I find it hard to walk by this food truck during lunch, and not stop there to patronize them. For $6, you get a large container of either noodles or rice, with your choice of protein - my favorite so far is the curry chicken - and a little side salad. You can't beat that value in the Financial District. Good luck getting a piece of bread and a drink at any of the chains in the area. 5 stars is for the value, the friendly, quick service, and the overall food experience. I could give 4, but the value is what tips the scales for me. The first time I went, I had high expectations (set by the best food truck ever, Mama Kim's in Providence), and the flavor let me down a tad. I forget if I had the Korean BBQ rice bowl or the bulgogi beef...it just didn't knock my socks off. But I've been about 5 times since, and enjoyed the meals more since that first visit. I received a refund & 50% off my next order through Peach; which works for me because i'll be broke next week. Wow. For a food truck this place moves like a machine. Fast Cheap. Good eats. Orders were taken swiftly and efficiently, without any wasted chit-chat. Processing was practically as fast as you could pay for it. Stunned. I had a build your own bowl $5: Organic Greens with Korean Chicken BBQ + extra chicken ($1) and the quality was excellent! They accept credit cards and will email or message the receipt to you. Greens were tender and fresh. There was also sauteed zucchini and carrot as part of the chicken. The chicken itself was almost perfect--plenty, most of it very juicy (I think thighs) and well seasoned. No this was not a massive salad, but I'm used to paying over $10 for essentially the same thing with a few more greens. Organic greens plus lots of great tasting Korean BBQ chicken for $6. Really? The Momogoose puts on a clinic on operating a food truck. They're out there killing it on a daily basis. Where most trucks seem to focus on putting together small special bits to your meal the staff at Momogoose has all the options prepped to the nth degree. By the time they're taking the next order they're handing you your streaming bowl of ramen or rice bowl. It's good to note that the ramen isn't exactly authentic, but it's still amazingly good. Also the cover to the bowl is microwave safe though I'm not sure about the bowl itself. read more

Getting lunch in the City of Boston for under 10$ is possible, but you have to be careful. Getting it for 5$ is unheard of without getting some norovirus to go along with it. You can get a real, actual lunch from the goose for 5$. A tasty one too. I have tried the sister truck in Kendall many times, and the Dewey Sq. version is a little faster, doesn't sell out of the BBQ Chicken, and still has the spectacular chili sauce. Get pho, soup, or something broth based for maximum goosing. The others are passable, but not up to the level of the soups. read more

