The wait was definitely worth it. All the ingredients were very fresh, and the sushi rice was prepared well. The portion was generous and filling without being too much and I really enjoyed the variety of fish in the bowl. A very cute mom and pop shop that I would definitely come back to try more of their menu!

We thought it was an anomaly until yesterday when we had one of our favorites, the salmon skin hand roll and it came with salmon skin that was undercooked, not crispy. We enjoy the restaurant and love the hamachi collar so we're not giving up yet, just keeping our fingers crossed.

Firstly, they kept bringing the wrong orders to the wrong tables, sometimes fully leaving the order there, getting called over to be told it was wrong, & taking food that had already been left at a another customer's table to deliver it to the correct customer. I wouldn't mention it except that it happened 4+ times during the hour we were there & it's a food safety hazard. Second, they use far too much rice. I get that lots of rice is a way to fill customers up, but truly biting into the sushi was just biting into a mouthful of rice every time. You have to do rice surgery to get the ratio right, & they *will* come over & tell you to finish the rice to avoid charges. Expect to spend a lot of time begrudgingly eating/filling up on the mountains of rice. However - LOVE the miso soup. I'd return for rolls but likely not for regular sushi/AYCE.

If I had to pick between the two, I think I'd order the ika gesso as the calamari was lightly fried and the sauce was really good. We followed with salmon carpaccio and it was so fresh and flavorful and the citrus and geisha rolls were also fantastic. The entire staff was kind and attentive, and it was busy but not crowded at dinner time on a Tuesday. Will be coming back next time I'm in town!

*** BEWARE OF THE RICE NAZIS AT THIS PLACE *** I have a couple problems with this place and with all the competitive AYCE Sushi places around the area, I'm very surprised to see how they actually run this place the way they do especially with the way they leave a bad taste in their customer's mouths, figuratively speaking. Many of my complaints have already been mentioned in the previous reviews but even then, I still wanted to give this place a try. Needless to say, I'M NOT COMING BACK. First and foremost, the RICE TO SUSHI ratio is just ABSURD. Some of the past reviewers of this place have already posted pictures of how much rice they put in each piece of sushi. If you're coming to eat sushi, I'm not sure about you guys but I'm here to eat the fish more than the rice. You can easily just get FULL OFF OF THE RICE ALONE here than anything else. The concept is simple for the owner, and we as customers aren't idiots. The more rice you eat the fuller we will be, so that they will spend less fish on serving us. Crazy thing, they even have the audacity to approach a family of 5 people to tell us that we were leaving too much rice over. If anything, we left maybe 2 spoonsful of rice on the plate out of the 15 plates of sushi we ordered. Consequently, my brother started noticed the owner (samurai haircut looking dude, Tony?) and some other middle-aged lady at the register eyeing our table and talking to each other like we committed a crime. And of course, about 5 minutes later, the waiter comes up to us and says, "hey we can't keep making sushi for you guys if you keep leaving over rice, stop leaving over rice". I'm like are you serious?! I've been to MANY AYCE sushi establishments in my lifetime and despite all their rules on not leaving over food and whatever, this is the FIRST TIME I've had a management threaten to REFUSE TO MAKE US ANYMORE SUSHI, when I'm paying for a particular service or product. Poor waiter. He was a good guy and was providing great service. He just happened to be in the middle of our family and the cheap samurai owner who literally wouldn't lose a single penny for throwing away a few spoonsful of rice. I mean, honestly speaking, a pound of rice is less than a dollar. Are you willing to lose customers just to save a few dollars? It's baffling and unbelievable to me. Just in the IE area, there are already great places to eat like Maru, Sushi One Spot, Sake Sake just to name a few. You would think that they would try to stand out from the others and at least have some decent customer service but HELL NO! I'm seriously considering donating them a pound of rice and some salmon because I just feel that bad for the management. If you're looking to eat with the pressure of having a set of eyes over your shoulders on your rice consumption by the rice nazi, then feel free to do so. For me, I'd rather go somewhere else and I really don't see this place lasting in all honesty. Take my review for what it is, and I can't speak for everyone else here but their customer service and their rice obsession is crappy enough for me to never come back. read more

The service isn't the best but the food is decent for AYCE. The two round limit isn't good compared to 3 rounds everywhere else and there is no dessert it seems. With two rounds, you have to order more per round and that isn't good. Not sure if they do it on purpose but when making the first order which was a lot of sushi, the rice ball was bigger than second round when ordering only a few pieces. They also have cajun tuna, but why not cajun salmon or cajun other sushi items. They also don't have uni or oysters for dinner. On a Tuesday night, there was only one sushi chef and the food took a while to come out and there was only a couple of missing items. More of an average AYCE place but not quite 4 stars read more

Sato Sushi is one of our favorite sushi spots in the Inland Empire. The food is always consistent, tasty and reasonable priced. They give you big portions and the price is fair. We ordered the bento box with California roll and teriyaki salmon it was more than enough, I was only able to eat half. The service is impeccable!! At a new place I always order the roll named after the restaurant thinking of it as some sort of signature dish, but I didn't find one here with Kuma in the name, odd. The fish was fresh but the rolls lacked creativity and originality of flavor or composition. The sashimi bowl was a bit odd with a base of imitation crab strings and what appeared to be left over chunks of ahi and some sweet shrimp, which was quite tasty. The menu described it as having a mayonnaise sauce but I think it was straight mayo, but not a lot of it, which was fine. We probably won't be back as we were just driving through, but if we do go back, I'd give them another chance with some of their other menu items with some nigiri or sashimi pieces.

Some of our favorite items to order include the Golden Cali Roll, Alaskan Roll, and Crunch Roll. The Alaskan Roll is notably my favorite of the three. They have mastered this baked salmon roll without making it saturated with mayo (something our family appreciates!). The sauce combo on it is super tasty as well. It's always the first roll to get finished. Definitely would recommend Rolling Rice if you're in the Rancho area and looking for a solid sushi option.
