Great food, I've been here a few times before but forgot to leave a review so I'll start now! They have a bunch of sandwich and salad options that are fresh and delicious. I got the Dutch beef noodle casserole, which was the special today, so it came with a refreshing side salad, which I got with the tangerine balsamic dressing, which was a bit sweet but very light and a great appetizer. The portion for the casserole was just right, at first it seemed small but it's probably because most places serve portions so large that I never finish them. I'd highly recommend this dish, it was a lightly creamed tomato base with delicious ground beef and a few noodles, which hit the spot for lunch today! This is a little hidden gem off of Highway 3. I've been a few times in the past couple of years, and today took my husband. Lovely little cafe and bakery with plenty of seating. The employees are always super friendly. I've had everything from salads to sandwiches and everything is always fresh and delicious. Their menu offers such a variety of interesting choices, like the Hot Jalemento cheese! I had a hard time deciding but ended up ordering the Beaufort sandwich which is pot roast with provolone cheese, lettuce and tomatoes, ancho mayo, and citrus pepper sauce, a side of potato salad, their signature little muffin, and sweet tea. My husband got the St. Charles, and really enjoyed it. We got dessert to go, a melt in your mouth piece of strawberry cake. When ordering you are greeted with a showcase of the most tempting and delectable desserts, everything from cookies, cupcakes, bars, pie, and cake! I had a conference for my company. I scheduled lunch to be delivered at 10:30. The food had not arrived. I had to call them at 10:45 to figure out what's going on. After trying to give direction to the driver, I decided to pick up the food from the restaurant after 40 mins. By the way, the manager says she left at 10:00. 12:15, I get the food to my conference. It was unacceptable for me to have to check on my order. The drivers excuse was that "her gps didn't work". I was in a 7 story building, not on a neighborhood.... also on one of the 2 main roads in the town. Here's what's even worse. The manager promises a $50.00 gift card and a tray of cookies to "make it right". I felt relieved because it made me feel that she understood my grief. However, I received no call, no email, no contact at all. I am disgusted. This place will for sure not deliver on time and the manager's word means nothing. The food itself was great. I just wish they acted professiona. I can say for sure that I will not be ordering from them again or even going there personally. read more

Had a wonderful experience today at the new Magnolia Cafe and Bakery on Highway 3 near Clear Lake City Blvd. The hubby offered to take me to lunch and suggested we try Magnolia since we'd driven by a number of times before it opened. The decor is clean and bright. We went up to the counter to look at the menu and were greeted by a very friendly and attentive employee who took the time to explain how it all worked. Besides what's listed on the board the cafe also offers family style meals to go. I ordered the Harvest salad-- turkey with goat cheese, sweet pecans, dried cranberries and mixed greens with balsamic vinaigrette. My husband had the Reuben with a side of red potato salad. We took a number and went to fill our drinks. My husband commented, "Wow, real glasses, not plastic." The food arrived promptly and we were not disappointed. I loved my salad. It was light, fresh and full of flavor. It wasn't sliced, processed turkey, it was the real deal, Thanksgiving turkey. The salad came with a petite carrot or zucchini muffin---I couldn't tell which it was but it was sweet and moist. The Reuben was high quality corned beef with melted cheese, thousand island dressing (anyone wonder where exactly these thousand islands are located? ;-) My husband said it and the potato salad were both really good. As we ate I thought to myself, "I'm being so good, eating this healthy, delicious salad and resisting the GORGEOUS display of sweets at the counter." Yeah, me! Before I could finish patting myself on my back, the hubby said, "Want to split a piece of cake?" of course all willpower went out the window and I screamed, "Yes!!" A few minutes later he came back with a piece of Fudge Ripple Pecan cake, their signature dessert. It was a sweet cream cheese layer baked into a moist chocolate cake, topped with a rich chocolate frosting and pecans. Yum! Willpower is overrated! My first thought walking out of this Café was "how disappointing." At a glance, the atmosphere is nice and quaint with an overall cleanliness, so my first impression was, "well, this certainly looks nice!", however, upon trying the food (I had ordered the Chicken Pesto Panini) I was immediately struck by the odd taste of the chicken. It clearly tasted to me, as if someone had microwaved it, that odd sort-of unpleasant taste instantly filled my mouth when biting into the chicken. Whilst the bread was fine (not really notable that is), the "pesto" flavor was pretty slim-to-none. It was simply not appetizing. Also, when attempting to order coffee (you know it's in the namesake Café?) it was not available. Overall completely disappointed and unfortunate that this was the experience. I left feeling sick to my stomach which I hope (for my sake) isn't food poisoning. I honestly wish the best for the business and hope they improve, as the atmosphere is inviting and it is, most definitely, salvageable. read more

