The restaurant is cozy and has a small variety of Latin American cuisine, with focus on Peruvian. Wine was not available that evening for some reason, so I went to a street vendor and purchased a 1/2 of an open bottle, and headed back to Torogoz. I decided to order the Lomo Saltado, which I hadn't had in Pittsburgh. The dish had tender well seasoned filet mignon plus skinny fries and couscous. It's a reflection of Chinese influence on Peruvian culinary . I really enjoyed it. Chef Julio stopped by to say which was lovely. We chatted a little bit about moving from California to Pittsburgh. Nice to hear that he settled in nicely with his family and is happy to call Pittsburgh home. Jenny, his wife, was also helping that evening. It was a pleasure speaking with them. I only brought an already uncorked half a bottle due to the BYOB circumstances, but they did remove it when I questioned it.
