When I heard that they had opened a Mexican restaurant I felt like I would finally have a chance to check out one of their restaurants which they raved about on the news and around town. The menu was a little pricey but it's apart of the Plant Riverside District so it's understandable. I booked a table here 3 months out for my birthday. The lady that answered wasn't very friendly and super short. That should have been my first red flag. But it could have been a bad day for her at 12pm. No one called the week of like most restaurant to confirm you were still coming or called with a reminder. Interior: Reminded me more of a resorts restaurant then a Mexican restaurant. Other then the cactus wallpaper there was not much to make it feel like a Mexican restaurant. Super modern decor, gray cement floors, some fun wallpaper and a few cool hanging lights but nothing that gave you that warm and cozy feeling. We were seated in the same room as the kitchen which is open to the room. So you can see the staff entering orders and the kitchen staff running around. All wait staff did have mask on which is always a bonus. I didn't get our waiter name but I remember he had a tattoo around his right upper arm which kinda looked like bottles but I could be wrong. He greeted us after about 3 minutes with waters and menus. We stated that we were waiting on a girlfriend and wanted to see the wine menu. So.... They don't really have a wine menu. Like they have six bottles offered. 1 bubbles, 3 whites and 2 reds that's it! Now I know this is a Mexican restaurant and wine really isn't their thing but 6 bottles?!? We were also informed that most of the tequila wasn't available as well. Already looking pretty bad. We decided on a bottle of the Kessler which is the ONLY Chardonnay offered by the glass or/and bottle. While we waited for the wine, we order two appetizers. I was really disappointed they didn't have table side guacamole instead it was a small scoop of guacamole served in a shallow dish. It was meant to come with cheese on top but I have a dairy allergy so we got it with no cheese. I find it really hard to believe it was made fresh in house. But, it's possible. It was saturated in lime and there was no seasoning at all. A little salt would have done wonders for it and maybe some onions and tomatoes. But no.. just avocados soaked in lime. Oh! And a single lonely jalapeño on the side for $15 The second appetizer was the Ceviche Del Đia which is described as: Chef's fresh catch, pineapple chow-chow, avocado, radish, cilantro, fresh citrus & chips for $14. The fresh catch ended up being mahi-mahi. Sounds wonderful but the entire dish was sitting in the "fresh citrus" juice and it was so overpowering you couldn't even taste the fish itself. There were two small pieces of avocado throw on top and a few pieces of pineapple. It was meant to come with chips but we were only given one small bowl of chips that weren't the fresh made kind but looked like the bagged colored chips from the store. Our waiter finally arrived with the wine after about 15 minutes. He didn't present the bottle to us but kept the label facing toward himself. And was in the process of opening it when we stopped him to let him know he didn't have the right bottle. This is when he let us know that they didn't have the wine we ordered and this was the same quality which was not. We have had the Kessler before and the La Crema he was about the open was not the same as what we ordered nor was it listed on their menu. He tried to convince us that it was the same quality and when we stated that we didn't want it. His words were "well you won't be charge because I didn't open it yet" Excuse me we shouldn't be charge because we didn't order it and you knew you didn't have it in stock and instead of being up front and informing us you just said okay and brought us something else. And if we hadn't noticed you would have charge us the Kessler price for a cheaper bottle of wine. I have HUGE issue with that. HUGE! I have an issue with that because I have food allergies AND if you can swap out a bottle of wine for another because you don't want to let us know your out of it. What's to say you won't change the recipe up in the kitchen to make a dish because your out of something. After that we asked for the check to go. As we are closing out the tab our waiter comes over again and is trying to save face by blaming the restaurant and saying that they haven't had the wine for a while now. So you just admitted that you knew when we ordered you didn't have it and before when we questioned you about it you made it seem like it was just discovered it. So, out of the two appetizers I tried I wouldn't recommend this place. I'm not willing to give them another shot either if I can't trust what comes out of the kitchen. read more

