Save A Dog is truly the best thing that ever happened to me. I filled out an application online in October 2017 (Recommend doing this before you go for a meet and greet) and I decided to go to a meet and greet to me the couple dogs I was interested in. This was my first time adopting so I wasn't 100% sure what to expect and it was busy the day I went. Everything was very organized and the woman up at the front was lovely and so was everyone that I spoke with up until it was my turn to meet the dogs. They brought the first little guy out (Humphrey who I adopted) and I immediately knew he was the pup for me. He was spunky but I could also tell he was confused and a little unsure. They went over in depth about how he resource guards over food, and I have quite a bit of experience with training a dog out of that behavior. They also went over how he was missing a couple teeth but his health check was clear. After I met Humphrey I told them I was 100% interested in adopting him. The holistic approach was already something I was planning to follow for any dog I was planning to adopt, so the fact that this was a holistic shelter was the icing on the cake! Shirley the owner talks with every potential adopter and she was absolutely lovely. Since then I if I have any questions or concerns regarding anything, I email her and she gets back super quickly. 7 1/2 months later Humphrey has blossomed more the I ever could of imagined and he is truly the light of my life and very trainable. Save a Dog would be the first shelter I would look to for another rescue! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, -Naomi & Humphrey

Ok if another kitten is in the house

Some pro and some con My brother got his dog from here it worked out well , she is the sweetest dog I've ever met and I'm glad he found her there. No problems there. I didn't however have a good experience trying to adopt a kitten. I put in an application, got all of my references to email them, and thenI got to the point where they asked me to come in and that I could potentially take the kitten home that day, they where very eager to get everything set up for the next day visit then they cancel at the last min citing a health issue and they would keep me in the loop , they did not , and I asked if they could lmk if other kittens cams in , they did not and now when I inquired on one my qualifications are no longer acceptable for some reason. They require the kittens to be in pairs or there to be another kitten at home, I have a visiting kitten that comes over pretty much every day if not every day some weeks and I cat sit often , that was acceptable originally, for some reason it's not anymore, my problem isn't that it changed, my problem is that they are not upfront about it. They keep saying oh no this cat had a different policy but that's a lie i found the original add

It was clear to me that they really know each of their cats and care for them very well--they took the time to get to know me and understand what I was looking for, and suggested a cat who seemed like the perfect fit. They both were eager to answer all of my many questions throughout the process and even helped me out by dropping my new kitty off since I don't have a car. My girl had a few minor health issues after arriving (most likely due to the stress of moving/change in food) and Susan offered me advice about different things I could try and followed up numerous times to make sure she was settling in okay. The process overall couldn't have been any smoother and I am so appreciative of Guardian Angels and the care and diligence they put into finding good homes for all of their cats. If I ever decide to adopt another cat I'll definitely work with them again.

All have vet visits, great food, and most importantly, attention and caring to help their transition from whatever their previous situation was. The fostering process is great at getting the cats ready for their new homes. If you're looking for a cat, I suggest Guardian Angels without reservation!

In December, the shelter's president, Taline, proactively reached out to ask if we could foster a cat again. At first, due to an uncertain schedule, we replied that we couldn't commit yet. About a week later, once our environment was confirmed suitable, we immediately contacted Taline with our availability, preferred cat types, and other preferences. Taline responded promptly, promising to review the list of cats needing help that week and get back to us. Over ten days passed with no response, despite our reminders. Assuming she was busy, we reached out via The Cat Connection's Slack channel under another volunteer applicant's name at the beginning of this week. Taline replied the next day, again promising to schedule a discussion this week. This week almost passed, and despite private messages and follow-ups, she ghosted us again. Six days ago, we posted a follow-up in the channel regarding fostering. Only then did Taline reply, claiming, "This channel is for announcements and statements to all members." This explanation contradicts prior posts by others requesting volunteer or other opportunities. When we asked again about scheduling a discussion, she ghosted once more. It became clear that she was not too busy to respond - she simply chose to ignore us. I guess she thought volunteers in her opinion were just someone to grab when she needed them. We want to stress that as the shelter's president, Taline's commitments carry weight. Repeatedly making promises and disappearing is disrespectful and unprofessional. Others' time and effort are valuable, and communication - whether to express concerns or provide simple updates - is essential. We hope that in her role, Taline can honor her commitments and respect the time and dedication of volunteers, rather than repeatedly making promises she has no intention of keeping.

We are all volunteers and we work our hearts out for these cats and kittens. At sometimes it may be difficult to reach us, but we're running as fast as we can. I've seen comments that we don't care about the cats that are out there on the streets, but we have fantastic people helping with that one of them being Nadia. Please have patience while we work to take care of all these fur babies .
