Chicken & Rice Guys - 280 Washington St, Boston, MA 02108 If you're looking for a filling, affordable, and convenient meal in downtown Boston, Chicken & Rice Guys is a solid go-to spot. Their menu keeps it simple yet satisfying, offering halal chicken , gyro , and tofu , all served over rice or salad with your choice of sauce. Their chicken bowl ($12.23) was well-seasoned and juicy. The gyro ($10.70) was flavorful, tender, and had that classic beef-lamb blend that pairs perfectly with their creamy garlic sauce (my favorite!). Be warned: the hot sauce packs serious heat, so use it sparingly unless you love a fiery kick. Also, if you are vegetarian they offer tofu. One of the highlights is their variety of sauces--from creamy garlic to white sauce and hot sauce, they let you customize your bowl exactly how you like it. And don't skip the baklava , which adds a sweet and nutty finish to your meal. This is truly a takeout-focused spot--the food is great, the prices are reasonable, and the service is quick . However, ambiance-wise, it's pretty minimal (2/10) , so it's not a place to linger. But for affordability (9/10) , and portion size, it's a full meal that won't leave you hungry. Food-wise, I'd rate it a 7/10 --tasty, reliable, and hits the spot when you need something quick and satisfying!

For $9 you can get this hefty and fulfilling small combo. Definitely worth it for lunch.

My list of gotos is expanding! Found the perfect spot..(in-between subway spots..lol) and within walking distance to my current location. Anytime I can get an abundant Lamb and Chicken combo, it's a win-win. I've come here twice consecutively and have been blown away by the customer service, attention to detail, and their tasty offerings of chicken and lamb with cukes and tomatoes, which is my favorite. Add the mint/cilantro/jalapeño, some hot sauce, and the white sauce, and I'm extremely content. Don't forget the lemonade. I urge everyone to indulge no less than twice a week for the good food, ambiance, and excellent customer service.

We stopped by Chicken and Rice Guys last night and it was great! We had just finished a pretty intense all day tour of the city and we were absolutely starving. We had seen Chicken and Rice guys on some "Top Cheap Eats" list and it was close by, so we decided to check it out. While it's true that the food at Chicken and Rice Guys is not prepared fresh to order (the chicken and rice were definitely reheated), the flavors they delivered were undeniably excellent. I opted for the Halal chicken with a base of rice and salad, along with a side of hummus and the combination was stellar. And what truly elevated the meal were the sauces. The spicy sauce had a nice level of kick, the creamy garlic was rich and flavorful and the cilantro mint sauce added a refreshing herbaceous note. The interplay between all the flavors and sauces was quite enjoyable. One aspect that shouldn't be overlooked is the incredible value Chicken and Rice Guys offers. Considering the generous portions and the quality of the food, the fact that my gigantic meal only cost me $10 and change felt like a steal. In a city where dining out can often leave a big dent in your wallet, finding such an affordable gem was a pleasant surprise. Five of us dropped $70 or so for 5 meals and baklavas. Really good! Overall, Chicken and Rice Guys proved to be a great spot. If you're in search of a budget friendly yet tasty dining experience in downtown Boston, I wholeheartedly recommend giving Chicken and Rice Guys a try. Five stars.

We stopped in for a quick bite while walking on the Freedom Trail vacationing in downtown Boston. The idea was to get a quick bite so we could move on and eat a couple hours later and this was the perfect spot for that. They offer large and small portions which was great. The food was very tasty and just the right amount. The price isn't bad as well, it's about $14 for the small portion which filled me up. I ordered the small Chicken and Rice Plate. We literally got our food within a few minutes from ordering. Nice to get in & out quickly. Seating inside was adequate. Because this is located in the heart of downtown Boston, there is no parking so you get here on foot. Good place to check out when in the area.

My boss recommended Chicken & Rice since the truck was a staple in the courtyard that was located downstairs of our building in the Financial District. I'm a huge chicken lover so I will never turn down a good chicken and rice bowl. Unfortunately, they ran out of lettuce during the lunch rush but the plate was still pretty satisfying/cheap. I ordered the small which was actually the perfect amount for me. Loved the garlic and mint cilantro sauces! I would definitely go to the brick and mortar next time I'm in town and get a combo plate to try the other meats.

