There was a great selection of delicious pastries! I just wish there were more sandwich options with turkey or chicken. I tried the lasagna, and it was very flavorful, although it was a little too salty for my taste. I would definitely order it again if it had a bit less salt. Overall, I had a great experience. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and always smiling, and the service was excellent. The drive-thru was cute and convenient, with very little wait time for both food and drinks. I've been coming here for years, and love getting coffee via drive through as it saves a lot of time. There are a couple of tables here and about 5 spots to park if someone wanted to sit and eat instead of eating in their car. I'm sensitive to that since I'm trying to keep my new car smell as long as I can. There is also a short little walking trail that goes along a marsh behind the next-door hotel. I love how they open so early at 4:30! This is the best for commuters but not great for late coffee drinkers since they close at 4:30pm and 12:30pm on weekends! Closed Sundays. read more

Today, I drove through the Mill Valley Coffee Shop drive-through called Cable Car Coffee. I have been a customer there since the business originally opened. When I got to the service window, and there were no other cars in line on either side of the drive through, I order a large Latte and large regular coffee. There was only one person working inside the business. I asked that the server to please "double cup" my regular coffee and put a sleeve on the Latte, because i ha1ve physical limitations and need a stiffer cup. He reacted by telling me that the double cup request would add an additional 75 cents to the order total! I said forget the double cup request! Then, once he handed me the two drinks, he said, "That will be $8.45 for the two drinks". Are you kidding me?!!! When I responded by saying, "what is the amount?" he said, "Just check what Starbucks charges!" I checked the Starbucks website - the two coffees I ordered at Cable Car Coffee would have been, at the most, $4.00 - $5.00! Oh, and even though a window sign says that the company takes credit cards, as I was pulling one out of my wallet to use to pay, he said, "Cash only!" Really? I used to know George Lyon, the person who originally owned that business, and am sure he never would have allowed such a ripoff! I strongly suggest that everyone that's been a customer at Cable Car Coffee find a new Coffee shop that won't rip them off! Apparently, no one is "watching the store"!!! And the person working there today (Saturday, June 17th) probably took home a pocketful of money that he stole from customers! I will never go back! read more

We tried this coffee shop for the first time yesterday, as we always drive by and it looks super cute. However when it came to order, it was far from easy lol. I asked for an Iced Hazelnut Latte with oat milk and the barista looked at me like if I was ordering something from another world. She kept on asking me to clarify and pretty much ask how to make it lol. Then my husband asked for a blended drink (from their menu) and again, the girl was like "you want what?" I couldn't stop laughing because I was so confused as to what was happening. I then asked what donuts they had and she was like "we don't have any" followed by the list of what they did have ‍ Drinks were good, but won't be coming back... if you're in a rush, this is not your place. We used to be regular customers before the pandemic--delicious coffee and tea drinks and a wide variety of tasty foods. That part hasn't changed, but when I visited today for the second time this week and attempted to redeem a loyalty punch card we had with 11 of the 10 required stamps on it, the manager got really hostile, really quickly. Rather than saying--"new ownership; sorry, can't accept the old card," he insisted on arguing that there were not enough stamps on the card (there clearly were, though a past employee had put two in the wrong place). He kept insisting I was counting wrong and acted like I was trying to scam him. He said some of the stamps were in Sharpie, and I said, the guy who rang me up two days ago marked it with a Sharpie! Eventually he let me redeem the card, but ignored me when I asked if the new owner had a loyalty program, interrupting me saying, "thank you" by saying a firm, "BYE!" and turning away. The mocha was delicious, and I was all ready to restart my Cable Car Coffee habit, but this experience left such a bad taste in my mouth I'm not sure I'll be back any time soon. read more

True to its name, this place is a legit cute cable car on the side of the highway. I purchase the sausage breakfast sandwich and a vanilla latte. Let me tell you! A little drive through coffee shop in a shape of a cable car! Hubby and I have been here multiple times and it's usually our Friday morning routine on the way to the work. They have brewed coffees, teas, chais, blended drinks, breakfast sandwiches, and oatmeal. I usually get a chai & ham/egg english muffin. Hubby likes to coffee & oatmeal. I feel like the quality is better than Starbucks in terms of both their food and drinks. The chai is not soaked in sugar like Starbucks. I like the convenience of the drive up, grab and go type of place and there usually is no line when I get there at 730 in the morning. FYI- there are 2 sides to the cable car. You can get service in the front or back which is great. read more

We love Cable Car Coffee, kids love it, dogs love it, and it's NOT a Starbucks! It's sooooooooo convenient, serves the purpose, and off we go. I don't come during the morning rush. When we do drive up once a week, we're always greeted politely and cheerfully by friendly staff. They're patient with our orders, and the kids love the hot chocolate on our way to the city. Both lines on both sides of the cable car station runs smoothly. If one side has too many cars, simply pull up to the other side, kinda like Java Detour. Have stopped here twice now in the last two weeks during my new early morning commute (6am). I was worried there would be a long line, but I was able to drive right up to the window. First time, the woman who helped me was SO bright, courteous and efficient. She happily answered all my newbie questions and I was done in a flash. Second time, again no line, and man at the window was also very nice. Latte with soy milk is rich and not overly sweet. Almost tasted like a mocha - would love to find out what kind of soy milk they use! Bagel with cream cheese is done lightly in a panini press, so may be flatter than some prefer. But, IMHO, when driving/eating in a car, I don't mind the more compact presentation. There was just the right amount of cream cheese to not be dry, but to also not squoodge out when taking a bite. I asked for sink water with my purchase to fill my filtered water bottle and the worker wouldn't take it. I understand that during these times . But then proceeded to try and charge me 50 cents to give me water ( from the sink) in a cup . I'm sorry but that is some BULL. As a customer you should be able to give me some water with my purchase . Instead of saving 50 cents and keeping me as a customer you just lost all my business . Cool independent coffeehouse, stopped in early on my way to the city. The drive through line moved quickly and I had my hot java and was back on my journey in no time. Now I'm a hot, strong and black coffee drinker and my dark roast cup of joe was exactly that, rich bold and full flavored, a great way to start my day. Can't speak for all the flavored drinks but for a good cup of hot black coffee to go, it works. Cheap, good, and fast. Conveniently located right off the 101 by Mill valley. Offers a variety of coffee and teas and meal options served through not one but two drive-through windows. The friendly employees come out and take your order before driving up to the window where you pick up your order. All beverage and meal options are on the cheapside but I've never had the meal options so cannot speak to the quality. However the coffee that I order is always very good and made to order. I go to cable car coffee often and have consistently received the same high-quality service. I also like how they can tailor your order and do so with a smile. I really like almond milk in my coffee and Starbucks doesn't have almond milk. Right there they have a competitive advantage at least from my standpoint. Looking forward to returning. read more