Didn't get a photo of my Baja fish tacos because I inhaled them. Everything here was delicious from the drinks, to the fresh guac & the tacos! We also got the churros for dessert & im picky with them but they were good! Our server was so fun & we were able to walk in with 7 people & get a table no problem. Walked by yesterday and loved the ambience of the outdoor seating. Thought I would stop by today and try out the food. The bartender recommended the tostada. Since, this isn't your typical Mexican restaurant, I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. My Shrimp A La Diabla tostadas had plenty of guacamole with the shrimp placed on top. The shrimp is lightly bread which I'm not used to for al a Diabla, it was really good, and not too spicy, I prefer a little more heat. Overall, service was good, food was delicious, and plated very pretty! Now let's talk about the Paloma (drink), I drank it all. It was as delicious as it looked. If you are looking for true Mexican cuisine or even Tex mex style food this is NOT the place! Very disappointed, maybe come here for tequila drinks only. They were out of half of the tequila on the menu but did have a full bar. Started with the Queso Fundido which was basically string cheese melted with chorizo. In my opinion chorizo is spicy and flavorful this was not that, but was enough to have us grab the bill and leave. Yet another awesome restaurant at the JW Marriott in Savannah!  They have an excellent margarita menu, which offers other tasty tequila drinks, like a Paloma or sangria as well as many others. Their chips and salsa comes with a trio of different salsas, all made fresh in-house and very tasty and the chips were really good too. We enjoyed mixing up three tacos from their large taco menu... The fish is fried, but tasted pretty good.  The gringo taco is a hard shelled taco with ground beef - AWESOME!  And their Al Pastor was incredible! Olivia, our server was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!  She really was... She kept a frequent check on us, treated us like family and made great suggestions.  You'll definitely want to ask for her when dining with them. Is there rehab for taco lovers? Savannah's taco game is sooo good right now and I have to say -- and Savannah Tequila Co did not disappoint. The restaurant is located right in all the hustle and bustle of the Plant Riverside District and super easy to find as you're wandering around by the water. My friend and I sat down at the bar where we found a couple empty seats. I really enjoyed the friendly bartender and it was nice sitting next to some tourists and getting to hear about their plans while visiting Savannah. The tagline of the restaurant is "come for the tequila and stay for the tacos". But, I came for the tacos and would go back for the tequila. I started off my meal with a spicy margarita with jalapeno altos reposado, three pepper sugar syrup, orange liqueur and lime. It was delicious and the spice punches you just enough right in the back of the throat. Really good - if you're into that type of thing ;) Getting guac is a given - don't skip it! For my meal I shared tacos because I wanted to try more than just one of the menu options. I started with the chicken tinga tacos with queso fresco, poblano crema and pickled onions. Chicken tinga is a flavor that you don't typically get on tacos, but it was SO good. The chicken was super flavorful and moist. The other tacos we opted for were the pork carnitas tacos -- which were even better. They come with avocado salsa, chicharron, and tomatillo chow chow. Again, they were incredibly flavorful and did not last long on the plate. I love the soft taco shells too, they were just thick enough and held together nicely with all the meats and juices oozing out. As a Mexican food lover and tequila drinker, I highly recommend swinging by for some food and spirits next time your down by the river. read more

Visited there for first time this evening and sat outside to enjoy the river traffic. Had a great but small and overpriced cucumber margarita. The boys had enchiladas which were good with some unique flavors. I had the chicken salad that was supposed to be spicy chicken with mixed greens. Turned out to be the left over butts from a head of iceberg, a sprinkling of non-spiced chicken and no dressing. I would have complained but the server wasn't attentive until we were finished. I would go again because of location but I would just order an appetizer and tea. read more

