Mini order bbq teriyaki chicken macaroni salad and rice (not so mini is it!)

If you haven't been to Island Grinds in West Valley City you are truly missing out on the absolute best authentic Hawaiian food. This is a family owned and operated restaurant run by siblings who are always warm and welcoming. As soon as you walk in you feel the "Ohana". My go to order is the bbq teriyaki chicken (creature of habit) but I have tried most all the items and they are all delicious. When my kids from California come visit this is always their first time ! RUN ‍

Double the flavor! BBQ teriyaki chicken & teriyaki beef. The perfect 2 meat combo.

Absolutely loved my experience at Island Grinds! Visiting Utah for a mini vacation, I was craving some island food and this spot was the first to pop up--and I'm so glad it did. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, and the menu had all the island classics I was hoping for. The star of the meal was definitely the **Pupu Chicken**--it's a must try! Perfectly crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. Every bite took me straight to the islands. The portions were generous and everything tasted fresh and homemade. If you're in Utah and in the mood for delicious island food, Island Grinds should be at the top of your list. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town! Great and Professional Employees. All the food was cooked well and temperatures were correct. Food was prepared and cooked to almost perfection. The presentation and taste were pretty damn good. The white rice was a little clumpy but it was good for a sticky rice dish. Very nice and not over done decorating in the restaurant, good music that was not too loud and the place was very clean especially the public restrooms. We would have liked a little more menu items such as some Asian noodles and something with curry. But a to big menu is not a great thing for a small business, and I can appreciate that. I would recommend that everyone give this place a try as well as a fair chance as there are not too many Hawaiian or Island restaurants out there.

Found this place on yelp while i was in Salt Lake City for work. Now the caveat is i only tried two things the Pupu Chicken plate and I he chicken skin appetizer. Both were very good, like really good. Id come back just for this. If im ever in the area, i may try other stuff on the menu but then again, i may get what i already know is fantastic!

Really good food, big portions and good hospitality. Been here multiple times I've gotten katsu chicken, pupu chicken, shrimp, teriyaki beef and teriyaki chicken. Everything has been amazing so far and amazing Mac salad. Highly recommend and I'll keep coming back. Current was the pupu chicken and katsu chicken. Had already eaten a couple of pieces, and still have a whole lot more!

This is definitely a mom-and-pop shop - great tasting food that's finger-lickin' good! What a great find and thanks to a work colleague who took me here while we were in the area. Ordered the infamous PuPu Chicken with Kalbi short ribs - in my opinion, is the best 2 meat plate combo they have! Both were so tasty. The PuPu chicken is probably the best (Hawaiian) deep-fried chicken I've ever had, while the kalbi ribs were soft, packed with flavor that makes you want more after every bite! This definitely would've been a five-star review but the tables weren't wiped down very well and the place wasn't super tidy. However, we came for the fantastic food, but the overall experience definitely could've been better.

A 1 hr wait for food is unacceptable especially since I only ordered one thing. I don't see myself ever coming back here ever.

It was pretty empty, and we were helped right away. The offer signature bowls or you can build your own. You choose a base and how many types of poke you want. They offer 1 for $11.95, 2 for $13.95, and 3 for $15.95 and then you can add additional scoops for $2.95 if you'd like. This seemed pretty affordable for poke downtown. I got 1 poke and went with the shoyu salmon. Then I added my toppings and sauces. I got some veggies as well as mango. I really liked the LemonShark sauce which they described as a citrusy mayo. I also got citrus ponzu and eel sauce. At the end, they have fried onion and garlic as well as tempura crispies. I really appreciated the extra crunch!! Everything from the fish to the veggies tasted super fresh. I loved it. My husband got 2 poke with ahi tuna and salmon. With the 2 and 3 poke, you also get a premium topping. He really liked his bowl. The portion sizes were good, and we left satisfied. They are a Pepsi place and don't offer diet, but they have a good brew of Pepsi zero. They also had a lemon açaí soda that was really yummy. They have a good sized seating area and an additional vault room that is decorated ocean themed. Super adorable and fun!

The seafood tasted great but they didn't give too much of it. I liked the customization and the many options that they had. Overall good poke for Utah but nothing compares to Poke in Hawaii.
