We go to SASS on special occasions (like anniversary or Valentine's Day). I think they are a little expensive for everyday eating but that's just us. I love their steaks and sides snd they have a nice selection of wine and beer and they do have a good ambience. I would recommend them. read more

When I go to Thomasville, I usually eat at Liam's or Jonah's..or not eat. Today I had a friend visiting and she wanted to have southern fried chicken! I asked a local foodie group on social media and many recommended SASS, and we both enjoyed it. * Atmosphere: not too much decoration, but a bit of southern cuteness. Feels open and comfortable. Outdoor seating is nice. * Service: Our server was very friendly and attentive enough, considering she was one of the two servers during the bush lunch hour. * Food: overall very good! - Sweet tea brined chicken ($12 and two sides. 2 pieces of chicken): This was very nice. Not too salty, and I really liked how crisp the coating was. Thigh was a bit oily (it'd have been nice if it was drained a bit, perhaps), but I really liked it. - Shrimp and grits (Lunch $12): My friend's first time trying or, and she liked it a lot. I.asked for less salt on the shrimp, and it was still quite heavily seasoned. Good quality, if not great, shrimps and very generous portion. Cajun sauce was nice. Grit was a bit coarse but tasted nice . - Baked potato, coleslaw, collard greens (came with the dishes we ordered) were all well seasoned and not too salty. (Too much salt is something I find in a lot of southern food..so I appreciate it when this kind of food is not too salty.) I will definitely come back and try more dishes. I have visited this restaurant several times and for the most part I have had a pleasurable experience however, last night I was completely disappointed my order was wrong and the host decided that because she didn't have the correct change that she would give me what she wanted... ! ..60 cents to be exact the money wasn't the issue it was her attitude! After arriving home Tallahassee to be exact my sides were completely wrong and I was unable to speak with anyone about the situation I was placed on hold several times. We had a bad experience tonight at Sass. It was very cold in the restaurant and the door was always being opened and our table was right next to the door and they did not have a screen to keep the wind from coming in. We ordered and before we got our salad they brought out our steak which they took back and said they were sorry they brought it before we got our salad. After we got our salad they bought the steak back to us which was cold and we had to ask what was on top of it because you could not tell. They told us it was butter. My husband ordered a cup of Gumbo which was also cold and he just left it. All and all the experience was awful and we won't be going back. Quick and friendly service. I ordered the salad and added shrimp. The portion size was great, the greens and veggies were fresh, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The house vinaigrette was extremely tasty. The indoor dining area is very small and there was no "social distancing," so my food was to-go. If you're looking for Southern/Cajun cuisine in south GA, Sass is it! We arrived during lunch hours on a Saturday afternoon and were seated immediately. Since it was a nice day we chose to take advantage of the patio seating outside and enjoy the nice selection of music they had playing. Nick was our waiter on this day and he was awesome from start to finish! We were unsure of which menu selections to make but Nick gave great suggestions and even made a couple of accomodations for us by having the chef omit any pork from our dishes. He checked on us multiple times during our meal and was just pleasant all around. They have a good beer and wine selection but no liquor or mixed drinks yet (still waiting on a liquor license). Once we were ready to order we chose the fried jalapeno dill pickles for our appetizer($9), grilled salmon with green beans plus a side of collards($14), and shrimp and grits with an additional side of green beans and mushrooms for the entrees($14). Just a short while later the fried pickles came out piping hot and crispy with a small side of cool ranch dressing. They were supposed to have a hint of jalapeno kick according to the menu. I didn't taste any that peppery spiciness I was looking forward to but they were still good. The shrimp and grits were better than I anticipated (I've been disappointed with different versions of shrimp and grits in the past). They were tasty and swimming in a thick, creole seasoned cream sauce poured over a tiny amount of delicious cheesy grits. The lunch portion comes with 8 medium sized shrimp and a spoonful of grits so if you're hungry like I was order accordingly. Although good it would've been even better with a little more spice, a thinner sauce(& less of it), and more grits! The salmon dish was delectable and served with a sweet maple syrup and ginger glaze. Compared to everything else, the collards were a bit bland but tolerable. The side of green beans and mushrooms were cooked perfectly with a bit of crunch still left just like I love but they were a little on the salty side. Unfortunately as soon as soon as the food arrived so did the flies. That's just the downside of dining outdoors I guess. We had an enjoyable dining experience and will definitely make a second visit. read more

Great Cajun flair. Creole food can be tough to find in this area. I had the Etouffe over "Plantation" grits. Very well seasoned and extremely good flavor. The menu allowed for portion choices on the entree of dinner or lunch portion, which we very much appreciated. The ambiance was nice as well as the setting is a remodeled train depot in lovely Thomasville, Georgia. Very much recommend for a date night. We finished our meal with a rum bread pudding garnished with vanilla bean ice cream and topped with toasted pecans. Now I finally know why SASS has such a high rating! They deserve every star and more! Stopping in for lunch with a couple friends, we wanted to visit somewhere in Thomasville and SASS jumped to the top of the list! We hadn't visited before, so we gave them a shot! Well, WOW is the best way to describe the lunch we had! After getting seated, our server Bobby helped us through the menu and answered any questions we had. I decided on the Shrimp and Grits. I'm not a Southerner, so Shrimp and Grits are a new and fascinating dish to me and I love trying it out wherever I go. SASS's take on it was delicious, with creamy and flavorful grits that well completely the zip on the creole style shrimp. I added in the asparagus as my side, which was cooked to absolute perfection! Together, I was completely filled up, so it was a real struggle to decide on whether I wanted dessert or not. I couldn't resist though and went with the bananas foster dessert. Definitely yummy, but the bread pudding my fiance ordered was the star! Overall, I couldn't say more good things about SASS and look forward to coming back! read more

I made reservations for my birthday dinner for 5pm. I was never told to arrive 15 minutes early, so I was told to be there at 5 even when they called to confirm nobody ever mentioned 4:45pm. So by now it's 5:15 and the chef, comes up to my table and begins yelling talking about I'm going to need these other tables you where supposed to be here at 4:45 and they couldn't hold the tables but I told him my reservation was for 5pm but he insisted it was at 4:45. The fact that he came out with the wrong attitude is the reason for this review everyone deserves to be talked to with respect we are here to spend our money like everyone else. It's shameful that the only black group of people present at the time get treated with so much disrespect due to miscommunication I'll never eat there again read more

The food was a solid 4. However, our server barely spoke to us and was not personable when he did. We had to ask for drink refills and other items, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. Also, the decor needs to be fixed/updated. There were patches on the walls in various parts of the restaurants that need to be painted. Also the bathrooms need attention, too. Doorknobs that don't work are not appropriate for a bathroom. It just seems like the restaurant has gone down hill. read more

We happened across this gem by accident the end of May, 2020. Turned out it was a very happy mistake, we had been looking for a place for the son's wedding. Bride to be was with us when we stopped and she fell in love. Went back the next weekend for Sunday Brunch and to discuss the option of having the there. We left with stomachs full of magnificent food and a signed contract. Fast forward to 10-10-2020, they were married on the covered patio next to the train track then we ate & partied in the Wagner Room. The staff was beyond amazing, we dropped off decorations Friday & when we arrived Saturday the bride was trying not to cry. Suzette and staff had nailed the look she wanted. The food was amazing.
