The sushi restaurant I usually go to is closed due to the coronavirus so I decided to give Sato Sushi a try and let me tell you they did not disappoint the sushi was delicious when I went in to pay everybody was super friendly the chef and the owner were super nice I was asked to wait another five more minutes because I did come in a little bit early to pick up so I understood that they were still working on my order so I went outside to my car to wait and told him I'll be back in five minutes to get my order not even five minutes later the owner came out with my order and delivered it to my car I got home and ate some bomb sushi my cravings were seriously satisfied thank you guys I'm definitely going to order from them again!!! read more

We decided to come to Sato Sushi on a weeknight for dinner. Given the many wonderful reviews, I was very excited and filled with anticipation and imagined spectrums of foods hot and cold. A few of us selected the AYCE ($26.99) and another ordered a 2 item bento ($14.99). The combination bentos had a modest selection to choose from, and was good in terms of both taste and time from kitchen to table. The AYCE consisted of 2 rounds, and selections were extensive if one prefers to eat sushi rolls. They do not offer uni or oyster. Although they offer sashimi salad, shrimp, calamari and halibut, there is a limit of only one order per person. The baked mussels are limited to 5 orders per person. We were quite famished as we submitted our order only to have to wait between orders for quite some time. As the establishment was not busy, one could only suspect this was a set up that involved one's ability to heartily consume versus one's unfortunately slow metabolism. Despite my suspicion, I made the decision to accept that a destiny of great dining experience regardless of the amount I would eat would still be a grand memorable one. After all, it is about quality over quantity, right? Unfortunately, the sight of my first dish upon arrival left my excitement quite subdued. Nonetheless, I would never argue with an empty stomach and began to partake in the sushi salad before me. There were small chunks of salmon and tuna, and as I ate, I couldn't help but feel a growing fear that the dinner experience would end with a disappointing crush to my sushi dream. As I chose to be an optimist, during the long in-between, I imagined that the upcoming dishes would be much better. As our dinner was long and drawn out due to the slow expedite, I will summarize the rest of the experience below, rather than draw out my review with the same length of time we spent there: Appetizers: The mussels were overbaked and dry, and the calamari was okay (although they were heavily battered rings similar to onion rings). I ended the meal with edamame just to give my palette a change, and that became the highlight of my meal. Roll: We ordered only one roll because we assumed the rolls would be large, and preferred to order more sashimi to fill our bellies. When the roll arrived in all of its flaming glory (we ordered the Viking which comes in 4 pieces), we blinked our eyes to see that there were indeed four pieces, but the size of perhaps a larger sized maki roll. In all honesty, I don't recall too much of an extraordinary taste, but I am sure it was okay. We opted not to order any more rolls. Sashimi: We ordered several varieties. In particular, the albacore came to the table with a dry and stiff appearance. I would say it tasted as such. The notable sashimi was the tuna. There was a slight richness and it left our palettes quite satisfied. The sashimi, overall, did not seem to be very fresh and lacked taste. In the end, sadly, it seemed my fears were justified as my sushi experience ended not with my call to destiny, but the mistaken choice of a satisfying sushi destination. read more

Kind of disappointed they they're no longer doing AYCE, but I understand adaptions had to be made after lockdowns. Regardless, the quality is great, I've never really had a bad roll there and the portions are fair on my opinion. Yeah, sure you can get cheaper sushi elsewhere but as a Upland local I've found that you're going to be sacrificing quality or portioning hence why this is my go to sushi spot oh and the manager Tony is a great and outgoing guy. read more

I live in Pasadena but I come down here to see a friend time to time and he recommended this spot. I'm going to say it was really good. We ordered oysters and went on with the AYCE menu. For the price it was great. Can't complain I'll be back again soon. read more

Came here for dinner New Year's Day because a lot of places were closed. The servers were super sweet and nice, but I felt like the food was not worth the price. All you can eat was $30 a person and compared to other local sushi places it fell short for me. :/ read more

Good sushi, bad experience. Was told after the fourth round of AYCE by wait staff that the chef had cut us off. Then another wait staff quickly came by and said they were kidding. Our table felt fat shamed and embarrassed and we ended up leaving quickly. I have been here before and wanted to give my guests a great experience since I had been here before and remembered it was good. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. I absolutely love this place! I come here all the time when I want my sushi fix. Now don't let the all you can eat fool you, I know what you're thinking. That cardinal rule that says all you can eats always about quantity over quality, well forget that rule my friend! Sato turns that around with amazing and delicious sushi that will satisfy your picky taste buds! Their quality is still very much there in both their regular rolls and the all you can eat. It's crazy! I'm in love with their non rice rolls and their sushi. I'm a big raw fan so having a lot of options for baked, raw and fried is a great thing! All their sauces are delicious, never watered down or funky tasting. The chefs and staff are very nice and greet you at the door. Even when I had a picky family member flag them down they did their best to accommodate them and never once blinked an eye to a request. I love this place and not once have been disappointed. I drive all the way from Hesperia CA just to eat here! Definitely one of my favorite top spots! read more

This place is my go to sushi spot. The owner was super chill today he even speaks Spanish slang lol. All employees are so kind, and are always smiling. I have brought so many people here. I work in riverside but make the drive here because of the salmon, it is the freshest I've ever had. I love the magnolia roll, the salmon, squid, and quail egg shooters. I honestly don't know how this place got so many stars. It was the worst sushi I've ever had. The avocado wasn't fresh. They were browning all over. The sushi was warm and the rolls weren't correct. A rainbow roll is one of the simplest rolls you can order and even that didn't taste right. The sauces they used were nasty. I wouldn't ever go back. Had a great time here. Excellent sushi, superb service and quite an entertaining atmosphere. The owner Tony, who introduced himself as Tony Montana was so friendly and just made you feel so welcome. This will now be our regular sushi spot. I tried it months ago after he had just purchased the shop. The service was ok and sushi was ok then the bill hit me hard in the pocketbook so I hadn't been back. So I searched tonite on Yelp for sushi and didn't even look at names just the stars. This place had 4.5 stars! So after looking through some pics and reading some reviews, I had to give it another chance. So glad I did! You won't be disappointed!!Definitely a must try! As of now this has to be my favorite sushi spot. You walk in and the ambience is lively yet not overwhelming. You're greeted upon entry and seated promptly should circumstances allow it. They have an all you can eat option which seems to be the best thing to go with in my opinion. Everything tastes fresh and authentic.
