On my way home from Chico, called Katie and asked if she could pick up a package of frozen black eye peas. She was busy prepping dinner. So, I looked up grocery stores in Marysville on Yelp. Save Mart seemed like a significant name in grocery, so I called. The customer service desk phone rang & rang. No answer, got automatically returned to main phone message listing departments and associated numbers. Took ten minutes and a few calls to get someone. They could had to ask a co-worker if they carried the BEP, found out they do, but said they were slammed and couldn't check. I found them as soon as I walked to the frozen veggie aisle. I picked up a few more things, walked right up to the register and was paid up and out in a hurry. Must have hit a lull. Everyone was friendly and chatty. Clean store, fresh veggies. Our ( husband, baby & myself) first time inside, Save Mart, we thought the carts were inside. So my husband went out the left door, the alarm went off, he backed up, went to the other door, he alarm went off again. He came inside with a cart. An older man, employee ( looks like he's wearing those disguise glasses with a mustache ), followed us around taking pictures. We get up the checkout line and the two ladies clerks, starring at us. We were about to walk out, the older lady w/ the RBF said to the younger...' he's okay.. and started giggling'. My husband said, the guy following us around, should be less suspicious and it looked like he was taking pictures of our baby. I hope he deletes those pictures. read more

I often shop in Marysville and Yuba City, various stores all over town and have done so for about the past four years. Went into the store today to check it out and right inside the entrance was the bakery and they had bagels. They look delicious and I bought a pizza looking bagel that was covered with cheese and some little pepperonis on it and had a cheese skirt that was crispy around the outside of it. It was magnificent. I had never been there before I wanted to pick up 10 to 12 items but every single thing in their beautiful store was so expensive So here I am with an entire grocery cart with a very small paper bag with one amazing looking bagel inside it with a cheese skirt with nothing else in it because I could not afford to spend my money there. So I want to check out with my one bagel with the cheese skirt on it with an entire shopping cart and it was $1.29 I don't know how that was possible. I almost skipped out the door with my huge bagel, once again with a cheese skirt on the bagel and came home and I live in grass Valley about 45 minute drive. I ate the cheese skirt, I just broke pieces off and ate them like crunchy cheese chips. I have no words. I've sliced the bagel in half and I put the best part, the top which was covered with the cheese in the little pepperonis in the toaster And made it a little bit brown and I had some homemade super awesome jalapeño cream cheese spread that I made. I'm only writing this for a review because for $1.29, they are giving them away for free and they are magnificent. What I made it home with that one bagel I bought was incredible. I hope you folks get an opportunity to give it a try. I was very impressed at the quality and freshness. My husband and I went there to do our weekly grocery shopping for the first time everything was totally fine store is super clean and has good prices on some products! But their costumer services has to be the worst we ever had ..I had about 250$ worth of groceries and as I was putting stuff on the counter I see another costumer behind me with just one item so I tell him to go ahead and pay before me .. the cashier on shift Criket? I think that was her name yells at him really loud and says DID YOU CUT OFF THE LINE??? He says no they let me pay (super nervous) this woman is really intimidating and won't hesitate to raise her voice at you and treat you like you are getting your stuff for free .. then as I go and pay I noticed she starts to throw my stuff hard as if she was mad I didn't say anything then she asks for my and ID and my husband who was paying gives her his ID she then yells and points at me I NEED HERS!!!! I check my wallet and I don't have it on me (I don't drink) My husband tries to explain her the 2 drinks are not for me she continues to yell and yell very loud to the point I was embarrassed because other costumers were looking now .. she then brags about her having training on costumer services and how she has the power to refuse costumer service if she wants to ? I told her look the problem is no the alcohol we will put it back is not big deal is the way you are treating us .. then the manager comes his name is Chip .. he didn't want to talk to us at first but then he does and was totally taking her side without showing and interest in hearing us . I tried to purchase a cake at their bakery and was ignored. Made eye contact, smiled, nada. I had grabbed a cart to get a few other things but decided against it due to being completely blown off. Went to put the cart away because I'm not a monster lol and I guess it won't let you if you don't go through the check stand? So I abandoned it. I don't know what to say. They have the GRUMPIEST cashiers, have yet to see one break a smile. Fruits/veggies and forget the desert's ordering or asking for anything in the show case FAIL. Their standards have slipped, today was the 6th time in past three months I went in for a deli sandwich and was given a cold shoulder. The employees look at you standing there waiting, and then proceed to help other people who walk up after you. If your deli employees hate making fresh sandwiches so much that they insist on ignoring your customers trying to get them, then either stop making that an option or train your people better. I will just go to Bel-Air for my deli sandwiches now, as atleast they know how to treat someone. read more

