We've been here several times. The food is consistently very good. We really enjoy their pizzas and wings. The pizzas are wood oven cooked which we are fond of. The crust is thin and the toppings are generous. Their wings are cooked thru and quite tasty. We get the Siracha Lime wings. Their salads are a decent size, with fresh ingredients. Their Chicken and Calabacitas dish is bursting of flavor. The waiters & waitresses have been very informative, helpful & courteous. The tables are covered in brown paper. I love going here and ordering from Favor. They know how to infuse their dishes with Asian and medical flairs. They have dishes for the simple pallet and the very lavish. My favorite item in the menu is actually the fried green beans. They are crispy and warm and come with a creamy ranch-like sauce. Try all the sliders. I haven't been disappointment by any! read more

Exhilarating international fusion in a casual environment. One of the few restaurants in town where I can look forward to trying something new each time! Here you can enjoy creative takes on distinct cuisines at one spot. The portions are too large to be considered "small plates" but they are tiny enough to warrant trying lots of things! Ruli's is truly unique because they are not just bold, they're smart. The chefs understand how flavors work together to create a wonderful surprise for your palate! I felt like the Remy from the movie Ratatouille, when he takes a bite of cheese and hears a symphony in his mind! Try the Toreado Teriyaki wings--an unexpected blend that works phenomenally! I recently tried the green curry wings, and they were excellent as well. The bangers and mash is a popular dish here, and definitely worth trying. The fried green beans were crunchy and delightful. A spicy green aoli sauce is served with several items, and it's the perfect kick that goes with almost everything! Some restaurants put olives on a cheese pizza and consider themselves "mediterranean-italian fusion", but that's not what this place is about. The only downside is the dessert menu. I haven't been impressed with any of their options, and the cakes are almost always dry. Don't let that be your reason not to come because the overall dining experience makes up for it! I rarely describe restaurants as truly exciting, but eating at Ruli's always ends up that way. The lighting is quite dark inside, so I wasn't able to snag any good pictures. Let's just say that 50% of a good restaurant stems from good customer service, because after all it is what differentiates you from mediocre and the best. My visit to Rulis today was less than impressionable and left a lot to be desired. It is really sad when high quality establishments like this one hire in experienced staff that simply cannot man up to the plate during a rush such as today. Granted the place was packed and there was only two servers on the floor, obviously a mismanagement issue. But still there is a certain way an experienced server would handle this. First of all we were sat by the girl who was going to wait on us, of course we had no clue she was our server. So we sat there for about 5 minutes and watched both numb nuts walk around us. Until finally she came back and asked "waters for everyone?" we said yes and she walked away. Still no menus or silverware to at least look at..... 2 minutes later she came back brought us the menus and the silverware and again walked away. We looked at our menus for another 5 minutes and wondered who the hell was our server. Finally when we were close to walking out she passed by and said "I'll be back to take your order shortly". Then 3 minutes later she came back to take our order. Of course by this time I was completely and utterly annoyed! This is what tends to make or break a dining experience. Granted my visits at Rulis have always been top notch so it's hard not to expect the same every time, but why shouldn't I? They set the service bar now it's their job to maintain it! I understand you are busy or under staffed, but it doesn't take a genius to know how to handle it. First of all this girl should have greeted us properly and introduced herself as our server. Secondly you should always seat a table with silverware and menus. Thirdly she should of said I'll be right out with some waters while you look over the menu. And lastly instead of walking around like she didn't know we were ready to order, she should have came to our table and told us I will be right back to take your order I just have one table ahead of you. I have to say the kitchen was not backed up and was on top of their game considering our order came out very quickly. As always the food was delicious and their are no complaints here. But there is no doubt customer service and well trained staff are inevitably two key components to a successful establishment and I hope Rulis hasn't stopped paying attention to that.... will I be back? Amazing! The food was incredible, the best tasting I have had in ... ever. We met the chef and owner, Rulis, himself. He is an engaging person with a fun personality. He knows the local history and how it has impacted the foods in the