Don't be deterred if the line looks long these guys are fast!! It's a classic and a favorite for as long as I can remember for a reason!! Definitely get the garlic sauce and the extra spicy hot sauce. I hadn't added on crispy onions before but I'm glad I did!! So good!!

My friends and I had plans to go out at a nearby club so we wanted to get a quick bite before all the booze. We came here at 7:15 pm just before they closed their doors at 8 pm. Ordering was easily accomplished at their kiosk making it great for a grab-n-go style. Drink options are either soda or water. Since I wasn't too hungry, my friend and I shared their regular combo which consisted of the beef, lamb, and chicken over a bed of rice and lettuce with 3 triangles of soft and warm pita plus a side of hummus. My favorite aspect was the variety of sauces you can choose without any limitations. I tried their Extra Creamy Garlic Sauce Cup and herb sauce which accentuated the dish nicely. Proteins were seasoned and cooked great. Overall, good experience and would like to try more of what they have to offer. Staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely an easy place to pass time or take to go.

Did not honor my order of double meat over salad. I ordered this through sharebite, and received single meat over rice. There was even a sticker on my container that said double meat over salad. No love! Pro tip: go easy on the spicy sauce. It is SPICY.

If you're looking for a quick bite to eat this is the place to go. Great value and portion for a "low" price for the area. They have a good amount of seating and are all self service for the sauces. They are fairly heavy handed with the rice and meats. The workers there are very friendly and I haven't had a negative experience here. Their garlic sauce isn't as great as the Halal Guys, but I would highly recommend the cilantro green sauce. Just note that they really cater to office worker hours and close at 8 pm.

Came here famished after a long plane ride and this place really hit the spot. If you are craving some halal food, this is the place to go when you're in the Boston Proper area. Beware I have passed by this place during lunch time and it is PACKED with a line that goes out the door. We came here at like 3pm so it was pretty empty. I ordered a small combo meal with half salad, half rice and it came with gyro, chicken, and pita bread. I love that they have a bunch of sauces on the side that you can pick and choose from and add however much or little you want. There was a cilantro mint sauce, BBQ, creamy garlic, mild, and hot sauce. Just a heads up the hot sauce is actually really spicy. If you would like more flavor and less burn, go with the mild. The other sauces were all very delicious. Service was great, food was delicious, highly recommend!

The best lunch around government center in my opinion. The regular chicken and rice plate is a really hearty size, not too heavy, cheap and soooo tasty. I always use the garlic white sauce and medium hot sauce. The white sauce is absolutely incredible. It's rich and garlicky but not overwhelming. Mixed with the hot sauce it's like a perfect creamy spicy bite. The lettuce makes it feel healthy too! At least to me... I have gotten the lamb/beef too, it's very good and sometimes I get the combo, but it's a little heavier. It's also like a shaved ground mix, unlike the big chunks of chicken you usually get. The service is incredibly fast too! I get chicken and rice every Tuesday for lunch and for $11 I don't see that changing any time soon.