I enjoy shopping here because I know where everything is and the employees are nice, polite, helpful. Well, maybe not ALL of them. One guy looks angry all the time (register), but he isn't rude. Just not friendly. I haven't given 5 stars because they run out of certain brands often, replaced with some unheard of item shipped in from Mexico. And sometimes they get the bright (not) idea to switch things around so where something once was is now somewhere else. But, it's all doable in the grand scheme of things. I've been shopping here for over 30 years because its convenient. What's what? Deli/bakery dept: Covid caused personnel shortages and continuous turnover in the last year resulting is poor service but seems to be under control now. Small hot food selection but best fried chicken tenders/fried chicken in the area. Most of the time you can also get some baked chicken pieces too. besides chicken only other hot item is potato wedges. Single purchase Bolillo rolls which are great to have on hand. Good selection of cold premade deli items like pasta salads/potato salads etc. I especially like the san francisco style potato salad and lemon fettucine. Lunchmeat is average quality. I was never impressed with the cleanliness of the sandwich area and so never order a sandwich here. Tiny morning offering of bagels and donuts etc, but bagels are only fair. Meat Dept: Tasty seafood salad at the meat counter, good selection of shrimp and other seafood along with slab bacon etc. But, I don't buy beef here cause its not graded and looks to be low grade or "Select" with little marbling etc. The clerks don't seem to know always know how fresh the fish is at the counter. Produce dept and shelf items are well maintained. Beer aisle needs help as the single purchase items are spread thru several cases and the selection is fairly meager. After talking to the store mgr and clerks they always blame this on the vendors... Only store I know of that has no hand baskets available, they tell me they all get stolen so don't have them anymore. No self checkout here and so sometimes the lines get you standing in the isle waiting. read more

I ordered a customized round birthday cake for my son. He wanted Mario. The website gave me the option to choose so. My boyfriend called them the morning of pick up. The lady then said that she couldn't decorate it how I ordered it because the cake was too small. When we picked up the cake, they didn't include the kit (Mario and Luigi driving carts) but yet still charged us full price for a cake with the kit. The manager apologized, but they still didn't give us a refund. I didn't expect a full refund just the difference between the Mario kit cake and a regular birthday cake. That's $10 but $10 is $10 but it sure does come in handy during today's economy. They should've called us to inform us first. I usually always go to them for birthday cakes. LOVE the local hometown market! I think they have a great variety of local California brands - from local produce (fruits/vegs/nuts), organic goods, and dairy. Good alcohol variety. Baked goods are fresh, same for deli. For being a smaller supermarket, I'm impressed. Cons: lines can get long - attention to long lines is needed so they never get that way. Too many homeless people loitering near the entrance - I go elsewhere if I see this. The water dispenser there should be removed since it's been broken into so many times - makes the store look junky and UNSAFE. Care should be taken to make the outside inviting, so cleaning up fallen vegetation and pressure washing the sidewalks should be a priority. Note: So many things need attention in Marysville so I'm not picking on SaveMart; it's a weekly trip for me. read more

I love everything about this store except the chubby middle-aged cashier, Cathy. She's the rudest cashier I've ever met in my life. She literally stands there with her light off & only lets people in her line if she feels like it. If I can manage to avoid her, I always have a pleasant experience. My kids love Chip! I finally went into town and shopped at a nicer grocery store and I definitely was not disappointed. The parking lot was huge and spacious which made it easily accessible. A staff member sanitized a shopping cart for me to use upon entering the store. The aisles were clean and spotless and everything was clearly labeled which made items easier to find for me. I did not have to wait long to check out and the prices were fair and reasonable. I will definitely be back here for my further shopping needs! read more

The remodel is so nice!! This is my go to grocery store, despite being not the closest one to my house and higher prices than somewhere like Walmart or Winco. They do have food sales though often through their ad or on the app. There are two main reasons this is my go to: 1- they always have a great selection of everything, along with a great deli and meat department, 2- the customer service is fantastic.. it's the sort of small grocery store you can go to and aways see the same employees and they remember toy. read more

During this COVID shutdown I have been shopping at SaveMart a lot as its smaller and easier to get in and out quickly. However, on April 24th I went in as usual with my bags. I was stopped at the door and told i couldn't bring in my bags. So I assumed the bags would be free at the register. NOPE. When I said this wasn't right they told me to talk to the Yuba County Health Dept as that is who told them they had to establish this policy. Meanwhile other stores such as Raleys and Grocery Outlet are giving the bags to customers for free. Walmart still allows you to bring in your bags as does Winco. SaveMart, way to take advantage of your customers during a hardship. read more

I always come here because in my opinion it's the nicest grocery store in marysville. The produce selection is maintained very well and it's a clean store. The only thing that bugs me and sets this store apart from my other favorite, Belair, is the staff. The staff at check out is always so unfriendly! I never even get a "hello how's your day". My husband and I are regulairs here and we pop in at least once a day. The cashier's are always kind and knowledgeable and the store is clean with great weekly specials. The only drawback is they say there are no public restrooms, but upon asking the clerk kindly directed me towards the back of the store into the stock room. There the bathroom was clean and stocked. The bakery is a bit steep as with most in store bakeries. I asked for sliced ham at the deli yesterday. The worker had been spraying chemicals and cleaning with a dirty rag. She didn't have gloves on. When I ordered ham she grabbed the ham with her dirty hands and then put gloves on but never washed her hands. I threw the ham away when I got home. Clean store, with friendly employees. Living in Marysville, I don't always like the limited amount of grocery stores that are on this side of the river. While Save Mart can be a bit over priced, in some areas, other areas have some great steals. Their meat and seafood selection has a nice variety. I purchased some seafood a few weeks ago and appreciated that the cashier/bagger offered me a free paper bag for the seafood - he said that he did not want the rest of my items to smell like seafood. There is also a nice deli and small bakery selection, offering your typical deli/bakery type items. I was really impressed, yesterday, that the guy behind the deli counter asked my son "how old are you now?" My son replied 15 and the employee said that he remembered when I was pregnant with my son. He remembered me from the former Yuba City store and said that once that store shut down, he was able to transfer to the Marysville location. Another long term employee, Danny, also told me several years ago that he was glad to be working a holiday because it meant extra pay for him and he liked helping people out. All the employees seem well taken care of, by management, and it shows in their stellar customer service. read more