The thing is i knew he was avoiding us, because honestly it was the manager serving us he informed us about the specials but we waiting so long to get greeted he got sassy with us when we already knew what we wanted and he had already gone over the specials. Like i love hearing the specials every server needs to go over the specials that helps with upselling 90% of the time when people are new to the area. The place is was pretty but it's like your basic Americanized Spanish cuisine. I just really didn't like that he went to the tables around us 3 different times and did not come once to our table. Absolutely no vodka, I think our waitress must have seen the face I made because she do you really want to immediately came over and asked how it was. I last visited this establishment on the afternoon of the 24th of this month which was Friday. One of my girlfriends was having a hard time due to the passing of her father and wanted me to join her at the bar. In the past, I've had great dining experiences. This was my first time being served at the bar and because of previous visits, I was looking forward to it. FAIL!!! this experience was far beneath my expectations. I unfortunately don't have the names of any of the bartenders however, the one who primarily was taking care of us was an African-American young lady with locs hair style. As beautiful as she was even without wearing make up, her attitude didn't match. She was kind to me for the most part, but she was very short with my friend, and that made me feel really bad. There was a guy working with her with long hair that was up in a ponytail. He was a Caucasian man with an average to stocky type build. I think he may have also had somewhat of a beard, but not really sure or it may have been stubble. This guy would not even allow me to be friendly with him and literally told me that there was no way I was going to get a smile out of him because that's typically not him. Well, how is that for Customer Service? Lately I have noticed that great customer service has literally gone to hell and I'm starting to feel like I'm the only one who still provides it. I'm sorry to report such a bad experience, but it was indeed a bad experience and I was shocked that it came out of this place. Believe me when I say that this review is not to end anyone's job/career however someone definitely needs a lesson in Hospitality. Again, I'm sorry for such a lengthy and bad review, but my feelings were really hurt and here it is two days later and it's still on my mind and I just had to say something. I pray that God will still bless this establishment with success and may he touch the hearts of those two people who I mentioned and give them some compassion, and if they already have compassion, I pray that they will allow it to show more. I'll also say this, they also need to realize that you never know who you may run into or who you may, serve that can take you to higher levels in your career. Another amazing evening in Savannah. The nachos add brisket and street corn were very satisfying. I do like a squeeze of lime on my corn. The manager seemed delighted to bring me an entire lime and this started a conversation with him about how we do it in Alabama, However, I learned it in Houston. We conversed and he seemed genuinely interested which led to a conversation about my favorite tequila they didn't shelf. We went on about Tequila and he poured me a complimentary shot of one of his favorites which was delicious. We sat at the bar and it was quite inviting. It's where I am comfortable. I stopped in for a very quick drink and app. Bartender was really friendly and interesting really enjoyed conversing with him as a tourist visiting Savannah for the first time he was very informative and gave me a lot of good info! He recommended the cucumber margarita and the quesadilla which I took his recommendation and ordered both! Unfortunately was in a bit of a hurry so did not stay for as long as I would've liked too, but boxed up the rest of the quesadilla and even gave me a togo drink for the walk back to my hotel. Not our first visit. Nice place for a group of friends. We were told that there was an hour wait for our party of 2. There were open tables everywhere inside, but reserved for large parties. There seems to be a common practice for inside seating to be "reserved" for a particular group of people each time we go. If you like a margarita or any kind of tequila drink, this is the spot to go! My husband and I were really impressed with all their options. The food was delicious too, although it was pretty pricey considering what and how much you get. But it's river walk prices, so keep that in mind. The atmosphere was lovely, a little modern and the music was a bit loud for a lunch service, but not overbearing. Our actual waitress wasn't attentive, I didn't even get her name. She forgot our silverware and my husband couldn't seem to get her attention to refill our waters or ask about a missing part of our order, and it took much too long to drop our check. The other server working with her seemed to do all the work! We wish we had him. We had an item missing and he said he'd go and find it for us. Brayden or Brandon was his name I think, excellent charisma and professionalism. He wasn't even our server but he spent some time chatting with us and getting everything we needed, while still taking care of other customers. He gave us great suggestions for other places to visit.