area. Many people assume that "Tex-Mex" is all you will find in Texas, but the truth is that El Paso is home to an eclectic and rich history that has been impacted by flavors and cultures from around the world. This restaurant is a hidden gem and all who visit El Paso is missing out if they don't stop here for a lunch or dinner! Our table ordered brick fired pizza, the Chihuahua Pasta dish featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on Food Network. Although a bit too spicy for me (I am a wimp, lol) the flavors were complex, warm, and deep. If you like a bit of warmth in your food then this dish is a winner! My husband had the shrimp enchiladas, and the exceeded his expectations. The shrimp was fresh and perfectly cooked and this dish is another delicious choice if you like a bit of heat in your food. I ordered an amazing dish called Chicken Calabacitas (made from chef Rulis' grandmothers recipe) it is a creamy plate of comfort and amazing flavors. The ingredients are all locally sourced and the main flavors are corn and calabacitas (a Mexican squash). The chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I eat KETO when possible and even though this dish has corn, onions, and a few tomatoes, it still comes in at u dear 12 net carbs... and that is if you can eat the whole plat (I could only eat about half and took the rest home). For a nice dinner out, that is not too terribly high in carb count. If you live (or are planning to) in the El Paso, TX or Las Cruces, NM area you have got to add this restaurant to your favorites list. Rulis also has started an online live cooking class where you are given a bag with all the ingredients you will need for the class and a link to the online experience... and it starts with the unbagging, the ingredients preparation, and the actual cooking. Been driving through the parking lot of this establishment for a long while now and have completely ignored it because it reminds me of the old Pizza Hut buildings and reminds me of gluten and I'm gluten-free 100%. After a terribly busy day my boo and I decided to finally check it out because it is so close to home. Wow! Completely not what I had envisioned when I walked in. It's super clean. On the edge of upscale and casual. Did not smell like pizza. They even have gluten free pizza! Their happy hour is super decent, I've found the most similar tacos to the ones from a food truck back in Los Angeles. $4 for 4 is a steal for El Paso. I also love eating the Gambas Al Ajo- basically huge garlic shrimp, juicy, and well seasoned.LAMB LOLLIPOPS for when I'm feeling fancy and need extra protein, I especially enjoy the mango salsa that comes with it. Papas bravas is tiny. I always forget and get reminded not to order it again, to small for the cost. Did I mention the nachos and sirloin tacos always have avocado on them?! This was by far one of the worst trade deals in the history of trade deals, maybe ever. All jokes aside I ordered a pizza, which to be fair was advertised to be 10 inches. With that in mind, you would think that the pizza would be loaded with toppings. The Al Pastor pizza was good enough but was barely topped with any of the toppings. The small pizza with very little toppings was simply not worth the 13 dollars it demanded. I ordered wings as well, they were not bad but the experience was not good at all. I have to say that I was really disappointed. I have tried some of the food at a beer festival a few months ago and so I decided to pay them a visit. The service was really slow that we had to ask the other servers for our server. Our food took a long time to come out and when we finally got it, it was like warm and my fries were flat out cold. I had to ask for new ones. I ordered the veggie pita and it was not good at all. The hummus was practically missing. Only a tiny smear of it in there and the pita was hard (maybe overheated) and falling apart. It was pretty bland too. I recently came here because I was shopping at the Sunland Park mall. I was hungry and I didn't know what to try so I just winged it and looked up on Yelp top rated restaurants and this came up. I wasn't disappointed at all I ordered the Pasta Chihuahua which everyone seemed to love and I agree it was great I don't know who thought of it or how but I was impressed. I also ordered a pizza for myself along with the pasta and also was impressed it was good and thin just how I ordered it. Rulis has great food, and very generous portions, for a fair price. I've had the chicken kabobs, which is a massive amount of food, and they're very tasty. I've also had the chicken with calabacitas which I also enjoyed. Lastly I had the Chihuahua pasta which sounded great in the description, but it seemed to miss something on the flavor. WORST CASE OF ABSENT MINDED SERVER. She was the WORST Server ever. We sat for over an Hour waiting for our Food. COME TO FIND SHE NEVER PLACED OUR ORDER. Tables all around us got served and their food came and I understand places get busy, but was BEYOND RIDICULOUS FOR BAD SERVICE. WE go on regular basis, when it's even busy than today. We take clients, friends and family all the