This is a very small casual place that we tried on our way back from Helen. The waitress was very attentive and took special care understanding my kids food allergies. The cook even came out to make sure everything was okay. The hamburger steaks were great and my kids loved the burgers and hotdogs and the fries were actually great. Overall a very pleasant experience. Don't expect anything fancy, but a very solid option for casual eating. read more

I'm not sure what's happened to this place? Our coffee was served in styrofoam cups and the food on plastic plates. The sausage was so overcooked it was not edible, hash browns too. I'm only giving it 2 stars because the pancakes were good. read more

We decided to venture a bit out of Helen for our last dinner and did a u-turn after passing by this place. So glad we did! The waitress (i sadly did not catch her name) was so sweet with my boys, and especially patient with my 8 year old and he tried to decide what he wanted. My burger was 10/10! My husband had the bbq sandwich and felt like they skimped a bit on the portion, but he loved the flavor. Highly recommend this spot if you need a break from the crowds of downtown Helen! read more

Now I've had my share of pancakes from various breakfast chains and mom-and-pop stops, but theirs are BY FAR the best I've ever had. I don't know what exactly it is, but there is a flavor that stacks above any other 'cakes I've had. In fact, the whole meal was delicious... but I finished my child's pancakes and wished I had gotten my own. Also, from the outside it looks like it might seat 10 people but it holds more than you think. Is it the fanciest place? No. But food and service were dynamite. And I've been coming up this way for 9 years and JUST found this spot. Don't wait, get them pancakes! read more

After Hiking today my wife and I went to Sautee Trail Cafe as that was her choice of where to eat. We've never been here before so when we went inside we told the hostess that we've never eaten there before and asked where to sit, she pointed out several tables. We decided to sit at a nearby table and watched two groups of more than 8 people walk in after us. After waiting 15 minutes the hostess gave out menus to the two groups but never bothered for us. My wife then got up and asked for a menu, they told us they were out but then came back with some paper menus. Waited another 15-20 minutes as the hostess took the orders for the two groups and others that came in after us, she finally made it to our table in which we ordered our drinks (water) and food. Fast forward 30+ minutes and still without food the two groups (appear to be from local churches) received there food. Still awaiting ours (2 burgers and chips). Another 5-10 min go by and she goes to a table behind us and asks about their burger and then she finally makes it to ours and asks about how I'd like my burger (Explained to her earlier just make it without tomato/onion) At that time my wife asks her if they started cooking our burgers yet and the hostess said no but they will. Long story short, if you are not from that locale then don't expect to get served in a timely fashion. We sat there for over an hour and watched the hostesses (they had 3) take care of two larger groups and two other tables, all which came in after us and seemingly from the same church. I can't say as how good/bad the food was as we never received it. After the hostess said they haven't even started our burgers yet, we both got up and left. It's plain to see that they value locals over just some random couple coming in after a hike for a decent meal. Needless to say that we were highly disappointed at the lack of professionalism out of any of the hostesses. I would be more than happy to provide a rating of ZERO if I could but hopefully a 1 star will suffice. Not sure if this will ever get read and I can only imagine that staff probably doesn't care but if you aren't from that area, be prepared to wait while the locals get served first. read more

We have no hesitation driving 40+ miles for a great breakfast or lunch at this out-of-the-way spot. The food is absolutely the best; the staff is really friendly, and the service is superb. Be sure to try their rye toast!!!! We have tried just about everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. This is definitely our "go to" restaurant for breakfast. Oh, the lunches are the best in the area. Large portions, tasty, and very reasonably priced.Country food at its best for sure. If you are a city slicker expecting glitz and glitter, forget it. All you are going to get here is great food, wonderful service, family atmosphere, and meals that will stick to your ribs, fill you up, and will NOT empty your wallet. read more

My husband and I stopped here on our way home from Helen for a late breakfast. It was the perfect spot! The waitress was really sweet. They were quick with our order. My husband had the western omelet with grits and biscuits. I had the French toast with bacon and cheese grits. The food was delicious! Best breakfast and prices in Helen and Clarksville area. The biscuits and gravy were great, the eggs and bacon the best and perfectly cooked to order. But the country potatoes were superb. Best we had at any restaurant!!!!!!!!! And they were a substitute for hash browns which looked good but I am partial to country style. The country ham was way too salty. I know country ham is supposed to be salty, but this was beyond ludicrous. I could barely eat it. It also had an aftertaste reminiscent of chlorine. The biscuits were dry and did not seem to be homemade. If they were homemade then my southern belle, Georgia-native grandmother is rolling over in her grave. (RIP Mimi.) The eggs and bacon were good. But those are hard to mess up. The pigs and chickens do most of the work. read more

Nice meal with the family tonight. Steph was tired from work so she wanted something hearty but not fancy. Sautee Trail Cafe it was. Not crowded, service was friendly and efficient. Our meals were plentiful, cooked perfectly and served hot. Beverages we're refilled without having to ask. My friend chicken was crispy and juicy. I chose a baked potato and slaw with it. (Texas Toast came with it too). Mark and Stephany chose burgers, he with tater tots and she with fries. All cooked to perfection. Sienna had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. You have a choice of grape or apple jelly. With four drinks the bill came to $38.00! Not bad to feed four. Nice clean place with friendly service and plenty of parking. Located between Clarkesville and Cleveland, Georgia in the North Georgia Mountains. Worth taking a short detour on your was to Helen! read more

Would love to know who owns this now b/c we have gone here when it was first built and the owners then had a daughter named Jessie. The one thing I'd like to see done is: require hair nets and the men cut that long nasty looking hair and beards. That is definitely a turn OFF. On the positive side our waitress was very friendly and efficient. Huge pancakes were very good. There is no baby changing station in the bathroom so one of us had to sit on the toilet and hold the baby on their lap so someone else could do the changing. Very awkward for all! Before leaving noticed how dirty the towel dispenser was, the wall around the light switch, the outside of the bathroom door and the wood chairs. Disappointing experience. read more
