Coffee is always really good. Service is always really good. And food is OK. The coffee doesn't quite hit it out of the park. It's good but they're not quite in the top echelon as far as the best tasting coffee in my opinion. But, I still am a repeat customer and will always bring my business their way because they're consistent and have a nice ambience/location serving up good quality coffee consistently. Warning! This is a long-winded story. I came to Marin from Southern California to stay with my family after being caught in the waves of the most recent tech layoffs. Now, I used to live in Marin, but I was always a Starbucks girl because I didn't know any better, but it wasn't the environment I was looking for to get started on my job search, as I was ready to cry at any given moment and I couldn't stand the thought of being exposed while crying. I needed peace. I came to Equator because it looked nice and it seemed big. I planned on staying there for the majority of my day to make applying for jobs my full-time job. So I ordered some food and coffee and picked a corner to work. When I got my food order, I almost wish it wasn't so delicious because I was in a public place, and unbuttoning my pants and licking the plate would have meant that I hit rock bottom. To be perfectly honest, I am not a coffee person. I don't really understand the hype, but I ordered a latte (the only word I know) just so I could get some energy back. Again, remember that I was comparing against Starbucks, so that's red flag #1, but wow. Wow. *Chef's kiss* While the food and drink were great, why I am really writing this review (shout out to all the people who have too much time on their hands) is because there was a woman who was working there named Monica who was so full of energy and rambunctious and sassy-in-a-good-way, that it was making me happy just to be in her presence. She was loud and firey, making jokes with people to uplift their spirits. Being around her made me want to stay longer. At one point, Monica was even singing so unapologetically, and said to someone, "I sound just like Beyoncé." She is Beyoncé, always. I told you all this would be a long story, and I am a promise-keeper. But being there was just what I needed to have a good day -- my first good day in a while -- and I needed to get the word out. It even made me realize that I was so unhappy at my last job that being laid off was probably a gift. Seeing how happy Monica was showed me that I can find somewhere and something to do for work that didn't make me want to scream and throw my computer into the ocean. Thank you, Sausalito Equator! Service was not great just because of them forgetting a bunch of stuff and took a while for the drinks to come. But everyone was very nice and the food was good. Most items you can choose how you would like your egg cooked which is nice. Also it is more cafe like style as you go up order than sit down so if you were wanted a full sit down restaurant this is not the place. Pretty good coffee if you can get one. Takes 20+ minutes for a cappuccino and it's not even that busy. This is a regular occurrence at both locations. Go to Firehouse - super skilled baristas and always well staffed. Last time I was at the mill valley location everyone waiting in line just left. My friend and I ordered ice lavender latte and ice mocha. When we came to picked up our order, the lady said this is a ice vanilla latte. I told her that I ordered an Ice lavendar latte and she did not remake the drink for me. Instead she poured lavendar syrup inside the ice vanilla latte and said "here's your drink". First of all, this is unacceptable because this is clearly not what I ordered. She said there's a drink for ice vanilla lavendar latte. I didn't want to escalate this problem any further so I just took the drink and left. I am super disappointed with the customer service and not planning to come back here. read more

Great location and plenty of nice outdoor seating during covid times. The staff are very friendly and orders go through quick. This establishment does have a public restroom next to "The Karl" store, which is right next to it. Fairly convenient considering many places no longer have public restrooms. There is fairly easy parking near the store as well as on the residential streets. Great coffee and would love to be back. read more

Ordered a matcha latte (which took 20 minutes to come out, but I do understand they are busy and probably understaffed) and it came out lukewarm and tasted like flavored milk. It wasn't frothy and creamy and didn't really pack that matcha flavor. Not sure what kind they use. I had a negative experience here a year ago, specifically with food/service, but because I love their coffee, I thought I would give them another try. The Same. The coffee drinks remain a 5 star. No better latte out there, Equator makes the best coffee. As for food and service it was mediocre. I ordered the 2 eggs (poched) breakfast. The eggs were pre-cooked and arrived cold. They serve a piece of dry toast with it. No butter or jam on plate, or on tables. I had to ask for it, with staff who seemed to think that was a weird request. Who serves breakfast items with toast, with no butter or jam readily available??? Also no ketchup on tables. I had to go to kitchen to ask for it, and got a little dish of it. Table was dirty. Server was going to put my plate on it, when I asked her to please give it a clean. She came back with a dry rag she ran on the table, which obviously did nothing. I asked her if she had a cleaning solution to use. She came back with a wet rag, "cleaned" the table and left it semi-wet. Overall a bad experience. read more

These guys get a fair amount right but then there is just always an issue. Love to love them but easy to get frustrated! Each time we go either the person at the register is not speaking English on the level they need to to be turning the line in a timely fashion or honey is left off waffle or too few bacon arrive or or and we are always having to ask for order to be fixed. Very disappointing - I didn't even realize the location had changed hands until I was inside and I ordered a coffee (good coffee of course) which I had to go pick up at the other side and I ordered an avocado toast with a poached farm egg which I waited almost 20 minutes for and when I got it home it was an over cooked unappealing scrambled egg. The person in front of me had ordered a croissant with an egg and it came without it. The staff seemed very apologetic to them so I think they're just going through growing pains - will probably give it another chance but it seems very disorganized right now. read more

Been coming here almost everyday since it started 10 years back when it was Cibo - only to come back recently and see prices (which were high $15 sandwich) double for some key items - I get profit is important post Covid survival - but chafing $10 for something that cost .75 in ingredients is just wrong. Love the location and the coffee - might want to rethink the corporate numbers and give us back the local hang instead of just seeing tourists and $$$! read more

The busboys need to clean the tables inside and outside as soon as people leave, often I sit at tables with other people's messes, little unsanitary. The folks who work here work hard. Casey has really improved the place as the new manager. Great guy. Also Alex the barista is one of the best I have ever encountered. It doesn't look as neat as the pictures though on this site. I think they need more busboys and they need to show more of a sense of urgency in the busing and cleaning department. Lot better than it was. read more

I used to love Equator. Goodness, even though they've been on site since June 3019, they've done a very poor job taking over Cibo. New management showed a lack of respect for a much beloved staff member, the tablets to take orders weren't working or staff weren't sure how they worked, and the space feels uncomfortably corporate and cold. I came here for the first time yesterday afternoon while waiting for a table at Salito's across the street. When placing my order the barista gave me tips about ordering at other coffee shops and was very helpful. I ended up ordering a cold brew with milk and an iced chai latter with oat milk. I waited over 30 min and saw people who ordered after me claiming their drinks. Finally I asked about my order and when I told the woman that I had been waiting over 30 min she told me that she had looked at the orders back 30 and didn't have my ticket. After just staring at me for a couple seconds she finally asks what my drink was. Still I received a cold brew without milk and a chai with whole milk. The food is great here and they have a huge bike rack catering to cyclists passing through Sausalito. The one major pain point is they are super slow. No matter when I visit, whether it's meal time or the place is empty, it seems like I'm always waiting 5 minutes for a normal coffee or 10-15 minutes for a sandwich, and more at lunchtime on the weekends. read more

Equator Coffee was a perfect breakfast place for my mom and I before hiking in Muir woods. I had the Matcha latte with oat milk and the avocado toast. Matcha was one of the best i've had and the toast was unique. My mom had the Summer Vegetable Hash which was incredibly seasoned and the tomatoes were perfect. The atmosphere was awesome. The interior is beautiful and calming. The owner was walking around talking to people and there was a staff member walking around with banana bread samples (YUM). The only thing I would change is I wish they had gluten free bread for their sandwiches and toast. Besides that it was wonderful and I hope they do well. read more
