I love the vibrant colors on the inside of the restaurant. They have items on the menu are new and trending, which is cool. I got some treats for some clients and was able to get a variety of baked desserts.

We were in town for a concert and my birthday, and decided to go for a nice breakfast for my…read morebirthday. Did some online research and kept coming back to Buttermilk Kitchen. Couldn't have been happier with our choice. Reviews I'd seen online mentioned parking is a bit limited and that the restaurant is frequently busy. So we were prepared for that even though we were going on a Thursday mid morning. I think there was an influx of people celebrating graduations because it was in fact very busy. However we got very lucky with parking and happened to come in right as someone was leaving. I was sure we would have a wait for a table, which of course would have been fine, but actually we were seated immediately! Which was super nice and unexpected. The atmosphere is bustling but not in a bad way. The restaurant itself is adorable and has a lot of character. It feels like you're having breakfast at an old friend's house. The service was great and our food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. I ordered a specialty coffee, I believe it was the almond joy cold brew, and it was delicious. Strong, which is how I like it and not overly sweet. I ordered the chicken biscuit on the waiter's recommendation and it was absolutely the best fried chicken I've ever had. Juicy and crispy. My husband ordered the pimento cheese omelette and was very happy with it, the bacon was thick cut and smoky and flavorful. The pimento cheese grits that came on the side for me were also a stand out, such great flavor. The biscuits are fantastic and the blueberry basil jam that came with my husband's meal was such a nice touch. We will absolutely make a point to come back to Buttermilk Kitchen next time we visit the Atlanta area.

TL;DR: Super cute spot with decent breakfast offerings and great staff. Don't go out of your way to…read morecome, but worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood. First things first: the Chicken Biscuit. Buttermilk Kitchen's biscuit is on the crunchy, honey-flavored side. I personally prefer fluffier, more buttery biscuits, so this one wasn't my favorite. That aside, the chicken was crispy and well-seasoned and paired well with the cheese grits. If you ever wanted a dry, crunchy version of Homegrown's Comfy Chicken Biscuit, come give this a shot. I also tried the Hash Bowl, which was a bit underwhelming. It was a *lot* of potatoes compared to the eggs and bacon bits, and there wasn't a lot of seasoning other than the bacon. Would rather recommend one of the other options if you end up visiting. The drinks are good as well, would recommend the matcha latte (not too sweet!) and the French Press coffee.

Waffle House offers all day breakfast and comfort diner food. The all-star special was a phenomenal deal because it included a full size breakfast for $15; coffee and juice are not included. The toast was on the soft side, but it was great for dipping into the egg yolks. The grits were thick and creamy. The bacon was cooked crisp and brittle with minimal amount of grease. Based on the restaurant name, it was a no-brainer that I explored the waffle. It was a thinner waffle, but it still had a soft chewier texture. (Typically, I would expect Belgian waffles to be softer because they are thicker.) This waffle was decent, but it would not have won any waffle competition. Overall, I received an abundant amount of food for a very competitive deal. This breakfast is a great way to start the day! #wafflehouse #allstarspecial #wafflehouseatlanta

The people next to us didn't get their food either. Our server was also the cashier. She was eating a waffle with her hands at the front counter. We watched our food get served to other people and we continued to wait. The people next to us asked her what was going on and she told us the food was burned.....what an odd thing to say in an open kitchen style restaurant where we can see everything going on. People were sat after us got their meal paid and left by the time our concern was resolved. The manager that ended up assisting us was nice. I finally got the missing food and skedaddled.

After being seated just before 3pm, it took almost an hour to even get beignets. I had to ask for water for our table because our waitress was all over the place and forgot. Our silverware had only knives (2 in one) no forks. Our orders were the simplest thing (avocado toast, eggs, bacon, coffee) and we didn't get the beignets until almost 3:45pm. It wasn't even busy the way I've seen it be on other weekends so the delay for a such a small party seemed odd. Multiple tables around us had theirs before our waitress even remembered to bring fried bread? Wild. I asked if the egg that was part of my meal was boiled, they said it was poached and surprise -- it was boiled. So they didn't know the menu. My food was obviously put together quickly (after complaining about the wait to the manager) and was so bland, I don't see the point in coming back. I know they have better dishes, but the simple ones shouldn't be that complicated. The whole situation made no sense from the beginning to end. It's ironic that the manager said we would be in great hands as we got seated, because my experience was anything but great. Two stars because they were at least polite about it, but that was ridiculous.
