spicy mayo sauce tastes great), Ichiban Green Salad (extra dressing because it's bomb), Spider Roll, Boston Roll, Miso soup, Edamame. Seems like the people with a "bad experience" haven't gone there more than once? Maybe they have outrageous expectations? Which cracks me up They always know what I'm going to order - and they have never gotten an order wrong, ever. I absolutely love sushi and I don't mind spending the money to get it, even though it's not cheap. I have one preferred sushi restaurant in Crofton, one in Bowie and one in Annapolis. All of them are a bit pricey, so to speak, but when it comes to sushi...if you're going to spend more compared to "other food", you should always buy what has QUALITY (worth the money). Since this establishment is under a new owner I figured I'd give them a shot even with the poor reviews. Went to happy hour and we absolutely enjoyed the entire experience. Drinks were on point (kinda hard to mess up draft beer) staff was surprisingly friendly and accommodating. Especially, our bartender, Jackie and Sushi Chef Vincent which I believe is the new owner. I ordered the Sashimi Regular and asked for specific fish versus random ones and they were able to accommodate my request. I, thoroughly, enjoyed my meal!! I was disappointed when it was all gone. The lounge/bar area could use newer seats as they were ripped and was uncomfortable to sit on with shorts. I didn't really like my meal and didn't take a picture but it would be unfair to rate anything less than 3 as I haven't tried other things on the menu. Well I guess there's a first time for everything. I generally love this place and the food is always so fresh and tasty. Today I ordered the Thai style red snapper that wasn't so fresh. It didn't taste good at all!! The bartender had the manager come over to address my dissatisfaction. After telling her it didn't taste fresh, she said the fish just came in yesterday. She then said "I need to know why, I have to have a reason." At that point I told her not to worry about it. As she rolled her eyes, she asked what else do want. I've been here a couple of times and ordered the the Money Bag appetizer, which is their version of crab rangoons, both times they were super creamy and filled with lots of crab meat. Yummy! Forgot what my meal was called, some type of an Indonesian spiced combination of fresh veggies, beef chicken and shrimp. This dish was spicy pepper hot flavor and extremely mildly flavored with other seasonings. I've ordered a vegetables and beef dish which was not good. I was utterly disturbed at this places policy. I put in an order for take out ( I added a good tip), then I changed my mind and wanted to eat inside the restaurant since my little niece was with me. They told me there would be a very large gratuity with absolutely no care or thought about the customers. This has been my third time this month eating here! I usually go into DC for great Chinese food; however, this is a definite yes. It's fresh, tasty and the atmosphere is welcoming. Oh men oh men!! We have found our new date night regular!! I moved from Laurel a few months ago and have been missing my regular spots. A friend recommended this place and we are in love!! We reserved a room for a couples event. They have a minimum order and # of people which is understandable. They have a good variety of dishes from your "traditional" orange chicken to specialties like whole fried fish or curry dishes (all delish btw) and prices ranged from $10 - $30 The honey ribs, calamari and spring rolls where very yummy and good portions. Everyone was very happy with the food and the service was attentive and friendly. The bar side was popping and the fresh sushi bar kept busy. I was in the area and decided to give this place a shot. 2pm for a late lunch. They have several lunch specials that are a pretty good deal. I got the 3 roll lunch special for $15.00 bucks. The rolls are delicious. Nothing wrong with them at all. My only "Issue" was the wasabi looked a little too green, but it tasted fine, so it didn't really matter. The lunch special includes both soup and salad, which made the value better. Fair warning, they included gratuity on my bill as a solo diner, so i suspect they just do it across the board. I personally do not like when places do this, but it is what it is. The service was decent, but the clientele, I noticed can be difficult. While i was there, I heard several different tables complain about substitutions and such. Another thing I noticed was the menu looked familiar. On top of no one being available when I arrived for pickup one of the rude employees got into a dispute with me and told me to "F*%K off and to F#@K my monkey mother where I came from" when I told her there needs to be someone available for pick up orders who isn't on the phone Facetiming when customers arrive. I am a Black man and this was 2 Asian Women who behaved this way towards me and then threatened to call the cops on me when THEY refused to return my credit card.