I remember when I first heard about this event. My initial thought was "oh look another way NYC and…read moreBoston can compete". Actually, I thought it was just another event New York City could dominate Boston at. But that's just the New Yorker in me. I kid, I kid. I've got nothing but love for Boston's food trucks. I was mostly interested in what trucks New York was going to come with as lets be honest the only food trucks I ever saw in NYC were the halal and hotdog trucks on the streets. And let's just say I was taught never to trust street meat. Good thing the website is good at listing the trucks and their websites so you can scope out the competition beforehand. Surprised to see almost all of them had websites. The first time this event was held in Dewey Square. Contained completely on the farmer's market island. My god it was a mess of lines and the wait for some of the trucks was horrendous. People had to plan strategically in their groups in order to hit as many of the trucks they wanted to try. Food truck competitions are serious business and apparently you call out a competition between NY and Boston you're going to pull a crowd to show some love for their hometown. It's understandable... even if the longest lines were from two NY trucks. The second time around the planners did a lot better location wise. They spread the trucks out along the less trafficked Greenway. Thank god they learned from last year. Also line control was handled a lot better. No funky zigzag across 4 different truck areas here. And there was also plenty of grass or curb to sit and eat. Now for the food. This competition has a habit of bringing an array of different cuisines. I had a plan to visit two trucks this time. Morrocan truck Comme Ci Comme Ca and Indian Chinese hybrid Momos & Buns. Most of the NY trucks had a limited 'Throwdown' menu. While I did pick up the kofka couscous from Comme Ci I would have really liked to try a few of their appetizers that I noticed on their website. The couscous was delicious and I think this was the first time I ever really tried Moroccan cuisine so I don't have anything to compare it to. But I'll definitely hunt down the truck when next I'm in NY. Momos I never got to. There was quite the line and I was not that patient. But while I was walking the area I stumbled upon the Cupcake Crew and tried their maple bacon cupcake. Wow, that was incredible. Although I think bacon makes most things taste better. In all it was a pleasant day with delicious food a relaxed atmosphere and I can't wait until next year's.

Yelp pointed me to this small (nothing fancy) Mexican spot, and on a rainy Sunday evening it felt like exactly the right choice. The "tucked -in" restaurant was quiet and welcoming. I ordered the vegetarian enchiladas, and they absolutely hit the spot. The flavors were fresh, vibrant, and well-balanced, making for a hearty and satisfying meal. My only criticism--and it's a significant one for me--is the use of aluminum serving containers. I realize some restaurants still use them, but I personally don't think food should be served in direct contact with aluminum in 2026 when so many other options are available. It was a noticeable disappointment and detracted a bit from an otherwise yummy experience.

I don't give the 5 stars often, but when I do, I mean…read moreevery red square and white star of it. kickin' it off with the queer-o-meter. yeah, uh.. ten! The staff is so nice and it's Boston, low key all around. I'd like to officially put my bid in for the seasonal Korean "Good for the Seoul" BBQ sandwich to find a home on the permanent menu. It just ended in July and I am heartbroken. My taste buds are piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissed to say the least. It was the sandwich that dreams are made of: soft (yet firm) seeded roll, thin fresh cooked chicken cutlets, cabbage slaw, pickled carrots, gochujang BBQ sauce and sriracha mayo. I stood in 85 humid sunny Boston heat for 20-25 min for it. Yes, it's that good. It's heaven on a bun! I've gotten the Drunken Parm, the Hogan, and the Caprese as well. All solid and delicious. I've never gotten one I didn't like. They are pleasant and open to customizing them as well. i.e. no lettuce, extra onion, BBQ on the side. I'm also not sure how, but Thomas the cashier remembers my name every time. That's SO impressive. I mean, I know I don't blend like most, but still, my name among all those people all week long at all the locations? I feel honoured to say the least. Seriously. I didn't get a picture of the BBQ sandwich because honestly, I had devoured it before realizing I should have. whoops. I did get a pic of the Hogan and will post that soon. The good: All of it. and I mean ALL OF IT. You can opt to get chicken, eggplant or one cutlet of each if you're feeling swanky. The location - this is good and bad. Good right by my building and bad that it moves down to Dewey Sq other days. BOO! The bad: The line. They open at 11:30am at Rowes Wharf and there is a line that starts to form at 11:15. I got there today at 11:20 and there were 8 people ahead of me. I might bring a lounge chair with me one of these days. The cost. I personally don't feel it's outrageous. It's a food truck in Boston on the Wharf and it's phenomenal. However, that said I think it's at the cap of what I would spend. I feel it's worth it for what you get. it's $15 for 1/2 and $20 for full sandwich. Pro Tip: psssst, get the full and take 1/2 home. Or eat it if you can't control yourself. I won't berate you for that. I don't consider it bad, but some do.. they cap you at 4 sandwiches per order. If you want more, get catering. And invite me over. Cheers!
