We were looking to do some construction for our condominium community and initially met with Tomas which was an absolute pleasure to speak to until he just disappeared. We had an initial quote and proposal and initially there was great communication and back and forth of plans pending our Board Approval, but as soon as we received approval to start the project, this company ghosted us. After months of taking bids and wanting to move forward with this company, they just flaked on us and now the HOA board has to go through another vigorous process to find another contractor to take on the project. Although this company quoted us the best rate, they obviously didn't care about our business because no one followed up with a call returned any of our calls, texts, and emails. When I initially reached out, Irving was quick to respond through Yelp. Based on my measurements, he gave me a rough estimate which held true throughout the entire process. This being a first home, I was particularly sensitive to budget & quality, which is hard to find as one usually compromises the other. Additionally, responsiveness to my questions is very critical before I decide on a vendor. Irving and his team checked all 3 boxes being cost-effective, high on quality and craftsmanship, and very responsive. Over the course of this project, I would use Yelp messages, text messages, email, and telephone calls to coordinate with Irving and his team. Make no mistake, there were snags along the way. Save-On Construction really lived up to its name. I had several estimates, and this Save-On is one of the most reasonably priced estimate. I wanted my bathroom remodeled, and Irving gave a reasonable price to almost all of what I wanted in the bathroom, see pictures. My wife is happy with the bathroom, and you know the saying, Happy Wife, Happy Life. First of all, Irving is very professional with superb customer service. He is very responsive from giving a quote, to making a deal, to finishing the bathroom. Any problems, questions, inquiries that I have, Irving made sure to answer it in a very timely manner. Before calling the bathroom remodel done, Irving made sure that we are happy, and that the work is up to our standard, not their standard. Irving even said, "The only standard that matters is yours." This made me sure that he takes pride with his work! In addition, Irving will help you with an excellent deal. As a customer, I also have to be reasonable to what I am asking and what I want in the budget that I am willing to spend. I cannot ask for T-bone steak if I can only pay for a burger patty. I will add my experience with this contractor. He is no professional base on the way he contacts his business. I am a licensed contractor myself though not in the same trade of business but I have many years of experience and know what I'm doing when I did have my own business I NEVER did anyone wrong in 14 years. I'm not cocky nor do I think I know it all like this contractor. He was contacted without my knowledge nor anyone in the family. To make a long story short, he took $45,000 as a deposit for ADU and never returned to do any of the work. Don't waste your time I wouldn't trust him base on his conduct. A week or two after moving into our new home together, my wife and I discovered that our roof leaked. Badly. I always get multiple estimates, so I spent weeks researching companies and having contractors come out, all the while with buckets in the attic. Irving was the first company to respond. He showed up super fast. He's professional, courteous, and friendly. He's also just a genuine guy. You don't get that with many contractors. Save-On's estimate was the best we received out of 7 or 8 companies. I don't always go with the lowest bid automatically, because sometimes I think you get what you pay for. In this case the quality of the work proves to me that I made the right choice. I can't say enough good things about Irving. He takes a personal ownership in his business. He came back multiple times, even spending almost a whole day at our house with the super picky insurance adjuster, after just having recovered from pneumonia! Who does that? The guy works super hard to make sure you have a good experience. There were some road bumps along the way, but nothing to do with Save-On. It was mostly vendors. When I assumed the dumpster vendor wouldn't care if I put some extra wood and piping in the dumpster, they ended up being jerks and not taking it. Irving didn't know I was going to do that, but he and his crew got rid of it all for me. He didn't have to do that. Irving was super responsive to all my questions, always got back to me right away, and took care of any concern I had. He even walked the property himself at the end, cleaning up our yard. He more than made up for any snags that happened along the way (which is going to happen in any construction job). He went above and beyond for us. He really gets customer service, and that is super rare in a contractor. We now no longer have a cracked, leaky tile roof problem literally hanging over our heads. Irving with Save-On Construction is hands down the most professional and honest contractor I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with! I was about to sell my house, and concerned that my roof might need replacing. Since this is a big ticket item, and it came to my attention that additions done to my home prior to purchase 5 years ago did not include roofing, I thought I was going to be in big trouble. Boy