I went inside and was greeted fine. I said for two. They said it would be a 30 minute wait. We went next door to schooners to grab a drink. I got a call "Hello you're table is ready." We came back and we're escorted to a table with no issues. I sat there for 40 minutes without being approached. The restaurant did not look busy. I saw 5 tables full and 3 waitresses/waiters attending them. The waitress came to my table finally and I told them I was sorry but I picked another restaurant to go to while I was waiting. This was our first time. The restaurant is nice and clean. There were 6 in our group since it was early we got seated right away. Very nice e staff, excellent service, they. Hecked on us frequently. It started getting busier around 530/6 even though we were finished with our meal they kept checking with us. I will definitely come back to get the crunchy salad and spicy tuna roll! I thought there was only one great sushi restaurant in the antelope valley. I was wrong. There are two and Sato Sushi is one of them. I always order an assortment of sushi, my wife gets the combo dinner, and we get unagi bowl and shrimp tempura for the kids. Very high quality food products and they care about presentation too. Every business experiences days where they're not at the top of their game and Sato Sushi is no exception to that rule. However, when they are not at their best, they're still really good. That's one indicator of a great restaurant. The sushi was near perfection. The appropriate amount of fish and sushi rice (though the ratio is not consistent even on the same plate). Put together well with the rice not too tight and not too loose. The service is pretty slow, but not egregiously so. Definitely not the best place to go if you're in a rush. Family-friendly and you can tell that they form good relationships with their customers if that's what the customer wants. The decor is passable. I think it used to be some sort of night club because there's a disco ball in the middle of the restaurant. Maybe they have karaoke nights? I don't know, I just found that a little odd. The interior is somewhat dim and dated, but clean enough. As long as the food is excellent, the interior won't keep me away. read more

We waited and waited never got our food, saw the family in front of us get up and leave and yell at the waitress for waiting for over an hour for their food. I've been coming here for the past 4 years ordering take out. My go to are the golden crunch roll and spicy tuna roll. The portions are generous and the rolls are fresh. For the price, it's a great bargain. I returned recently and decided to try a new roll. I asked for a recommendation for rolls with salmon, and sure enough the recommendation did not disappoint. Wow! What on earth does anyone see in this place. It was horrible. My teriyaki bowl taste like detergent. The sushi texture was really weird. The California roll had mashed up crab that was pure mush. The albacore was rubbery texture. How the heck does anyone think this is good. We waited 15 minutes and never got our check. We finally had to walk up and ask for it. The sushi chef was sitting at the bar with a customer playing cards. Wow! What a horrible experience. On top of all of this they gave us a bill of 85.00. I have been coming here for over five years to get sushi and it quickly became mine + my families absolute favorite restaurant. They have amazing cooks and sushi chefs. The quality of the sushi is fantastic. Although, in the past couple months I have seen a decline in their service. I've stood inside and waited 20 minutes to even be acknowledged by anyone who works here, been ignored when trying to get anyones attention, been put on hold for ten minutes then hung up on, tried to call and the phone is turned off, and when you ask why the phone is turned off, they talk smack right in front of you. I came on a Saturday night with my girlfriend for some late night sushi at about 9:30pm (they close at 10:30pm.) The hostess let me know that the food was going to take a while and I took the risk. No, no no.. my first clue should have been the sticky floors- so sticky that I thought my shoes would come off not just one area but the entire dinning area! December 31st party of 11 the place is quite, no one there but a man with two small daughters and it took ten minutes for the waitress to come take our order "only" the drinks she said.. okay we're flexible Then around thirty minutes later she returns with our drinks and to take our food order(no joke) eventually we got our food a couple orders at a time not so great for us since we were all hungry and wanted to actually eat together. When I got home.. yup diarrhea, then the next person and the next. Should have listened to our first instincts... sticky floors probably equals dirty kitchen and sushi is such a precarious type of food to order. honestly, i used to think this place was good but they've seriously gone down hill. I've witnessed numerous people send their order back to be corrected on multiple occasions. I've even overheard one of the chefs advise a server to lie to a customer about the contents of their dish. YIKES! On top of that, the fish tastes kinda old, especially the uni.(which is my favorite) It takes at least an hour to have any food brought to your table, no matter what it is, even the appetizers. I've also witnessed them not charge for certain items due to the huge inconveniences that customers have to endure. No matter if they're busy or not, service has always been the same. Not a place for 2 young children. 2 hour wait for our food then took 2 rolls home kids got ansy after being there over 2 hours 1 roll was wrong was taken off the bill. 1 roll paid for never received. Seems if the owner is gone the cats do play. So much drinking at the bar the rest of the patrons were forgotten. Others came were served their meal after we arrived. Good and service is always excellent here. We ordered an appetizer of Garlic Edamame. Simply outstanding! I could Order this with a glass of plum wine and be happy. My husband and I had the dinner box with hot sake and plum wine. Again, perfect timing and served exactly as ordered. The staff was very attentive and checked in on us frequently. We were happy to discover that Sato had outdoor dining so we checked it out and let's just say it is our new sushi spot. Everything is so good, from the crunch salad, Sato special roll (Keto friendly, and they do have a couple of other keto options as well), feliz navidad, the Gold Crunch is one of our faves.
