I think I was way too hasty on that last update, and things have gotten very strange / inconsistent / uncomfortable here - so I guess I'll do one final review. After a rocky re-opening, Saturn re-did practically their entire menu, with some frankly confusing decisions. Gone are the $10-11 New Haven / Tomato pies, replaced by $15-20+ options. Outside of 1-2 options, the fare is fairly typical of most pizza joints in the area now. That said, I'm done with this place and so are the friends and family who I've introduced them to. There's many reasons (inconsistent food orders, closed all the time on random days), but the biggest one is that for whatever reason - the owner decided it was a great idea to use the restaurant to promote right wing (see also: maga) candidates and politics. The bar pie was renamed / added in support of Dave Portnoy (well known for that "flavor" of politic). And the cherry on the sundae - a full blown event for the NJ republican governor candidate, hosted at the restaurant. It was already a rough ride with the consistency, strange open & closed times, and whiplash menu changes. Publicly embracing some of the most bigoted and hateful politics in the country is really bad business, and best kept to yourself. I've lost my appetite. read more

I waited a few days to think about now I feel about Saturn Pizza. The best and worst review I can give is it's like good high-end frozen pizza. Service was excellent, the pizza was made to order and we ate in. When the pizza came out of the oven it was really good. Nice and hot. Nice thin crust and tasty. We went with the Queen Margarita which is cheese, sauce and basil. Ingredients were good. The place appeared clean. The guy behind the counter was very nice. We also ordered fries w cheese and gravy. Did we enjoy it? Yes. Would we drive out of our way for it, probably not. It's worth a try for sure. read more

Had been wanting to check this place out and my wife and I finally ordered a pie for takeout when nearby. We got the Venus pie. Pesto base with mozzarella, goat cheese, artichokes, arugula and balsamic. The pizza was cooked a bit unevenly. One slice was good the next very tough and chewy, hence 3 stars instead of 4. The middle was also not well done as they state all their pies are on the website. Also felt that if it's going to be a pesto base, I want to taste it a bit more, it was lacking as were the artichokes. You can barely spot them and def didn't taste them when eating, the balsamic overpowered most flavors. Overall, we got there right when it was supposed to be ready and it took another 5 mins, which was still only ~20 min but it seemed like it may have been rushed. It needed another 2 mins to cook fully in the center in my opinion. Not sure if we'll stop back again. read more

I want to like this place, I really do. But they make it so hard. After the relaunch it seemed like things were only going up. The pizza improved in quality, they added cool new offerings like ice cream, and the decor had a fun (if cluttered) vibe. Then they started changing the menu near weekly. Half the time I went they were out of hot dogs, supposedly a signature item of the new menu. Prices kept going up, up, up. And they'd be randomly closed when I would show up wanting to order. It became impossible to predict if I could even order anything from them, nevermind what I actually wanted. The final straw was their decision to obnoxiously start promoting political events. You're a restaurant. Stay in your lane. If you'd managed to fix your other major flaws I might have come back, now there's no chance. Good job alienating half your customers for no reason. Next time focus more on your food and your menu. read more