I gotta say, I was hoping for a better experience than what I received. I bought my son a key lime pie for his birthday, instead of a regular cake, and it was an absolute mistake. The pie tasted like it was made from jello, spoiled milk, and had been sitting in a refrigerator for about 10 days. My son, who will eat just about anything, took one bite, went to the sink and spit it out. His comment to me was "pretty damn sure our dog wouldn't eat this." The people seemed really nice, and it was crowded with moms, retired folks, and people on dates, but I hope there experience was much better than mine. Picked up cookies and a pie to take home the other day. Purchasing/deciding was kind of stressful because the prices aren't near the actual items; they are high above on the board. I just felt like I had to go in and know what I wanted to get, state it, and get out. However, the pie we picked up (cherry) was great! The crust was really good. However, the whole pies that were available for purchase were limited--if there was a piece missing, you were out of luck. The three pies I was eyeing were all missing a piece--but I guess I could have called in earlier and reserved one--I think I was expecting more cake/pie availability like Marie Callendar's pie place. Half of my family ate an early dinner here last night, before my oldest son's soccer game. I ordered the Beaufort panini. The bread was excellent. As should be the case at a bakery. It really was quite excellent, though. If that's a homemade loaf, which I assume it is, I'd purchase it regularly. The pot roast was average. A little dry. The mango/pepper sauce was also excellent. The cheese, however, was ice cold. Aren't paninis pressed hot? It's like they made the sandwich, grilled it, and then said, "Ooops, forgot the cheese." And added it after-the-fact. The overall effect of the sandwich was satisfying, though. Mostly because of the bread. My wife's order was made incorrectly. But they did bring her out a new one within a few minutes. My son seemed to enjoy his grilled cheese. It was also uncomfortably warm in the restaurant. I get that it's a bakery. Lots of ovens going. But in an air conditioned building, while wearing shorts and a t-shirt, I shouldn't remarking on the absurd temperature. Another patron overheard me and agreed. Maybe they were having AC performance issues. A final comment, and maybe this is a weird one, but I would have appreciated a public trash can somewhere on the floor. There was a tiny one (a few inches in diameter) near the drink station. But with kids, we often have crap to throw away: adhesives from place mat, straw rappers, stuff that falls on the floor, food picked off that they refuse to eat, destroyed napkins, wrappers from home-brought food, the bag from the free cookie, etc. read more

First time visitor and absolutely loved this little place. I was impressed by all the yummy food they prepare, I was impressed by the number of people visiting. Everyone seem to be enjoying delicious food. Everything we ordered was tasty and fresh. My only worry was that perhaps the booths and chairs might be wiped down between customers, as there were a lot of crumbs and stickiness. Otherwise this is a great place be sure to visit! read more

Charming business. The menu is simple, creative, and has a variety of options/combinations to choose from. I came here with about 6 other people. There is almost too much available seating, which is a tad odd, but I'm curious if this place typically gets packed to the max or not during a weekday. I got the Savannah which consisted of three tea sandwiches of my choice, a soup, and cup of fresh fruit with dipping sauce. My friends got either paninis or hot sandwiches. Because they had awesome display cases, the desserts looked very inviting. I had the key lime pie which was really good. My soup of the day (tomato basil) tasted more like thick tomato sauce. My tea sandwiches were OK. Overall, the portions are nice, and service was quick. There was a language barrier with one of the cleaning staff, so I had to go to the cash register to find out how to get a carry-out box. The cashier was chitchatting in the back of the kitchen, so I had to wait a few long seconds to catch her eye. Hrm..... Over all, I wouldn't mind coming back here. It's definitely a good lunch spot. For a light lunch, this place rocks! I've never tried their dinner or 'hot plate' meals, so I can't really talk about them, but here's my story: I was home sick, while a friend of mine went to lunch with a friend at Savannah Cafe & Bakery. I couldn't go because I didn't feel well. I asked her to bring me back some soup and some chicken salad--it sounded good. And she did this, but she bought me back a sandwich too, called the Beaufort. This was a pot roast sandwich with an aoli sauce, and it was, hands down, the BEST. SANDWICH. EVER! I ate half of this sandwich, all the chicken tortilla soup, and the chicken salad... and then later that night, I actually sent my son BACK to the cafe to buy me another Beaufort. This sandwich was THAT good. The chicken salad was pretty tasty too, as was the potato salad and the kettle chips are really good. We also had an assortment of bakery treats, like the cowboy cookie and a cream cheese cookie and a square of key lime pie. All really yummy. The prices are pretty reasonable for this type of a cafe and the food was quite good. The business was very clean and neat, but the line for ordering food is a little awkward. My son said it was a bit uncomfortable standing in line right next to people who are sitting down to eat, right in the dining area. But the cafe is cute and clean, and it's not bad for wheelchair accessibility either, especially when they aren't busy--but from what my friend tells me, it's been packed at lunchtime every time she's gone by. The good news is, they tell us they take phone orders, and they pack things very nicely in to-go packages. I will be eating that Beaufort sandwich again and again--and I'm not even a sandwich fan! But I can't wait to try their egg salad too, because if it's even half as good as the chicken salad, it'll be wonderful. I'm interested in trying their dinner hot plates and the family meals that come prepared and ready to heat, and once I do, I will definitely update my review to include information on those meals. But for now, for a lunch place and a light meal, this is a must-try at least once. I also saw chocolate covered strawberries, hand dipped, on sale around Valentine's Day for a good price too! So I'm sure they have some great gift and sweet treats too on other special occasions. read more