time. Today we had play to go to so we went with enough time to make to our show. After waiting for more than hour, I finally got to see what happened to our order, it hadn't even been started, I finally talked to our server and her excuse is that she no control over the Kitchen and I talk to Raul Gonzalez the Chef and owner she blamed on her for dropping the ball. By than I was too ANGRY to even stay. We already going to be late for event. Still BAD on both the Server and Owner for all around The Worst service we ever experienced in a place we frequently go to, at least once or twice a week and spend any where from 30 to 120 dollars each time we go to Dine there. We have supported this place even when their power was out and all they could serve was pizza. Raul tried to fix things way too Late. We had an EVENT to attend and we were almost Late to it too because of Rulis UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR. The 4 of us left Hungry, Angry and late for our Event. When you plan a Great evening and Get Terrible Start, it ruins the rest of Evening. It will be a very long time before we go back to Rulis or even bother to go back. We love Ruli's! Been going to Ruli's since it opened downtown and have followed to all three locations. I love the tortilla soup with out the tortilla strips-- it's a semi-spicy veggie chicken soup that an abuelita would make All the salads are great, but I do always ask for dressing on the side bc I like very little. Shrimp tacos with the slaw, shrimp nachos, Chuco cheesesteak, sliders, and all the pizzas are GREAT! They also have a great beer menu and some really great wines... Thursday's are half off bottles! I am a pizza fan. Period. & When it comes to pizza this place doesn't steer wrong on making their pizza unique. They have done a great job with coming up with unusual ingredients for pizza that would fall under the "gourmet" pizza category of dining. Although the pizza combinations are a bit strange they only taste alright. Its almost like the pizza is trying too hard to be good. Where UnRulis has missed the mark is not with their food its with their beer selection, service and atmosphere. The restaurant looks like an old mcdonalds, and the owner has not done a great job creating a fun bar/restaurant atmosphere. The beer selection is strange (again with the trying to hard to be cool almost), with none of the crowd favorites/ "go to beers" of the world (aka miller light, coors, bud, ect). If you're looking for a different place to go get food and drinks I would suggest trying it once to see if you like it. But its not my cup of tea for sure. It wasn't horrible, but I would never ask for it. read more

Wood-fired pizza. Delicious sandwiches. Rulis is a great establishment on N Mesa. I've had their pizza before (it was very good. Not my fav in town but they have the most unique variations of pizza). Decided to head in on a Sunday night around 7pm. I'll start with a minor bad point. They probably need one more waiter. When I arrived I sat myself at bar. And waited for 10 mins. Finally someone came over and asked if I had been helped. There was no dedicated bartender so the two waiters appeared to be doing double duties. After they figured out I was there (I swear I wasn't hiding!) the service was great. Got a glass of Pinot Grigio (reasonably priced but so-so Pinot in my opinion. It also wasn't chilled enough). After looking over menu I ordered the Italian sandwich and sweet potato fries. It came out surprisingly fast. And beautifully hot temperature wise. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. Nice portion size. The sandwich admittedly did not look very impressive. It looked small. But after I took my first bite I was a believer. The pesto sauce, the crispness of the ciabatta bread, the thin sliced chicken. Delicious. Also, they provide a chipotle aoli sauce on the side. Soooo good. In short, great food. Service is generally pretty good. Pizzas and sandwiches are legit. Update as of 22 October 15 Had their jalapeño bottle caps. Very very spicy. Jalapeños used tasted fresh. Not a huge fan of the batter. But portion size for $3 was excellent. Got their Cubano sandwich. Also very good. Get sweet potatoes fries instead of chips. Chips appear to just be regular ruffled lays variety. Sandwiches are good at rulis but honestly too small. My friends got southwestern pizza which they loved (they are huge fans of the place to be fair). Other friend got calzone and he was disappointed by how little meat and cheese was inside. The thing was huge when it came out. He cut it open and it was mostly empty space. read more

I like it. Rulis is a great place to come if you don't know what you want to eat. I say this because their menu is pretty extensive. They offer Asian, Italian, Latino cuisine, along with others. If you ask me, I think that's a pretty unique and impressive experience. Off the top of my head, I don't know of any other restaurants that do that in El Paso. I've been there a few times but it's been awhile. We brought my mom to Rulis for her birthday sometime back and she enjoyed it. I usually get a brick oven create your own pizza. The pizza is on the thinner side but it's tasty. The cheese and sauce had a good flavor. Next time I go, I'll probably order something different. Another thing I like about Rulis is that they offer close to 100 different kinds of craft beer. That's amazing imo. They also offer wine. Rulis was one of Guy Fieri's (The TV guy from the Food Network) stops when he was in town. I recommend Rulis. read more