Is it just me, or are food trucks getting so popular that they have been neglecting the quality of food that comes out the truck. Food trucks use to be a place to get great food, for a great cost, and an alternative to the mundane food court, sub shops or convenience store cold section. With that said, a food court plate would've out-shined what I got from this truck. I ordered the bulgogi beef (however its spelled) , white rice and a crunchy roll. Again, as I left on other Asian food truck pages, I could've made this better, and I'm black. The beef tasted old like they heated up what they served yesterday, it was soggy and didn't have any flavor. It disintegrated in my mouth because it was so mushy. The crunchy roll.... well really $2 for cold crunchy cabbage? I was just highly disappointed all around. I went as soon as the truck opened, so there is no excuse why my food should taste old or cold. The woman taking orders can learn a thing or two about customer service. As the bright red cart boasts, it was recently awarded the Best Food Truck of 2011, by the Boston Phoenix. It has recently made its appearance in Dewey Square, in the Financial District, and I happened upon it today. It is oppressively hot here today, and so the wonderful folks at Momogoose were handing out free cups of ice water to all their patrons. How nice is that? And by nice, I mean every single employee at that cart was helpful, friendly and engaging! As I waited in line, and realized I wanted a little bit of everything on the menu, a lovely woman came over to offer me water and ask if I had any questions! I asked what her favorite was...and she recommended the #1 (which is a full dish of noodles, veggies, slaw and chicken, cooked in a lemongrass sauce) as well as today's special. When I got up to the counter, the special was sold out, but the #1 was available, so I went with that. I will definitely try and get there earlier than 1:15pm next time...so that more choices are available to me. Each dish on their menu is $5 and healthy at that. From their website I learned that they are the country's first food truck enterprise, founded in 1989 by MIT alums. They specialize in Southeast Asian gourmet cuisine. The short amount of time it took for me to get my order was shocking - by the time I'd handed over my $5 bill, it was ready! I carried it back to my office and dug in! This food is delicious! The chicken was tender and flavorful, the noodles were cooked to perfection, the veggies were nicely steamed (not soggy) and the touch of slaw with slices of mango in it was totally refreshing. Even though it's over 100 degrees outside, I found this hot meal to be comforting and filling! It was so satisfying! I would have liked to have gotten the crispy roll to go along with my meal (an extra $1.50), but they were out of that as well. So, for all you folks that are looking for a satisfying, filling, affordable and healthy lunch, take a trip down to Dewey Square and get in line at Momogoose! When I first moved to Boston years ago my coworker said he never brought food from home because lunch was only $5 at all of these food trucks around Boston. While I would disagree with his assessment I would agree that Momogoose is one of the few places that fit the bill (though the prices have gone up $1 since). Momogoose is a South East Asian food truck that is located around Boston. I have only been to the food truck located in the Financial District. They offer ramen, pho, rice bowls, noodle dishes, and salads. The rice/noodle dishes come with choice of rice or noodles (they have several options), topped with your choice of protein (also many options), and a little side of greens with a vinaigrette dressing for $6. They always ask if you want to make it a combo for $2 more that includes a drink and a choice of ravioli or spring roll. The same two friendly individuals have been working at the Financial District Momogoose for as long as I can remember and they are efficient. You order your food, pay, and the other employee already has your food ready. They use Square so they take all credit cards without a spending requirement which is also nice. I really like Momogoose for what it is, a food truck. You can't compare Momogoose to the handful of Asians sit-downs around the corner or Chinatown a half mile away. Would I go back to Momogoose? Definitely. I eat there a few times a month mainly because its essentially downstairs from where I work, quick, cheap, and relatively healthy. read more

Great food truck for those looking for a healthy and affordable lunch. For $5 I get a huge helping of BBQ tofu, brown rice, and salad in an area where it's difficult to find all three of those at the same joint. Half of this portion usually fills me up for a day so I can get TWO lunches for $5. This place usually has a super long line, especially around 12/12:30, so beware. But going after that may mean that they run out of what you want. I once went around 2 and there was no more tofu left. Also, make sure to check your food before you leave since they've gotten my order wrong multiple times. Regardless, I still recommend this place! read more

I saw this truck, but had no idea what they served, only that they had won the foodtruck challenge. I ended up walking by with a Vietnamese coworker today and she was thrilled to discover that Momogoose is actually Vietnamese food! She started conversing with one of the staff members who was telling people in line what the specials were. We both ended up getting Nan Goung (sp) mine with chicken, hers with pork. The pork was insanely good. This place has pho and all kinds of yummy food so I will definitely be back often. Best part of Momogoose? Lunch is $5. Can't beat that with a stick. read more

