When our pipes froze during the big storm this January (thankfully, without water in them), we decided to hire Plumbums again. That didn't go as well. Quality of work: The fixes Jim suggested (a series of individual junction fixes) seemed reasonable for the repairs needed, but in some cases replacing whole sections would have been more time- and cost-efficient (according to other plumbers we've had in our home who have seen the work done). And we needed four return visits within our first three days living in the house to address issues that had not been resolved or that popped up as soon as we turned systems on. One problem (heat running constantly on our first floor, making the house over 80 degrees in the winter) was unresolved until I researched possible causes myself and communicated that to Jim, who sent out one of his guys to implement the fix. Professionalism: We were frustrated by the lack of care shown toward our property. Jim's guys left plumbing debris (not just the stuff our homeowner's insurance requested, but just straight-up trash), food trash, and drywall dust in our basement and living areas. This means that the first thing we had to do after driving 3,200 miles to move in was clean up after them. Drywall was removed roughly in several locations, and although patching was not included in the estimate, the cuts themselves appeared unnecessarily sloppy (and our new plumber neatly cuts and replaces drywall as a matter of course, leaving the mudding to us, which is fine). Plumbums did work well with our insurance company to get our claim handled, and ultimately we have working plumbing. But our experience wasn't great.

Well, he was not really rude, but he went off on how they were working and working "every day of the week " and he had seen the guy who came out to the house working on estimate and again they never had a day off all they did was work.. and etc. Since I was a potential customer (for a very expensive job) I was just taken aback at complaints about too much work when there are millions out of work. I remember thinking that he should hire more people! Also to bitch to a potential customer?? Bad business practice. I decided to wait until they called me as I had called back twice. After all, I then said (to myself) that I'm not going to chase someone so I can give you tons of money. I never got a quote or was contacted.

Bob Laudette, owner of James Carboni Plumbing and Heating…read morefor over 33 years, was negligent in fulfilling his contract upon the installation of the furnace on December 3, 2019.  "ALL WORK WILL BE PERFORMED IN A NEAT AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER AND WILL MEET OR EXCEED ALL STATE AND LOCAL CODES."   Obviously he did not inspect the installation of the project on December 3 or he was not up to date on building codes.  The building inspector gave him 3 citations for code violations.The chimney clean out door was cemented ..a potential fire hazard. Contrary to Bob Laudette's explanation, the chimney was serviced prior to installation and given a stamp of approval!  The oil line was not protected properly and would cause a major oil leak if someone tripped over it and dislodged it; the duct work/ bonnet was installed with major gaps heating the basement to over 90 degrees. Besides the citations for code violations, Bob Laudette has ignored issues with the furnace and units: combustion issues with small explosions, malfunctioning humidifier, blower so powerful it rattles doors, oil leaks, filters to keep the blower working properly and to insure quality of inside air malfunctioning, extensive dust, uniform distribution of heat is deplorable with the basement heated at 90 degrees and the upstairs rooms are cold. All this for $7500? Now Bob Laudette wants to come and service the new furnace three months later after he ignored numerous calls in January and in fact cancelled a service call. At that point, I had to call reputable and licensed contractors to check out the furnace but the problems still persist. I contacted other agencies for help.  Consumer Protection who has limited authority suggested I pursue legal representation.  My mother, Amelia Wakely, expected and paid for what she thought was an up to date working oil furnace. Why would anyone keep a lemon; deal with a company who fails to treat a client in a professional manner or not at all; who does substandard work and delivers a defective product and writes they have a great business ethic!  Could Bob Laudette possibly service the furnace in the future if he can't deliver an up to date American Standard working furnace now? My mother wants her money returned, the furnace and so forth removed, and the mess they left cleaned up. Bob Laudette did not install a system free of charge out of the goodness of his heart. Lastly, my mother's health living under these conditions has deteriorated since the furnace was installed December 3,2019 . With the pandemic, the directive now is to shelter in the safety and comfort of your home. The safety of her home is a health hazard. How insensitive Bob Laudette is to suggest this is a frivolous matter! Hopefully our experience will save someone from grief in the future! Photos supplied upon request!

By Saturday morning, I noticed the tap water was exceptional hot, too hot to touch. Then, by Saturday night I ran out of hot water. Resetting the heater seemed to fix the issue, but it overheated the water again. After some researching and contemplating my options, I decided to reach out to a professional. I contacted Mark to see if he could come and diagnose my heater and offer a quote for any repairs needed. Mark was able to come over my house as soon as I was available to meet him. He was very professional and analyzed the situation and gave me a few options on how to remedy it. Most likely, the thermostat in the heater went and it would need to be replaced. But since my heater was 13 years old, another option, probably the better one, would be to replace the entire heater. Mark quoted me a very fair price to fix my heater, or replace and install a new one. Mark shared his professional opinion, and the options, without trying to sell me anything, or pressure me one way or another. I had asked Mark how soon he would be able to fix the heater, and how fast. To my surprise, Mark said he had an opening the very next day, and it would only take about an hour to install a new one. After Mark left, I discussed my options with acquaintances and family, and I decided the best decision would be just to replace the heater. A couple hours later, I called Mark and asked several more questions. He answered my questions professionally and respectfully. He was not condescending and was very patient with my inquiries. I decided to hire Mark to replace the heater. The next day he arrived with one other person, and the new heater, ready for installation. I was amazed by his speed and precision with installing the heater, piping, and electrical wire. If I had tried to install this myself, it would have probably taken me days; it took Mark 1 hour. The heater is working great, and the installation looks fabulous! After a stressful weekend of not knowing if, or when, I would have hot water, it was great to finally relax and be able to enjoy a long, hot shower with my girlfriend.

The second time, the pull to turn the shower on stopped working. They came out quickly and while this turned in to a bigger repair that required cutting a hole in the wall of the room next to the bathroom, they explained what needed to be done and why before proceeding with the work. This most recent time we had a clog between the house and septic and they came, identified the issue, put a new cleanout in the basement and snaked the system out twice to ensure the problem was fixed. They asked if I wanted them to Prime my well pump which I've done before so I mean I installed my well pump I work on a farm they're not talking to somebody who knows nothing about Plumbing . So that takes them another 45 minutes or so and I can't figure out why something that should only take 10 minutes is taking them so long . Apparently they want to tell me that my tank is in the wrong place and that they had to clean out my filter by my water tank and all kinds of other stuff that was unnecessary that I did not ask them to do obviously that part of the bill . Was supposed to take two guys took three to do the job . My well pump worked for about 10 or 12 days after they finish the job and then crapped out because clearly there was some kind of debris in the lines from whatever they did still don't know if it's the valve or if when they cleaned out the filter they got gunk in my lines .
