In 2024, I hired SavATree for a one-time ash tree treatment and paid the invoice in full. I was never told I was enrolling in a recurring service, never signed a contract, and never knowingly agreed to future treatments. In June 2026, they treated my tree while I was at work without calling, texting, mailing, or otherwise confirming I wanted the service. I only found out after receiving a $400 invoice. When I contacted the office, I was told I had made a verbal agreement in 2024, which I dispute because no recurring service was ever explained to me. I also found a proposal email that I had never opened before the work was completed. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and notified my attorney. Please make sure you fully understand what you're agreeing to before using this company. read more

Their Tampa location was trimming my next door neighbors trees when I see the lift operator driving/turning tearing up my wet lawn leaving ruts 6" deep. I went outside to ask them to stop and operator/foreman refused to give me his name. I had to turn on my sprinklers to keep them from further damage. Save your time and avoid Savatree. I originally called them on 8/23/24 to ask for a quote to have some shrubs trimmed. They told me, "no problem, we'll have someone come out on 8/30 @ 1:30PM". Fast forward to 8/30 and the arborist shows up at 10:51AM without any advanced notice (they did not give a window previously, it was stated as 1:30PM). Thankfully I had decided not to go shopping in the morning, so I was home to meet him. The arborist himself was OK and seemed knowledgeable enough when asked questions. Since 8/30 was the Friday before Labor Day the arborist mentioned that the quote might take a few extra days due to the holiday. OK, no problem. Labor Day comes and goes and I patiently check my email daily. I'm not seeing any quotes and I'm worried I somehow missed it. I check my spam, deleted emails, etc., nothing from Savatree or the arborist. Finally 9/9 (a full week after Labor Day) and I still see nothing. The arborist gave me his card, so I sent an email asking about the status of my quote at the end of 9/9. Crickets. Nothing at all for another week. I finally got fed up and called a competitor and received a same day quote and service 2-days later. I never did hear back from Savatree. It's clear that they did not want my business which would have been fine had they just told me that. What I didn't appreciate is having my time wasted, and advise you to stay away as well. read more

We had a large fir tree in our backyard uproot partially during this recent winter storm. Within one day of calling SavATree, they came out and secured the tree by tying it off to two other healthy trees in our yard. Soon after they came out and took the tree down, which was amazing to watch. IF not for Nat and his team we could have been looking at six figures in home repair from the damage the tree would have done to our house. I am in a huge HOA in woodridge. I'm concerned about the lack of supervision of the tree trimmers. This year, they are going back and lopping off tree limbs from the exact same trees as last year. This past week I noticed to my complete horror that they lopped off 2 entire limbs from the perfectly beautiful tree that my back patio faces. No reasoning behind this whatsoever. Our management company,, MC Property, doesn't seem to care. this is a huge waste of our money here in the Association not to mention the damage to our beautiful trees, many of which are lopsided because of the damage being done by Sav-A-Tree over the years. 5-Stars!! Have an old Black Cherry with lots of dead limbs, in need of attention, on a downward slope near electrical lines that I never thought could be addressed due to its location. Santos and his team of Elam and Jose worked magic. They got all the dead limbs off! I never thought it even possible but they did it with the help of a great piece of equipment (portable cherry picker). I am anxious to see what the kelp feeding treatment will do for this tree too. It may yet have blooms on it again! I highly recommend this company, and am going to investigate their other organic lawns treatments. Really really happy with this service! read more

SavATree sprayed a tree (via a high pressure hose) on the border of two properties with no attention to safety or prior warning. I am the neighbor of the property being sprayed and my garden door, house, windows, raised bed, and path to garage received a direct soaking from an unknown chemical mix. This happened at 8:30 a.m. when I typically take my daughter to school. The family missed getting a direct spray to the face and eyes as we were walking out of the house only by chance. I had to shout at the SavATree arborist to get him to stop spraying where we were about to walk, which he was reluctant to do. This was not a case of pesticide drift, but instead someone not caring what and where he sprayed. He had no awareness of what the direct spray was hitting beyond the fence on the property he was servicing. He did not announce himself, shout out a warning, or contact us beforehand. Our vegetable garden was soaked with pesticides that we did not want - SavATree could have protected this area with a tarp, or done a basic check of the area before spraying indiscriminately. The SavATree arborist told me that it was my responsibility to contact his company with a request to be alerted about spraying (as if I have magical powers to predict the future). He told me that he would get in trouble if he looked over garden gates and fences before spraying. Only by calling the company repeatedly was I able to find out what chemicals were sprayed on our property (and very nearly on us). After four telephone calls to Northbrook office, I finally was able talk to someone about my complaint (managers had the receptionist pretend they were busy, promised callbacks "soon" that never happened, told voicemails had been left with me, etc.). Eventually, Ryan told me that he could not change what had happened but could put an alert on my neighbor's account. He did not seem to care that their business practices are unsafe and cavalier. He told me this was the first time he had heard of this type of problem and kept on calling me "buddy." He offered to send someone round in a week to wash the pesticide off out fruit and vegetables. Obvious that he and the arborist do not care. I was told by both that this was no different to having to wash fruit and vegetables purchased from the grocery store. We have used for several years. Kevin, the arborist, is terrific. Informative, knowledgeable, took time to answer all my many questions. When we had a concern/problem, he rectified it quickly and fully. We were ready to cut down a beloved crabapple tree that had been diseased for years, no matter what remedies we tried. Kevin suggested a 3 part treatment in the spring - my husband researched the chemicals used, as that is a major concern of ours, and decided they looked safe enough. The tree is now gorgeous and healthy. The crews that have done the trimming of both our large and small trees and shrubs have been very good, as has the office staff. Respond time is VERY long. Treatment result is not so good. If you are not a stay home mom, you have to contact them at your working time, because they do not work on Saturdays. The respond time of Savatree is VERY long. My ever green trees got disease. They are turning very brown very quickly. Since I already have a contract with Savatree, I called them a week ago. Nobody ever called back to schedule a treatment or estimate so far. I have a contract with Savatree, but now I have to call someone else to treat the trees. We also have a billing problem. One Invoice has been open for 40 days. The amount was wrong. I called and emailed about the over charged amount with the original contract attached showing the correct amount. Nobody called back or emailed revised payment link. It is just HARD to work with them. They charge $168 per regular treatment, but the result is no better than the previous supplier who charged only $79. One big tree they have been working on since this spring is now 75% dead. It has been sick for years, under the care of our previous supplier, it was okey. We understand trees may die, but Savatree did not mention anything to us. Very disappointed in how they butchered my beautiful white oak. It used to be very uniformly shaped until they cut off a larger branch on 1 side. They went silent on us--we didn't hear back from them. So we found and hired a different company, who sent us a written estimate and a place to sign and return as a contract. The other company came out March 12 and did a great job. Then SavATree came out four days later on March 16, when no one was home. Saw our freshly trimmed tree--and TRIMMED IT AGAIN?!? Now this tree looks terrible, we had an arborist come look at it and he said he would never have a tree trimmed like that. I have written SavATree a letter, should our tree die from the damage caused by their incompetent workers, we will bill them for dead tree removal, stump removal, and planting of a replacement tree. Also, SavATree charged MORE THAN DOUBLE the price of the other company. Also, forget customer service. I tried to talk to them on the phone about their never sending me a written quote or getting approval from me like the other professional company did, but no luck. Have used them for years and was always pleased. They really raised their prices for the same trimming. Figured everything gone up and again always liked their work so felt it was worth it. Was promised several times they would be out, called and called and finally they did, late afternoon. The foreman never showed up when the workers did so we had to walk them around. My one tree they wanted to cut it down where it was only suppose to be trimmed back. They did not agree so we said call him. Needless to say, they trimmed back as little as possible. When we asked about the other trees they said they couldn't because it was getting dark. Said they would return. No one came back. read more

