I attempted to use the app to order food at approximately 7:50pm on Sunday, March 15, 2026. I received the message that the restaurant was not taking orders. I drove 12 min to the restaurant and the entry door was locked. Someone was there to pick up an order at the same time I arrived and was let into the restaurant. In addition, there were approximately 5 people eating in the restaurant and there was a worker at the register and workers behind the grill. The gentleman who came to open the door, stated they were finished. I explained to him that the I attempted to order online and he said I could order online until 8:30pm. I looked at my watch and told him it was only 8:13pm. I was unable to order food. The restaurant closes at 9pm. This is bad business. Avoid this place. read more

I was craving some stir fry teriyaki. Of course Sarku is a chain so nothing to go wow about however, quality and service goes along way, The cashier server wasn't the most enthusiastic. Also they advertise sushi rolls that apparently they don't make according to the server. Also the orders were incorrect. I asked for spicy and they gave me regular. They also gave a little bit of vegetables unlike before they would give a bit more. The space for veggies in the to-go plate was small and it wasn't even filled. I've ordered twice from them through Uber eats. Haven't loved them this far and don't think I'll order from them again. The first time I ordered two bentos and a miso soup. Honestly the flavor just wasn't there for me but I gave them a second try. The second time we ordered 2 bentos and extra order of 6 dumplings which equal to 12 dumplings and all we received was a 1/4 of a little cup of sauce. Idk how that was logical. I was very disappointed they didn't send a single pack of sauce of any kind but mostly because the dumplings were so dry and without sauce to dip in, it was just tough to swallow. Loved the food! Ordered to go for lunch and super excited I have a Sarku right by my job. I ordered the extreme habachi served with either white or fried rice. I got the fried rice with the teriyaki chicken. They fill up all the plate for a low price! Love love love. I also decided to give sushi another try, had a bad experience with another restaurant years ago. I ordered the shrimp tempura rolls! LOVED IT! Will be my new fav from now on. I'm super happy with Sarku and how close it is to my house. Who doesn't love some cheap sushi?? They have some fun roll options. I usually stick to the basics when coming here for obvious reasons. They've been here long enough to judge them fairly, the workers are much better now. They're fast and friendly. I've gotten a bento box before and while it's good I still enjoy the sushi better. It's good when I'm in a rush and just want something quick for dinner. Not to mention, cheap! It's a big restaurant, lots of seating. I love that it's always clean, they definitely maintain it well for how busy they get. They have tons of sauce options too. The only drawback to this location is the parking lot. Anytime after 4pm on weekdays and all day weekends it's a madhouse! I would definitely just park farther away and be safer. There's some crazy drivers in this area. read more

I saw the storefront for Sarku Japan at Kearny Plaza and became immediately interested since I usually only see these inside food courts. I ordered the shrimp teriyaki combo-- you can choose between water or soda, and spring roll vs dumpling vs Cali roll. FYI-- inside dining is still not open as of 4/24/21. I saw a bunch of 5 star reviews and also some 1 star reviews so really didn't know what to expect but trust when I say that it's extremely underwhelming. They don't actually cook the protein with the sauce, and the little container of teriyaki sauce was bland and not flavorful enough to balance out the unseasoned noodles or boiled cabbage/broccoli medley. If it was cooked in sauce like the marketing photos I bet it would taste better. read more

I used to really like going here. Yes, I know its not a traditional Sushi place and is very "franchisee and mainstream" to appeal to the masses, but I didn't mind. It was easy, delicious and quick! My biggest issue is 9 months ago or so, they stopped making "ready to order sushi" and completely changed their sizing. The rolls and sushi pieces were essentially cut in half at the same price. They now have "happy hour" where they serve their leftover prep-packaged rolls for 50% off after 7. Honestly, unless you're going after 7, I would avoid. I've only ever ordered for delivery here. Mostly everything is fine, except for the inconsistencies in their bubble tea. Sometimes the tapioca would be SEVERELY undercooked. There needs to be some sort of quality control for whatever comes out of the kitchen, whether it's for dine in, take out, or delivery customers.
