I had a calzone and salad waiting for me at home 2 weeks ago from my roommate, and it was excellent. I'm not sure what happened with my newest visit. First off, I was able to order online from their website. I had tried a couple times to order from the website, and it wasn't working, so I was pretty happy this time worked. I ordered the fold plus extra mozzarella, sauce, and a small strawberry fields salad. This is my normal order from this company over several locations and years. When I arrived to pick up my carryout order, I was impressed by the openness and cleanliness of the restaurant. However, the employee was not friendly. Like, not even a little bit. Asked for my name and handed me my food, no smiles, no thank you, nothing. I wasn't too concerned, it happens, and you can be as rude as you want to me as long as my food is correct. Sadly, it wasn't. So, the salad was great as always. The calzone, my poor calzone, was like they only put mozzarella. It had a very sad dollop of ricotta in one tip, and the mozzarella, which mind you I paid extra for extra, was literally a fraction of the amount it should be. My calzone was basically flat. Also, barely any parmesan on top, no garlic oil, just not at all what I was expecting. I was super bummed and didn't have the time to go back. Will I try this location again...that's a tough question. Splitting the two visits, one being fantastic and the other being not good, that's a three star rating. I guess maybe I'll try one more time, eventually. It's just sad when you know a product very well, look forward to it all day, just for it to not be anything what you expected. read more

My daughter took me out to dinner as I had a rough day at work. She is an amazing daughter. :) I had calzones before but have not had a good one in STL, only out of state. It had been years since I experienced a good calzone. So I was not expecting much. Well... the calzone was perfection. Delicious!! Very flavorful and I like food a little spicy so was very excited to learn I was able to customize. I ordered: Meat me in Saint Louie Sub garlic oil for chili oil, added jalapeños and Switch classic red for spicy red sauce. The best dinner I experienced ALL year and it woke up my palette that had been exhausted with boring restaurants. We ordered to go and the restaurant was very clean. The young lady that took our order was very kind and offered suggestions after asking what I liked. I went on Friday and went back the following Wednesday it was so tasty. You will thank me later. Perfect 10! The only thing was it was not a trash bin anywhere that patrons could use inside or outside of the restaurant. read more

Usually when I eat here, I get the Roasty Toasty.. for lunch, I tried the Spinach Artichoke Bite Side and felt myself salivating while eating! They are a lovely edition and so delightfully flavored. They're savory and smooth in texture. Imagine a cheese ball, covered in crunchy goodness, but not stringy or chewy. Whatever they mix together to create the best consistency that doesn't make me gag (cause mozzarella sticks will do that) is a very big win! read more

This is the first time eating here. My husband got the fatty B and I got the buffalo chicken with bacon and blue cheese. Both tasted good. Mine came with a garlic sauce which was very garlicky and im a huge garlic fan. It was my first meal of the day. It was very filling so I only ate about 1/4 with lots of sauce. About 90 mins after I started to feel nauseous. For the next 12 hours I had horrible food poisoning problems. Still not back to normal 24 hours after and dehydrated. My husband is fine. read more

Most restaurants that focus on a main menu item tend to do it quite well, and Sauce on the Side is one of them. I ordered their Cock-A-Doodle Noodle calzone via online with curbside pick up. It was easy to navigate ordering online. The curbside pick up was efficient and appreciated. They share a decent-sized parking lot with Qdoba and Hi-Pointe. Plenty of disabled spots and accessible entrance. This is one of their newest locations and it was bright, clean and fresh. Staff was super friendly. My calzone was delivered on time, it was hot and tasted quite good. They do have vegan options and you can create your own. They offer monthly special calzones, too. read more

We have been to several sauce on the side locations around the St. Louis area. All are good, but the Cottleville location is just outstanding. My wife and I visited tonight for supper, and really enjoyed ourselves. Our favorite is the smokehouse salad, which we split, and we usually get the magic carpet ride calzone with marinara sauce. Both were delicious. Service tonight was simply wonderful, as staff members circulated the dining area, they frequently checked in on each table, making sure everything was OK and if there was anything else we needed. So friendly and professional. We will be back. read more

I came here to grab dinner and was pleasantly surprised. They have a decent parking lot available with handicap parking too. The cashier was nice and helpful. I came around 6pm right before their dinner rush. My food was ready in about 22 minutes. The skinny calzone with vegan pepperoni was really good. The optional add ons definitely kick it up a notch. For our two calzones they were $33, $17 were mine due to add ons. I would definitely eat here again, recommended. read more

Picked up the February special, It's Always Sunny, their version of the Philly. I was a little surprised it didn't come "wit cheese", but the sauce was delicious, as always. And don't worry, there was plenty of cheese inside. I recommend their salads as well. The staff at this location is really friendly. They had good tunes playing while I waited for my 'zone. read more

Yum!! Came here for their grand opening today and was surprised how not busy it was. St Charles, where are you? Cause you're missing out!! The staff was extremely helpful and attentive asking if we needed any help or had any questions. We ordered the Pancho Villa and their monthly special with salami and pepperoni- YUM! Both were delicious, piping hot and super flavorful. I'm excited to add this place to our rotation. read more

Tonight was probably our fourth time visiting this location and it's been a consistently good experience. I need to quit going to restaurants when I'm so hungry, as I forget to take food photos until we're halfway into our meals! I wanted something lighter than a bread-heavy calzone tonight so I ordered their Smokehouse Salad and added the roasted chicken. The large size salad is a hardy portion and the toppings were generous. There was a lot of chicken and bacon, corn salsa and cheese. The tender butter lettuce leaves were cut into small bites for easy eating. This comes with a barbecue ranch dressing that was good without tasting too much like ranch. My husband ordered his go-to calzone, the Fatty B. It's a large portion as well, full of meat, cheese and garlicky goodness. He ordered a spicy tomato sauce to dip it in. The have a fun selection of sodas in their fountain, including Frostie Rootbeer from Breese, Illinois. Since it was a beautiful evening we opted to sit on their patio. While the view of the parking lot and Mid Rivers Mall Drive is not especially scenic, sitting outside spared us from hearing the loud pop music playing inside. read more

The restaurant was clean and the service was great. Very knowledgable staff. We ordered the Spinach artichoke bites, beets me salad, Costanza & Carmen - all to split and share. The food was delicious and there are a lot of cool ingredient options. I enjoyed everything but was MOST surprised that my favorite item hands down was the salad. This is my first time at this restaurant. We had a st. Louis calzone and an Italian salad. The salad was quite tasty, except for they put green olives in it, which I don't care for but that's personal taste preference. The meat they used was a little spicy. Overall, the salad was awesome. I think it needed mushrooms though. The calzone was tasty a little spicy, but overall quite tasty. the people that I was with. Really enjoyed their food and would definitely recommend. I would definitely try this restaurant again. The employees were awesome very friendly. They checked on us. Asked if we needed anything. I would definitely recommend this restaurant just on the employees interaction with its customers and their friendliness. So the restaurant had a good atmosphere good food good customer service. I've never had bad service at this location! I didn't get his name, but a tall gentleman with blonde hair took my order over the phone and rung me out when I came to pick it up. I ordered from Door Dash and received my order with someone else's calzone instead of one I ordered. I called the dasher and she blamed the store saying "that's what they gave me"(she didn't doublecheck the order, offer to make it right or apologize). I called the store and they were so kind and understanding. The general manager offered to make a fresh one and deliver it himself. He had it done quickly and got it right out to us.