Lemongrass chicken with brown rice and a crispy roll =$7. Chicken had the traditional Vietnamese lemongrass marinade which I love. Chicken is thigh meat for those that care, was tender and full of lemongrass flavor flavorful, not gamey or fatty don't worry. Bowls seem to come with assorted veggies like lettuce, carrots, and broccoli and whole thing is topped with chopped peanuts. Roll was good as well, hot n crispy. Overall I like this food truck. They give you really good portions for your food and it's relatively healthy. I only get one thing from here though... I get the grilled lemongrass chicken with brown rice. For me it's their best item. Every thing else I've had is kind of lack luster to me. Each dish comes a real nice portion of meat, brown rice or noodles and a little medley of greens with some sort of vinaigrette. The grilled chicken is tasty and the portion they give you for 6 dollars is actually quite big compared to other food trucks. I've also had the wonton chicken ramen and tried their pho. Won ton chicken ramen isn't really tradition ramen, just some instant egg noodles that they make with what taste like instant won tons. They usually mix in some veggies like broccoli and carrots. It's alright. I would get it if it's super cold and I'm in the soupy mood. Their Beef Pho is atrocious to me. I'm Viet so I'm a tad bias when it comes to this and I probably should have known better to get Pho from a food truck. Overall an ok food truck. As I said I only get the grilled lemongrass chicken cause everything else is meh to me. It is a healthy alternative if you're trying to get fast food and food does come out relatively fast. This is probably my favorite food truck in Boston to date (above BBQ Smith and Clover). The food out of a truck is tough to beat out of a restaurant, but food trucks are just plain better from the more experienced establishments out of Cali and NYC. In DC and Boston over the last 3 years, a lot of the newbies need to step it up. I guess that's one thing why I think Ethnic foods are way more successful in translation to food trucks. There isn't as much as an emphasis on presentation, prices are already lower and the customer base is more flexible than a traditional dining location. I'm already thinking of the great taco, halel, and hot dogs out there so for an Asian "food bowl" or sandwich truck like Momogoose it's certainly and uphill battle, although the greats in their category aren't yet established, with the exception of the Korean taco trucks. The line was pretty sizable when a few of my co-workers and I came here on a beautiful Friday afternoon for lunch. The line moved quickly and they posted a line out of the line which helped us decide as we got closer. I ordered the bbq chicken with brown rice and a salad. The dark chicken meat was key in keeping the meat juicy and the sauce blended with the brown rice gave brown rice some points in my book (wheat pasta needs to catch up here). Overall a pretty good job, but in the future I'd like to see mo mo goose on the menu or just some hanging bbq meats. read more

I would give Momo (as I call it) a three and a half if I could. I used to go there every week and order curry of the day with brown rice and tofu and some salad. For $5 this lasted me two meals-- a financial district miracle! (Now, the tofu option is $6, along with everything else at Momo. Since, say, Al's costs $6, it's no longer such a novelty.) However. After going there frequently, I had to admit that I was often more enthralled with the amount of food than the taste. Sometimes it tastes sort of...chemically? I don't know, there's just an odd, off-putting flavor in my food once in a while, though I don't think this food is very processed at all. As I said, I almost always have curry of the day, so can't speak much to the others. Still, for a well rounded meal at a great price, go to Momo. This truck just started coming to my work and I am already impressed. Their Tofu Pho is ridiculously flavorful and the amount you get for a mere $6 is enough to satisfy the fattest of fatties without actually feeling like a fatty! I'm not sure why it's taken me this long to write a review on my beloved Momogoose. I go to the one right next to howl at the moon/1 international place about twice a week. I guess you could say I'm slightly addicted to this place. You get a decent sized, relatively healthy, and fast lunch for only $6 (or make it a "meal" and get a ravioli and drink for $8)? Need I say more? No more paying $10 for a salad downtown! Huzzah! I'm a vegetarian and I appreciate their very veggie-friendly menu. They clearly mark what is vegan and gluten free (if that's of concern to you). My go-to meal is the peanut tofu over either brown rice or egg noodles. Add some sriracha on top and ooooohhh boy one tasty meal for you! If it's cold out (or maybe I'm hungover) then their pho is also pretty tasty. No, it's not chinatown-level pho, but it's not bad and hits the spot! They also have a daily curry special which is usually really good. Their red curry and pineapple curry are both SOOOOO good and are my favorites. Also just had their yellow curry and it was awesome. Curious about the curry? Just ask to try it and they'll gladly give you a little taste. It's fast, it's hot, and it's cheap. No, we're not talking about hookers here, we're talking about your lunch at Momogoose. I keep giving this truck a chance and I've decided its mediocre at best. I've had the beef ramen, Bbq chicken, Beef Bulgogi, Curries in different ways: over rice, ramen and the sandwich. Every time I have eaten I wish I ate somewhere else. Ramen noodles were limp, overcooked. The rice plates make me feel like I ate an entire salt lick. The plates are only $6, so you really get what you pay for. The people that work the trucks are nice and the portions are good, but I'm not a fan. read more