SavATree and SavALawn are exceptional in their work. They are experts in lawn and tree health. In our case we have a lawn that never lasted through the heat of the summer. A large crab apple tree created a good deal of shade, the grass died under the tree. In the other areas, the grass just faded and thinned. By mid August, it looked just awful. With their present management, the lawn stays thick and green all summer. Should I have a question, they are immediately responsive. Their care of my trees has also been superior. They saved a large wonderful tree that was a step away from being removed. Today it has had a great rebirth, and shows a huge umbrella of green shade. My Crab is more than 25 years old, and looks better than ever. In short, they are, in my mind and experience, just terrific. I am pleased to recommend them read more

He was very knowledgeable. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE - DENVER OFFICE Called on June 10th to schedule a tree check. They said they were 2 weeks out and that someone would call me back to schedule. Fine. Two weeks later no one has called to schedule so I call to see what's up. Leave a message. They call back to say that they are scheduling 2 weeks out. I call back and speak with someone and explain that I already called on the 10th and my visit should be this week. They had me in as just calling today but after looking into it they found I had called on the 10th. Scheduler will call back. Christina in Denver office called my back and we spoke. She again explained they were scheduling two weeks out. I again explained that I had called two weeks earlier but no one called back to schedule. Her response: "Well we have had lots of tree damage and we need to put our existing customers first so we can't come out for two weeks." When asked if I would like schedule I replied no because I don't care to deal with a company that has bad customer service. I started out with Swingle Tree Services which at one time was one of the top tree services here in Denver. I signed up for the lawn care, which though was pricey,because it was Swingle, I was alright about paying. Then Swingle merged or was bought by this out of town outfit, "Savatree", and trying to get a hold of someone over the phone is useless, even to pay a bill! The arborist was very knowledgeable but I need to have a more reliable company as Swingle used to be so next year, I am going with a different experience. read more

I will absolutely never recommend Savatree to anyone ever. My entire experience was so below expectations for paying over $1,000 for holiday decor. I found broken lightbulbs all over our yard and I am still finding lightbulbs in our raised beds. The people who installed had never seen gutter guards like ours before, so their solution was to just break them to get the lights up. I wish I had been told from the beginning that our gutter guards make it hard for the light install so I could have aborted mission. This whole experience was trash for something that's supposedly a luxury. The only thing that somewhat makes up for it is Joe, the operations manager. Joe has been pleasant to deal with, has admitted fault and paid for my gutter guards to be repaired. However, to have me pay for the whole service is actual trash. I rarely post reviews, but am doing so regarding SavATree because of their phenomenal work and service in trimming/cutting the large tree in our backyard. Kevin came out, punctually so, to view what needed to be done and give an estimate. He gave a reasonable estimate money wise. He also indicated he would contact me via email in two weeks about a date to do the work, with the email coming approximately 1 week before the anticipated work date. That's exactly what happened. Their trimming guys, with Kevin along for the introduction, showed up slightly ahead of the scheduled time this morning, did the work to perfection and thoroughly cleaned up afterward. I contacted 4 other such services, including via Angi's List. Two did not return my initial call. The other two surely noted our address and gave excessive estimates. One of those two did not show up when he was scheduled, and dropped by because "I am in the area" a few days later. These guys are the ones you want to use for any tree and/or shrub work! read more

We called SavATree, and several other companies, to get an estimate for the removal of a dead tree. A big part of the tree had broken off during a wind storm, and was resting on wires between ours and the neighbor's property. SavATree came out, surveyed the damages and provided our neighbor with a reasonable estimate. Although she went with another company, I am sure, given SavATree's professionalism, they would have done a great job. read more
