I paid about $15 for three rolls and a side of spicy mayo. This place is cash only so keep that in mind. The service was quick and there were two tables to eat but it was fairly small. It's a value sushi place and you really can't go wrong. There are days I know I can just make sushi myself and I _still_ come here because I know it's faster and cheaper to do so. It's no where close to pretty much any sushi you'd spend $50 on, but also for $25 you have enough food for two people. So no complaining there. Their spicy mix with fish is really good, especially with white fish. The sesame oil is very fragrant and tasty. The quality, despite the price, is still decent. So glad I found this hole in the wall takeout sushi place with great price and solid fish quality!! You can get 7 regular rolls for $25 (each roll comes with 8 small pieces) but they also have other options including sashimi. The salmon roll turned out to my favorite because I was pleasantly surprised by how rich and fresh the salmon was! Their eel avocado was tasty with appropriately ripe chunks of avocado, but just wished the eel to avocado ratio was higher. Their spicy yellowtail and spicy tuna rolls were pretty solid with a nice kick in flavor. The black pepper tuna also exceeded my expectations cause the tuna had a strong smoky and peppery flavor. You can order via phone or in person. On a busy Friday night we waited for about 30 mins for our food cause it was popping. Service was decent and it looked like a mom and pop shop. The staff were very friendly as well. It's a very small space with only a couple tables to sit in at the front, most of the place is just the kitchen and a small counter to order. And although the price was low, I will say though, the rolls definitely felt a bit smaller than other sushi places (but still tastes very fresh and delicious), so I think that's likely how they are able to keep their costs down. One of my fave spots in all of Manhattan for food. I'm not even *into* Sushi, but this is expert, dreamy, delicious, otherworldly sushi that's so cheap, it feels like it's being given away. I mean, the subway here might seriously cost you more than your Sushi. This is legitimately some of the best - and also cheapest - Sushi I've ever had... So imagine my shock that it is located in the fanciest part of Upper East Side Manhattan. It's takeout only and I can see why, because this is absolutely phenomenal spectacular sushi at bargain-basement prices, and it's made to order, it's beautifully prepared, and tastes nothing less than perfect. Okay everyone needs to temper down with the 5 star reviews. I get it, extremely cheap sushi, fresh fish, yes I'll give you both of those points. However, think about what you're paying for. I ordered a triple box, and chose the spicy option. Spicy salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, spicy yellowtail roll, salmon nigiri, tuna nigiri, and yellowtail nigiri. The rolls were small, but definitely filling. My major negative was that the rolls had like a tempura crunch/rice crispy almost type ingredient, and so you lose out on more fish in favor of this ingredient (makes sense why it's so cheap). Although I like different textures, this did not help it. One other odd thing I noticed was that the seaweed was abnormally chewy, something I've only experienced with cheap sushi. Rice was good, fish fine, although I honestly couldn't tell the difference between any of the three rolls because of the spicy mayo. The three nigiri were decent. However, the fish to rice ratio was way off- too much rice and a very small sliver of fish. Again, the rice was good, just terrible ratio. Listen at the end of the day, you get what you pay for, and for the UES...$14 for that much sushi, call it a day. (However, in my opinion, if you want hole in the wall sushi on the UES...go with Roy's Fish Market at 63rd and 1st instead. read more
