Large Ahi Bowl with Black Rice
    Michelle N.

Such fresh ahi and they are generous with their portions too! I tried both types but I think I like the spicy a little more. The black rice is less soft and has a bit more texture which I like, however, my husband prefers the white rice. I hope they have more of a selection I. The future but what they currently offer is also amazing and I will definitely be back!

Spicy and shoyu bowl, shoyu and wasabi in back

Came hungry, left hungry. The fish is high quality and sauced perfectly. Great flavor. They only have 3 fish option, all tuna, spicy, wasabi, and shoyu. We tried all of them and loved them all. The downside is the portion size, the tiniest scoop, and the price tag is hefty. Big bowl of rice and two small scoops of fish. I would have loved some thin sliced shredded cabbage for texture, but there is no toppings. The fish does stand on its own though. It was good to try once, but unless they give me a little more fish I'm not sure I'll be back.

Love this spot! I came back and I got the shoyu tuna again. The owner is super nice and gets the food out so quick. I went directly this time but usually I DoorDash or if you check out through their app, you can get 20% off! I love the Hawaiian theme in there, makes me feel like I'm at home!

Small Bowl with Shoyu Ahi and Spicy Ahi and White Rice

Simply put, this is the closest I've had in Salt Lake City to what I grew up with on Oahu. The fish is fresh, and it tastes like back home. I got a small with white rice and half shoyu and half spicy. I will say, the spicy was not what I'm used to, and it was not spicy, but it tasted fresh, so I'll give it a pass. Hopefully, they were having a bad spicy ahi say or they soon change their recipe. On the other hand, the shoyu was fire and truly tasted like home. I would go back, but would just order the shoyu ahi next time. As far as service goes, the one guy at the counter was nice. There is basically no seating, so I just took the bowl home to eat. A small price to pay for great poke (at least by SLC standards lol).

Savage Fish is a tiny shop with only one employee, from what we could see. He was so kind and helpful, and even offered samples! We brought our ten year old with us and she is usually pretty picky. She hesitantly tried her sample of shoyu tuna and her eyes lit up as she realized how much she loved it. We ordered the three scoop bowl of shoyu, wasabi, and spicy tuna/crab. I usually don't like wasabi, but it was actually my favorite of the three. The poke was served over warm rice and tasted exceptional. The man working there was so kind, he split our order into two bowls at no extra charge so that the spicy and wasabi tunas wouldn't touch the shoyu for our kiddo. Everything was fantastic. Easily the second best poke we have ever had, and that's only because the first best was located somewhere that everything could be caught fresh that day. My only complaint would be that there is no seating, so we had to take our meal to go-- and since we don't live anywhere close, we ended up eating around the side of the building on the ground.

Horrible service. I'm so disappointed with this old brown orchid lei that my son picked up for $40. I had asked for a refund multiple times for a month now!! The manager is never in and when the workers pass on my number it never gets anywhere. I've still been waiting for ANYTHING! No follow up, apology, nothing! Please check your lei before purchasing because refunds are impossible. Someone please advise.

There is absolutely nothing better than Savage Fish Poke and I wish I could do more for them to get the word out. Their poke is the best thing compared to the real poke from Hawaii. This place is also owned by Pacific Islanders and AUTHENTIC. They really put the aloha in everything they do. They are the kindest people I've ever met, and go above and beyond to make sure I enjoy my experience when I get poke. Even when I order on Uber eats they remember who I am. Whether it's the Li Ming Hui Gummy Bears, the Poke Bombs, or the Carrot Cake... it's all good. The shop is smaller and not a sit-down restaurant, but it's equivalent to all the other authentic poke experiences that exist in Hawaii. MAHALO

Mele's great customer service plus the good poke was 10/10. We were greeted when we walked thru the door, It was our first time & she gave us different options & what it includes. The food was great! We came at 4pm and the fish was fresh and tasted great. Thank you Mele! Your customer service was 10/10. Keep it up!

There's not too much to say. If you like poke, check this place out. The pictures can tell you more than I could say.

Hands down one of the best poke spots in the SLC area. A great spot to grab some for your weekend picnics or lunch. Stopped in to see what this place was all about and I just wish they had a bit more styles of poke to choose from cause man it is good. Had to try the original shoyu style and was not disappointed. Great place to go where there's no extra things added to it and where it's not 50$ for a small bowl. Overall the tuna was good and the service provided was even better. Just wish they had a few extra things on the menu even Musubi would be a great addition.

It was pretty empty, and we were helped right away. The offer signature bowls or you can build your own. You choose a base and how many types of poke you want. They offer 1 for $11.95, 2 for $13.95, and 3 for $15.95 and then you can add additional scoops for $2.95 if you'd like. This seemed pretty affordable for poke downtown. I got 1 poke and went with the shoyu salmon. Then I added my toppings and sauces. I got some veggies as well as mango. I really liked the LemonShark sauce which they described as a citrusy mayo. I also got citrus ponzu and eel sauce. At the end, they have fried onion and garlic as well as tempura crispies. I really appreciated the extra crunch!! Everything from the fish to the veggies tasted super fresh. I loved it. My husband got 2 poke with ahi tuna and salmon. With the 2 and 3 poke, you also get a premium topping. He really liked his bowl. The portion sizes were good, and we left satisfied. They are a Pepsi place and don't offer diet, but they have a good brew of Pepsi zero. They also had a lemon açaí soda that was really yummy. They have a good sized seating area and an additional vault room that is decorated ocean themed. Super adorable and fun!

The seafood tasted great but they didn't give too much of it. I liked the customization and the many options that they had. Overall good poke for Utah but nothing compares to Poke in Hawaii.

The menu sign hanged on the wall says that the bowl has 3 fish options, ahi tuna, salmon, yellow tail, but the paper menu that the server uses says that it only has 2 options. I only detected that when I was watching my server scooping fish in my bowl. I asked him about it and he said he'll add a third scoop for me. I think restaurant will need to look into this to reduce confusion. I would say I like salmon most, so maybe next time I'll order the build your bowl option.

Changing my review to 2/5 until they gain some consistent open hours. Useless having good food if there's no way to get it. Call ahead if you're going to try it out to make sure they're open. To owners: get open. Stay open. And you'll get your 5 stars. It says something that this has upset me so much, mainly that the seafood is the best poke in town and I can no longer get it. TLDR: If you want the best Poke in the valley, you're going to have to brave Main Street. It's absolutely worth it. Favorite order: Dragon Bowl I grew up by the coast, so believe me when I say I know seafood. The seafood of the hundred new poke places in the valley are so incredibly bland I honestly find it nothing short of offensive. I've tried so many poke places where I was let down again and again with bland fish smothered in a ton of one-note, overpowering sauce that those of a lesser pallet scarf down ignorantly. I kept putting off this location due to the less-than-welcoming exterior and what a mistake that was. This is hands down the tastiest fish and they use what I believe to be the correct sauce ratios. You can absolutely tell this restaurant is run by a family; there's a very casual atmosphere behind the counter, but I enjoy it because it makes me feel like I'm on vacation again. The staff are very warm and even read off a list of ingredients in their sauce to see if my wife would enjoy it with her specific allergies. The portions are still pretty large for having great quality seafood, but perhaps not as large as the flavorless monsters of cheap seafood found at other places. This is a far better bang for your buck than any sushi you can get.