Okay, the pizza (which is about all they have) was very good. As good as artisan pizza or the old sunset pizza. Service was good and the tea glass never got empty. If I had any complaint it was that they have a wierd little arcade area where the Little Children are allowed to run wild. While that may be nice for the parents if the kids, if you have to sit in that area, it is hell. They have this huge jenga game that kept fall g over making more noise . Argh. High marks for the food. Low marks for that damn arcade area . Get rid of it. It serves no purpose . Have the kids play outside. The server apologized and said something like "it is calmer during the week". We were there Friday night . Frankly I don't give a shot if it is calmer on the weeknights. Just tried this place for the first time with a group of friends. We each got a different pizza so we could share and try them all. The NOLA, Georgina, and teriyaki chicken. All the pizzas were good but I am not dying to come back for them. The atmosphere is the most confusing thing I have ever experienced in a restaurant. The walls are bright colors and you feel like you're in a children's play area but there are 5 TVs on the wall playing sports. So it has a sports bar feel but you're wondering where the ball pit and slides are. Also they specialize in Texas and New Mexico beers and wine only. Last Friday a few friends and I stopped in the newly opened Unrulis Pizza + Pints for their "Grand Opening" to see what the latest El Paso brick oven pizza installation had in store. Unrulis' is the sister restaurant to Chef Rulis' Rulis' International Kitchen, also on North Mesa Street in El Paso, Texas. Their menu is a compilation of salads, sandwiches and of course brick oven pizza with a variety of vegetarian and vegan options, all well complimented by local Texas and New Mexico craft brews. We were short on time but ordered two pizzas to sample and a bottle of wine. I was a fan of the pizza crusts' texture and flavor but a little put off by the toppings. For one, the pizzas are advertised as ten inch pies, but with a two to three inch crust, the toppings are left unevenly distributed in the center of the pie, and therefore consumed in the first two to three bites. I enjoyed the Spinach Pizza, because let's face it, everything is good with goat cheese and some garlic, but may have preferred the apple slices sautéed rather than served up raw. The Kale Pizza was a bit less appetizing, lacking any variety of textures or flavors but merely one mass of well oiled sautéed vegetables of one texture and flavor. While the atmosphere inside is bright and inviting, Unrulis' seems best suited for families wishing to entertain their children with arcade games and toys while the adults enjoy a pie and a few beers. I am a big supporter of Rulis' International Kitchen and hope that Unrulis' continues to develop their concept and menu. Good food, we ate rather light fare. Bangers and sausage, house salad and crepe with caramel and apples. My only concern was that it seems like they either need more wait persons or divide the responsibilities more evenly. Although our waiter was working hard, our food was rather lengthy in coming out. I simply love this place. I am a huge fan of their create your own oven baked pizza! That alone keeps me coming back. I love the décor is very homey and like that they only have one TV. You will notice everyone in conversation rather than on their phones or watching TV. On this last visit I asked the wait staff a question...it was not a complaint only a question...low an behold Mr. Rulis himself came over to our table and asked to join us. This owner has such a personal interest in the quality of his establishment. Sir we truly enjoyed the conversation and having you entertain our questions. This is a great local eatery for either a casual night out or a date night. We were comfortable in our t-shirts and jeans but there were a handful of people that were a bit dressier. There were several vegetarian options on the menu but nothing strictly vegan that I could find. I ordered the Panino Rustico which was sautéed red bell pepper, onions, and mushrooms with feta cheese, drizzled with olive oil on a focaccia bread bun. The veggies were perfect but I would have like a bit more. My last few bites were just bread I chose fried green beans for my side and they were perfectly crunchy. The green beans came with a creamy (possibly) pesto sauce. I would definitely order them again. The beer menu here is pretty extensive with a few selections I hadn't had before. I ended up with a Firestone Union Jack on draft and a Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin in a bottle. For dessert they have three options.