Disappointed by this truck given that I usually love the Kendall Square truck. It was $6.50 for a tofu ramen, usually $5 at the Kendall Square truck. Quality was comparable, although I asked for the ramen not pho and they gave me rice noodles instead of egg noodles. Momogoose in Dewey Square is competing with the "Big Guns." Bon Me's banh mi (ha!) is way better so I'm sure they lose out to Bon Me's Brick & Mortar store. If they want to keep competing, they either have to drop prices or improve quality. Though Momogoose does have decent sized portions for a filling lunch, I didn't like this food truck too much. I've tried their Thai peanut chicken with rice and bulgogi with rice noodles before. Their bowls come with salad on the side with bean sprouts and pickled carrots but the lettuce can be somewhat wilted and bitter. As for the food, I didn't think much of their Thai peanut chicken that I just thought their food was okay when I first tried it. Their bulgogi, which I've eaten this past week, reminded me more of Chinese braised beef and was a bit too salty. Unlike all other food trucks I've tried in Boston, Momogoose is the only one that charges a surcharge when using credit card. I noticed an extra $0.56 charge added on my card for the $8 lunch special. It is a small fee, but I don't like how you're not even aware that it's going to be there. read more

Oh hayyyy, Momogoose. When your name comes up in my office, there is a collective sigh and then we make one of our employees go get probably too much ramen for one person to carry. I've only tried the beef and chicken ramen, which is mostly because I'm obsessed with the beef ramen and branched out once to try the chicken just because. This is essentially the most perfect lunch: tender meat, nearly perfectly seasoned broth (I do like to add a ton of chili paste), a good amount of veg (broccoli (yessss), potatoes, and bean sprouts), with noodles that are almost always al dente (yes, sometimes they feel a bit overcooked, but always delicious). I feel like the price for the amount of food/quality of said food is spot on. I will happily fork over the $7 or so that this is to get a lunch that feels not too bad for me, is soul-satisfying, and keeps me full until dinner. read more

I'm usually not a fan of "Asian-American" establishments that try to tackle Japanese, Viet, Chinese, and Korean food all in one go, but if you look past that, Momogoose is a very solid option if you are looking for a quickie lunch. I've only gotten the bulgogi bowl with brown rice (I can't vouch for the pho or ramen bowl), and I love it. The bulgogi, while not entirely authentic, is savory and plentiful and comes on a bed of carrot, bean sprouts, and rice. Gotta say was pleased to have hit up Momogoose for my first try. For $6 (including tax) - I got myself a korean chicken salad and it tasted AWESOME. I don't get excited over salad often but the asian flavored chicken (though it says Korean - not really looking like the picture on the truck or how I expected to taste) was nicely seasoned with small chunks of potatoes layed on top of a mesclun green mixture (mesclun green, bean sprouts, carrots and broccoli) was an suprising combo. Add some sweet chili sauce and bam, it's deliciousness in your mouth. For $6, I think this is a pretty great deal! Spicy pork baguette is awesome - even though they seem to suggest it's korean spicy pork, it's really just a vietnamese grilled pork banh mi with spicy mayo, and lettuce/peppers (which I remove). From the food to the service, this food truck rocks. The staff is efficient, friendly and helpful. In fact, the staff is so sugary sweet, it overflows into their food. My one negative about this place: why is everything so sweet? I know certain items are suppose to be, but Penang Curry? I don't think so. Regardless, this place is still pretty awesome for a quick and inexpensive lunch. You order, pay, take two steps to the side, and your food is ready (all within 3 mins!). The menu is limited but varied enough to cover some of the most popular Asian cuisines - Vietnamese, Thai, Indian and even Chinese. Nothing exotic here for those experienced in such cuisines. I love the customizability of some of the menu items. Pick your protein, carb and veggie to create a bowl. Not a new concept but it is a smart one for those of us tired of sandwiches and salads. Speaking of sandwiches, they serve a version of bahn mi, which a co-worker ordered. The verdict: good but not as good as those from Chinatown. A delicious food truck for very affordable and convenient Asian-ish food. It's not the authentic fare you'll find in some of the Chinatown restaurants but rather a more 'Asian-inspired' food truck (as are many of the Asian food trucks in Boston). For the sandwich/noodle/rice dishes, your order consists of a meat and carb of your choice. All three come with a hefty serving of fresh vegetables, be it stuffed into the sandwich or as a side. Must gets: [1] Barbecue chicken sandwich. They've changed their baguettes over the past few months, and it's been for the better! That's not to say their old baguettes were unsatisfactory, but these new ones are especially bouncy, with the right amount of chew, and soak up the meat sauces so you can't help but eat the whole thing. For six dollars, this is amazing. This ties with the Bon Me Barbecue pork sandwich for my favorite food truck sandwich in Boston. [2] Wonton noodle. I have a weakness for dumplings/wontons/potstickers/meat wrapped in dough. Theirs is quite good, with a nice number of wontons with lots of noodle. The noodle is good, but won't give the satisfying chew that a vermicelli in a good sit-down restaurant would. read more