was I mistaken! Irving was not only the fastest contractor to show up, he was the only contractor who actually walked the entire surface of my roof and documented everything for me, including the attic! Irving then gave me the incredibly good news that my roof did not even need to be repaired, let alone replaced! He was more than happy to provide me with a comprehensive report and supporting documentation, including photographs for my seller's due diligence. Now, when was the last time you received a thorough and detailed estimate from a contractor, which included a $0.00 dollar amount?! I'm telling you, this guy is the cream of the crop. I almost wish my roof DID need to be replaced so that I could have spent more time with him, haha. As an incidental, we went ahead and asked for an estimate of cost for the roof replacement, in the event we decided to go ahead and offer my listing as advertised with an entirely new roof. We were very impressed by the great feedback for Irving & Save-On and contacted him to hopefully replace all our windows and paint the house's exterior. These upgrades have been overdue for a very long time because it is difficult to afford projects like this. We read about many companies but were very optimistic given all the yelp comments about great service and fair pricing and were excited to hire Save-On. It took quite awhile to finally get an appt with Irving but he was very personable and we were hopeful after the meeting. He did make comments about being a little more expensive than other companies but we didn't worry about it, until we finally received his quote a week later (not 48 hrs). It was VERY surprising but not in a good way. He was so far above our budget, definitely the highest quote we received, and it wasn't even for name brand windows. We really wanted to hire Save-On and were disappointed. But we are extremely thankful to have found a wonderful contractor. They just installed our 20 windows PLUS a sliding door for 40% less than Irving quoted (see my other reviews for more info). As for the exterior paint, he quoted almost 3X what our neighbors paid last month so we will be hiring their contractor. Bottom line, it's critical to get SEVERAL quotes before choosing a contractor. read more

I bought a new house that needed some TLC. We did interior and exterior paint, changed out the windows to dual-pane (high efficiency), and changed out the old wood shake roof for Owens Corning cool roof. I wanted to select a company that would be able to handle it all at once instead of dealing with several different contractors. I was pleased with the work, and I took advantage of their in-house financing. No Interest for 12 months. Definitely recommend. In addition, very professional from start to finish. I used save-on for my kitchen and bath remodel. I met with a few contractors. The guy that came out to the house just made it super simple and didn't make me feel dumb like some of the others. The pricing was good. Not the cheapest and not the most expensive. On the lower end of the spectrum though. The project went smoothly. I liked that throughout the project I had someone I could call and ask questions to who wasn't just a construction guy. Made it a lot easier for me and my wife. When they were done and gone we had an issue with one of three lights. They came out and fixed it though the next day. I was disqualified from going solar from one of the major solar companies. One morning a young man knocked on my door and asked me how much I was paying for my electric bill. I didn't really want to deal with it at the time so I told him to come back next week at the same time and I would give him 5 mins of my time. To my surprise he showed up the following week. I set up an appointment to meet one of the consultants. Thomas came by the next day and we decided it was time to move forward. The entire process took 3 weeks. The only negative was that I lost power for approximately 45 mins when they changed out my electrical box for a new one. I wasn't warned about this until 15 mins before it happened. They use really high end panels and not those cheap Chinese made ones. I have an appointment to have them take a look at my vacation house in big bear next week. Will keep you posted. read more

This review is long overdue. We had a lengthy project (ADU build) that we started around Jun 2019. After speaking with several contractors and obtaining bids, we decided to go with Irving and Save-On because of his professionalism, prompt responses, and objective feedback on questions we had. He never seemed to pressure us - we definitely felt pressured by others during the bid process - and all I can say is, I am so happy that we decided to go with Irving and trust our instincts. Reno projects can be a nightmare and overwhelming (we've previously done kitchen and bathroom remodels, flooring, paint jobs, etc.) but when you add in personal life/health issues, it becomes down right impossible to deal with. I feel tremendous gratitude to this day towards Irving, because he made the project run as seamlessly as possible during a really hard time in my husband and my life. Finding a good construction company is almost as hard as finding a good used car salesman. Not many of them are out there. I received various bids to perform work around my house. The only hiccup I had was there was some unforeseen wood rot and it had to be replaced. This additional work made the original price go up a bit. I guess it happens something.
