Went here Friday night. Not that good people. Had Toro, did not melt in my mouth as it should. Was too cold like it was kept on ice. The albacore was also the same, kinda wet. Dis not taste like it should. I've had way better quality sushi. If u like rolls with lots of sauce then come here. If u eat sashimi or real sushi then go elsewhere. Then again can't expect too much for Mission Viejo. I recommend that people try a sushi spot in an Asian city/neighborhood then u will have quality sushi. Anywhere else is just sub par. No longer their regular customer now. Their prices are higher than most other sushi restaurants, and initially the quality of their food justified it. However, that quality is going down along with service. Spent over $80 for 5 cut rolls that would typically be served at any standard restaurant for closer to $50-60. Too bad, perhaps they got too complacent and their ego too inflated. read more

This place is a truly hidden gem in Mission Viejo, amazingly fresh sushi and rare items you only find in $$$$ sushi places. I would definitely ask for off the menu items as Sushi chef has fresh of the day that he reserves for affictionado. Was in town and looked up local Sushi restaurants and being the yelper I am... I decided to give it a try. Customer service is GREAT! They are fast and friendly. The sushi is slightly above average; one roll is an average of $14-17 dollars. Nothing spectacular about the sushi that would make me come back a second time. read more

Visited this place again since it is conveniently located right next to the hotel I was staying at. Tried the volcano roll and boy was it delicious. I know it's not technically sushi but the mushrooms and crawfish they add to it just gives the volcano roll an edge. Great food and friendly service always deserves a 5 star ! read more

I will never come here again. The service was so slow and horrible! The woman serving us forgot numerous times what we ordered. It was hard to communicate with her because she barely spoke English. We ordered fried rice and it was definitely not fried rice. Basically white rice with no flavor and mixed vegetables. So gross! Never again! read more

The best Japanese restaurant in the area! I have been here for the first time 3 months ago and ever since then I have become a regular here. Peter and Carlos are awesome on the sushi, sashimi, and rolls! And service is the best! My first time here was very slow, maybe me and just 2 other parties. The most recent visits were during the weekday but this place was full! Yet the service was just perfect! Peter made sure I got the most fresh sushi and Carlos made me the best Hot Alaskan Roll I have ever had! Every time I have guests come over, I think about this place. Creative chef who makes really beautiful sushi. The chef is quite dedicated. Most of the fish is very fresh. There are a few pieces though that were not so fresh. This is from 5-ish visits over a few years. But each piece looks great! He does add sauce and flavorings to some of the sushi so if the pure taste of the fish is what you were looking for I'd suggest inquiring about the item you are ordering first. He does add things like sriracha and other spicy or somewhat sour sauces to the fish which in most cases adds to the taste. There are also a number of fun rolls to choose from. Service is always good. But since there are always 1 or 2 fish that aren't the freshest I haven't gone back in a while since there are other options in the area. But I would probably go back just from missing the fun sushi designs and flavors. read more

Love this place!! I'm usually here weekly as I work nearby. Very friendly staff who treat you like family, they know me by name and welcome me like an old friend. The sushi is fresh, served in generous portions, and the menu was recently redone with a ton of original rolls so even particularly picky eaters can find something they like. Location is convenient (right off the 241) with tons of parking. They are quick to throw in extras & even brought me free sushi as a gift for the holidays. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Fairly standard price wise for sushi in South OC, but the fish does seem to be significantly fresher than most local sushi joints(closest to Sushi Plantation/Sushi Ryokan I've found around here). They have a solid selection, but no listed items like yellowtail belly or salmon belly. Sometimes that is off menu or limited supply on hand , though. My highlight of the night was the High Rise Roll. Roll is a bit deceiving, it's tuna, salmon, shrimp, crab, avocado, and Japanese cucumber wrapped in rice paper and served with spicy ponzu. Effectively a mixed sashimi burrito. The yellowtail sashimi was also very good. The service was great and the location is well kept. I'd eat here again. read more

Delicious sushi, fantastic service and friendly staff. A new favorite! Hawaiian rolls were particularly delicious. The chef showed the kids how he made sushi and even got out a live shrimp for them to see, which of course was met with lots of "eeeeeew"s. Will be back for sure! read more