Really good cookies! I'm loving the peanut butter and kiss cookie, the snicker doodle and sugar cookie. I'm sure they're all good but I'm a creature of habit so I always stick to my go to's. Lovely, spacious area for desert or for a soup, casserole, salad or sandwich. They have flavored hot teas such as peach ginger tea, African harvest, orange, earl gray, breakfast, apricot, mango, decaf and cold teas. They also have coffee and decaf coffee. Nice atmosphere and lots of sweet treats. I haven't tried the cakes , brownies or cupcakes. read more

This place has a limited amount of vegetarian meals, but it is very close to where I work and it has a lot of different sandwich options so I can always come here with my co-workers if we need to grab a quick lunch. The avocado sandwich is really good (and it is vegetarian). I like it on all of their breads (White, Wheat, and Rye). I am a huge fan of their Rye bread because it isn't horribly dry like other rye breads I have had. I like their potato salad as well. It is mayonnaise based rather than mustard though which is not my favorite, but it isn't a bad side. The side of chips is good too because they are kettle chips. Both of those sides aren't what draw me to the food though. My favorite part is the dessert! The best part of the bakery is the dessert! They have pie, and cakes, and cookies! I got a thumbprint cookie with the pink frosting and I loved it! It wasn't too sweet and the cookie was perfect. I also have had their cowboy cookie which is like a super awesome chocolate chip cranberry oatmeal cookie. I have always been a fan of chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal cookies so I loved this mash up! I really want to try their cake and I think I might order one for my birthday and bring it to work :) read more

Clean, pleasant, good social distancing between tables. The decor is lovely. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. There is a wide selection of baked goods. I enjoyed the cranberry chicken salad on croissant with fruit on the side. Filling was fresh and well seasoned. Next time, I will ask them to warm the croissant to soften it. The french dip is large enough to share. Hubs enjoyed it, but was too full to finish. I ordered a cowboy cookie and a peanut butter cookie. They are soft. I expected a bit more texture. Both cookies were a bit "cakey", with mild flavor. Compliments that neither cookie was dry - that's a good thing.... ever have Sahara dry cookies? Trust me, dry cookies are sadness. We special ordered a chocolate meringue pie. Note - they require 24 hours notice. It was ready when we arrived. The pie was beautiful. The meringue reached all the way to the edge of crust. Lovely color, flavorful, and no weeping on meringue. Kudos to Savannah's for a meringue well prepared. (Meringue is something many other bakery / grocery brands fail to master.) This is a deep, rich, chocolate custard. If you prefer milder, milk chocolate ask them to explain the filling before you order. I liked the filling better than hubs did. Sadly, the pie was a Father's Day surprise. Crust was cooked through, but a little thick and blonde. A solid choice for chocolate meringue pie. read more

We've never actually ate a meal at their location but I love to stop by on my way home from work & grab a ready made meal from their refrigerator. Just take it home, pop it in the oven for about 35 minutes and voila! Delicious dinner served to your family with very little effort or prep time. When you're as busy as me sometimes you just don't have the time or energy to cook every single night. This is a perfect way to have a home cooked meal (no more pizza, fast food or frozen meals) without having to make it yourself! Clean kitchen afterward is an added bonus as well! My son and I stopped in for a late lunch today. We got the Chicken Salad sandwich on wheat with potato salad as the side. He was not a potato salad fan, but really liked this one. I thought it was an excellent simple potato salad! The chicken salad was outstanding as well and the wheat bread was very fresh and tasty. We topped off our lunch with a huge piece of the Coconut Cream Pie and it was fantastic. We would recommend eating here and definitely plan on returning soon with our entire family. read more
