Waitress was incredibly rude. We were told the tapas came with three and when she dropped them off she said and i quote "We're busy tonight so I guess you only get two". After I drank too much and fell off the roof at the reels my mom brought me here for some Sunday brunch to try and cheer me up. Spent another weekend in Wilmington and visited this favorite. Had lunch early on a Saturday and didn't regret it. The chicken tinga tacos were great even without the sauce (I opted not to have it). My date had gatos tacos and I had the drum roll please tacos which were so tasty. The portions are filling and great for the price. We loved the adult bevvies... Savorez was outstanding. I am not a "foodie," and I think some restaurants try too hard combining items in a dish just to sound exotic or to impress. Robin and my sister, who both have more sophisticated palates than I, found every dish exceptional. They shared the BLT arepas, SWEET POTATO-GOAT CHEESE "GUACAMOLE", and each had the lobster ceviche. I had a scallop dish served with coconut rice on top of a black bean puree topped with a bacon jam that was outstanding as well. Normally, this is the type of dish that I would stay away from as I would think that the chef was trying too hard, but the combination of flavors was great. Maybe there is still hope for me, lol. Wow...my first trip to Savorez included just drinks and apps - which were delicious - but I simply didn't know what I was missing out on with their entrees. I believe I saw one example of each plated option being delivered to another diner during my meal & can truly say the attention given to this aspect speaks volumes. As they say, we eat with our eyes first...and every plate made me want to try that dish next time! The Lobster Ceviche is a flavor combo I always gravitate towards for ceviches. Lime, coconut, cilantro...what's not to love?! Though the dish had more liquid than was ideal when eating with chips, the small lobster abs avocado pieces were scoop-able and sufficient in quantity for a lite bite pre meal. Given all the other appetizer options, I'd likely t dry others before I'd order it again, but it was definitely a flavorful and well prepared dish. I tried the shrimp & grits as my entree and it exceeded my expectations. The grits were prepared with goat cheese which gave them a wonderfully light and fluffy texture and a fabulous depth of flavor that reminded me why grits can be a staple...they were far more than a side in this dish. The black beans and chorizo gravy were a lovely compliment for the pan seared shrimp and brought fabulous elements of savory + spice that took this dish up a notch. I'll admit, im not shrimp and grits expert being from the Midwest but I am always game to try one when the pairings sounds intriguing. This one absolutely was a great choice and I would order it again on future visits. But really, there are so many other wonderful dishes to try as well! Despite the small space we didn't have to wait longer than we were told upon arrival and had wonderful attentive servers throughout our dining experience. Our entire dining experience was fantastic. We started with sweet potato guacamole and seared tuna tostadas as our wonderful waitress recommended. We ordered from the regular menu, though the specials looked amazing. We had the Caliente Tuna and Carne Con Ancho. Savorez may be slightly out of the main commotion of Downtown Wilmington but their menu and quality makes it worth the walk! The building only seats groups up to four comfortably with a make capacity of 30 guests seated between the table and bar area. We ordered the Salsa Sampler which includes Salsa Fresca, Salsa Verde, and Pineapple Salsa. Each salsa had a unique flavor which made the sampler a great way to start the meal! The Caliente Tuna Taco contained enough spice and enough fresh ingredients to make even a mild heat lover happy! A meal can never be complete without dessert and Savorez gurantees it will not be disappointing with the wonderful quality and taste contained in their Coconut Lime Creme Brulee. My adventure companion cannot stand coconut but even he loved the creme brulee! As with anything in Downtown Wilmington, parking can be a challenge so be prepared to walk when looking to enjoy a meal at Savorez. During our stay, the music included a few favorites from the 1990's, however, not all of this music is ideal for dinning conditions so please be cautious if you're bringing little ears (small children). read more

I have mentioned wanting to try Savorez several times to my girlfriends when I finally had the opportunity on Halloween. A few friends and I attended an Official Yelp Event (OYE) and had an absolute ball. It is tough to pinpoint what I loved the most so I am going to hit a few highlights. I should first tell you that this was an event where food was prepared and ready for us upon arrival. We could, however, also make selections from a limited menu. We couldn't get enough of the deliciousness so we of course ordered from that menu as well. Some of the standouts for me upon arrival were the smoked tuna and goat cheese empanada (there were four types being served and my friends each swore by a different empanada. One gushed over the picadillo and Oaxaca, while the other devoured the chicken one.) Each empanada had a different sauce. The sauce for the tuna one was a thick and dark with a delicious kick. I also loved the simple, yet delightful guacamole and salsa fresca. Another star was the seared tuna tostadas. I can't describe how yummy it tasted Let me move on to the limited menu that we each decided to order one thing from... One of my friends ordered the Sancocho, while another ordered the Langousta y Coco, while I ordered the BLT Arepa. The Sancocho is a chicken dish served with carrots, corn, sweet potatoes, yucca, plantains and cilantro. It was pretty yummy. The Langousta was out of this world! It is a lobster Ceviche in a coconut ginger marinade with avocado, red bell, red onion and cilantro. Absolutely amazing! Finally on to my meal: the BLT Arepa . The BLT arepa was a crispy corn cake layered with bacon jam, fresh tomato, avocado, balsamic glaze, and cilantro oil. I hope you caught the part where I said there was BACON Jam within my meal. I can't describe the dance my taste buds were doing when I ate it. It was SO good. The balsamic glaze and cilantro oil were excellent as well. I wanted to lick my plate but refrained. We each had a drink and they were fabulous tasting! My friend and I had the El skeleto. It was a grapefruit juice concoction and absolutely delicious! We had an excellent experience at Savorez. I highly recommend it for anyone. They have food on their menu that could satisfy any palette. I sincerely mean that and would love to know what you have when you go! read more