I wanted to try out new food places and this place was close to us so we decided to try this out. I saw that it had good reviews and the photos looked good. I didnt realize the location was in a gas station. They dont serve a single slice its all a pie. We got the Mars Pie thin crust 14" for $17. I ordered pick up through yelp. Mars is basically a meat lovers pizza with pepperoni and sausage. There was only 1 person working. It was empty when we picked up our pie and while waiting 2 more cars came in. Overall, it was a good pizza. Definitely wasnt shy with adding toppings. There was some burnt parts that left a bitter taste afterwards but pizza was super crispy/crunchy. Honestly there is so much good pizza in the area that this place dosent need to exist. They use frozen crust, the place is really dirty and the pizza is SMALL and EXPENSIVE. On top of that it's just bad. Staff seems to know it and take no pride in their work it's sad. You might think that this is just a gas station with cheap pizza, or 7-11 pizza etc, but you'd be wrong!!!!! I must have passed by this place 30+ times, and my BiL who lives nearby tried it and turned me onto this place! 100% must visit. Let me start by telling you that yes, it is kitchy. They realllllllly lean into the planetary side... Pies are named after planets, and everything else is galactic etc. Their suggested pies are pretty good! I did some customizing afterwards.... So they are known for their think crust pies, but you don't want that... Trust me. You want their double crust pies! They take 2 of their crusts and shove a layer of cheese between them! That is really their thing that makes the pies so good. Have I had better pies? Oh yeah! But their gimmic is pretty solid. It is definitely one of the better pies in the neighborhood. Toppings are thick and delicious! Pepperoni is great! So is sausage, and the rest of the toppings on their meat lover. I will say that I was not a fan of their chicken on the BBQ chicken. They take super generic frozen chicken fingers, chop em up and toss them on a pie. Its good, but they can really do waaaaaay better than that! Other than that, this place is very good! I'm a New Yawker who moved to this area 3 years ago. We've tried 23 pizza places searching for good pizza. For Square pies- definitely Brooklyn Square is the best. But Neopolitan pies are bland and boring in NJ. We have driven by Saturn pizza dozens of time and laughed about pizza made at a Conoco Gas station. Today we stopped and we were surprised how clean the shop is, that there were tables & chairs and really helpful people behind counter. We tried 2 slices of Earthling pizza-- one with extra cheese. The slices looked odd because there was no crust, but the pizza was super thin and crunchy, the sauce had great flavor & cheese was plentiful. We were so surprised and thrilled to finally find good neopolitan pizza we will definitely be back to try their other toppings. Don't judge a book by its cover. This place is good! read more

I'm driving by route 70 in brick NJ and have to get some gas. Behind me in the convenience store is a sign that says, "pizza that's out of this world" the name is Saturn Pizza, and yes it's located inside a gas station convenience store. It's a one man shop and each pie is after a planet. They have the a plethora of different options but each pie is cooked well done. I recommend eating in at one of the two tables or getting it to go and eating it right away in your car. The Earthling pie is essentially a crispy tomato pie. A good amount of mozzarella topped with an awesome tomato sauce that has a certain tang to it. It's packed with a bunch of herb flavors, and definitely a hint of crushed red pepper. The kicker is that it's only 11$ Don't let the gas station fool or detour you from trying this place. Definitely am going to back and try another pie as this was really good, well done pie. read more

I had the Pluto pie (bbq chicken) and the queen margarita. Although this is in a gas station parking lot don't be fooled - their crust is perfection, and the sauce is tangy and definitely tastes homemade. One pie is a little bigger than a personal pizza. Pizza from a pizza joint attached to a gas station? Don't walk, RUN, RUN, RUN to Saturn Pizza, the best pizza I have had since Freddie's Pizza in Long Branch went out of business several years ago. We ordered two pies today. One was the clam pie, and it was perfectly delicious. Sweet from the clam, and perfectly balanced with the cheese and the extra thin crust. I had never had a clam pie before, and now I wonder why I ever waited for so long. The second pie was the meat pie with our choice of added artichokes, mushrooms and peppers. Luscious. Perfect. The extra thin crust is cooked to well done, not burnt, so all the toppings stay on top but you are not left with mouthfuls of thick pizza dough. This is some seriously good pizza. If you love a thin, thin crust, lots of toppings, whole pieces of veggies and meats so you actually can recognize them, you will love this pizza!!! Very affordable with two drinks it was $20.00 they offer regular toppings but also have a bunch of suggested pies named after the planets. Staff was very nice and friendly. You NEED to go here! The pizza is unique and not your traditional "New York style" pizza. I got the double crust Mercury Pie which was heavier but definitely crispy. I also got the super thin crust Queen Margarita pie and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it! The crust is thin, but not cracker-like which I appreciated; it still had some bite to it. Not only was the pizza great, but the owner and staff couldn't have been nicer as well!