The food comes out really quickly, and I eat here around or twice a week. My favorite is the lemongrass grilled pork on rice noodles (#2) and I always make sure to take lots of hot sauce back to my desk. The spring rolls are always a great $1 addition to my meal, and I've heard good things about the soups. They usually are cash-only, but sometimes take credit cards (not sure the reasoning behind this). They are only around Dewey Sq M-W-F but should be available more often! When you've finally nestled yourself in Dewey Square, in the middle of a n'oreaster, I travelled to find you. After all the pomp and circumstance from the media, stroking your feathers a bit, I was kind of glum after first bite. The suon nuong, aka Vietnamese lemongrass grilled pork chop with vermicelli and mixed greens, in nuoc mum ($6) touted as one of the bestsellers, left me a bit disheartened. Did I visit on a bad day? Am I the only one missing your flavorful awesomeness? Maybe first impressions aren't what they're expected to be. I hope we impress each other on our second meeting. read more

First of all Yelp has this location incorrect. Momogoose is no longer at Dewey Square. They can be found further in the Financial District (see their website for daily locations) which is a plus for me since Dewey Square was a 15min walk from work for me anyway. I really like the menu Momogoose has going for it. Korean beef, pork, chicken, tofu and choice of rice, noodles or bread is great. Before I even went here I checked out what they were serving online and I've tried a couple dishes like the bulgogi beef, my favorite or the bbq chicken, also very nice. I can tell they are pretty popular no matter where in the city the truck goes. You can also tell how popular they are by how quickly they run out of some things. The first time I found the truck they were pretty much out of everything except for bbq and curry and it was barely 1:30p when I arrived. Lesson learned, can't have Momo on a late lunch. Though I've made Momogoose my $6 Monday lunch they are often out of one or two things by 1pm, (I took a 12:45 lunch today and they were promptly out of teriyaki before 1pm). This is the only place I've ever went out of my way to catch an early lunch. The food is that good and worth it. Actually it's my second favorite truck after Clover. You will have to brave a line for 5-7 minutes but once you order you do get your food pretty fast. I'd be a fan if only they'd step up their supply. Lunch hours is normally between 12 and 2pm. If you're running out of food by 1pm and you're in a spot until 3pm you need to increase the supply to handle the demand which I'm sure they've gotten comments on before. Even better, CROSS OFF the items you run out of so people don't spend 5mins waiting on line for something sold out. So if you go here be prepared to have a second or third choice even because Momo isn't guaranteed to have what you want when you get there but still a great value for the money. read more

I give this place 3 stars- an in between for their 2 star food and 4 star service. Food here is very lightly flavored. Portions are considerable for the $6 value, but it's really not that impressive.
