We arrived around 6:00 p.m., and I'm not sure if they take reservations. If you want to avoid the long wait, I'd suggest arriving before 5:30 or after 7:00. The good news is that there are plenty of stores around, so it's easy enough to walk around and kill some time while we waited. We were seated at a patio table right around the end of the estimated wait time. Our server was attentive and helpful, and we got our water and orders in quickly. The food followed soon after. Everything was fresh and tasty! We've been to quite a few Italian restaurants, and while we've enjoyed them all, this one struck us as having the most homemade feel. There's something comforting about food that tastes like it came straight out of someone's kitchen rather than a restaurant kitchen. Definitely worth the wait, and we'll be back for more!

My bf and I both couldn't get used to the combo even after having all of them. We'd describe it as not good but not bad. We'd try the peach and burrata bread next time~ Calabrese Pizza 4.5/5 -SO BOMB. Seems like a regular pepperoni pizza but it's so juicy and flavorful specially bc the slices are SO THIN! It did not make me feel bloated even after eating all of it! A must try. Nothing like a regular pepperoni pizza from pizza chains. Tagliatelle aka cacio e pepe 5/5 -I wish I got my own plate because this was that good, I believe this is the first time I've tasted authentic cacio e pepe and I understand the hype now. We went in on a Monday @3PM and it was still busy but no wait line! We got seated right away and the waiter was so helpful with introducing the menu. I wish I got a picture of the inside too because it's a small intimate interior that rly makes you feel like you're in Italy.

We were initially seated outside next to a family with two young kids who were pretty loud. Totally understandable (we have kids too), but we were hoping for a more relaxed, cozy night. Our waitress was great from the start. After ordering the fritto misto calamari (which was good), we asked if we could move inside since it was pretty hot out. I do wish we had been seated inside from the beginning, especially for a birthday dinner. Once inside, the experience completely changed for the better, much more intimate and exactly what we were looking for. We also got a red wine from the Pursued by Bear line (don't remember the exact one, but it had a bold bear on the label) -- smooth, full-bodied, and went really well with the pasta. I got the cacio e pepe and my wife ordered the strozzapreti. Hers was definitely the standout -- the pasta was soft and the red sauce had a lot more flavor than I expected, especially since I don't usually go for red sauce. My cacio e pepe was still good, just a bit simpler. For dessert, we had the vanilla panna cotta and Nonna's cake -- both solid and a nice way to end the night. Overall, a really good experience. The service and indoor ambiance definitely made the night.

Great hospitality and high quality ingredients!…read more We tried Marcello for the first time last weekend. Overall, we enjoyed our experience but we felt there were some areas for improvement. Located in a strip mall on Hillcrest Drive, this restaurant is highly accessible and parking is ample on the front. Our host told us that this restaurant is nicely situated to view the fireworks on July 4th, which we planned to come back for the second time. The menu is simple and standard. We ordered the fried calamari as appetizer, and a shrimp pasta and meat pasta for entrees. The pasta was soft and tasted homemade, but the seasoning felt a little light. The calamari was flavorful but felt generic. Another aspect that also stood out is the lack of music or lighting to set the ambiance. While I liked the table setting, the ambiance felt a bit stark. With so many Italian restaurants in our neighborhood, I feel there needs to be some tweaking in the menu offerings, service, and ambiance for it to stand out. With the high prices and good quality ingredients, the restaurant has the potential to become top tier with some tweaking. Our meal came to about $100, which was reasonable for the quality and service. We will be on 7/4 to try other menu items.

Unfortunately, the experience left us extremely disappointed. The biggest issue was the unprofessional service and attitude of our waiter, Emmanuel. First, the wrong dish was brought to our table. We actually suspected that something was wrong, so we specifically asked Emmanuel if this was the exact dish we had ordered. He confidently said yes. However, when we received the bill, we noticed that the dish listed had a completely different name and was clearly not what we had ordered. What was especially disappointing that when we pointed out the mistake, the waiter barely reacted and did not seem concerned about the error. On top of that, a 20% tip was automatically added to our bill, which we paid. Other service issues also occurred. Our child was served a completely different dish than what she ordered. We also had to wait an unusually long time for one of our drinks, and it was only brought after we reminded the waiter about it couple of times. For a restaurant of this level and price range, we expected much better service, attention to detail, and management oversight. We were fully prepared to pay for a good experience, the price itself was not the issue. The problem was that we paid for what we ordered but did not actually receive it, and when we brought the mistake to the waiter's attention, it was handled as if it were not important. We left the restaurant feeling extremely disappointed, and, honestly, somewhat misled. This is a one-star review, and I strongly believe the management needs to pay much closer attention to the quality of service, staff training, and overall supervision of the restaurant. !!!!! So overall, we completely do not recommend this restaurant!!!!!!!

The place has the most gorgeous decor inside and a beautiful patio outside. It's really fun to look at the wine wall, learn about the wines from all the different regions, and then try pours at various sizes and prices, from 1oz to an entire bottle. Great wine selections and good prices too. The cocktails looked beautiful too! We enjoyed our food that was great for sharing. We ordered the margarita pizza, Caesar salad, meatballs, and a vodka pasta. All delicious. We enjoyed the patio outside. We decided to sit outside since it is a bit cold inside, so I would recommend a shawl if you sit inside. Can't wait to go back. I would love to try their happy hour and come for live music! Extremely disappointing experience -- especially for a birthday celebration…read more We chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and made a reservation specifically for the occasion. I mentioned the birthday when making the reservation, and my brother even brought flowers to the restaurant for me. There was absolutely no question that this was a special celebration. Unfortunately, the entire experience felt careless and poorly managed. Our server took away our wine glasses and left us with only water glasses. We waited for quite a while, and eventually had to ask for wine glasses just so we could use the self-service wine machines -- which are one of the main features that attract people to this restaurant in the first place. It was frustrating to have to ask for something as basic as a wine glass in a restaurant built around a wine experience. The service throughout the meal was consistently inattentive. Utensils were brought late multiple times, and after our dishes were changed, we had to sit and wait for utensils before we could even start eating. My daughter's pasta order was also brought incorrectly. But what made the experience particularly disappointing was how completely ignored our special occasion was. Despite the birthday being noted in the reservation and the obvious presence of birthday flowers, there was not even a simple "Happy Birthday" from the restaurant. We were not expecting anything extravagant -- just a basic acknowledgment that would have shown some attention and hospitality. Then came the final unpleasant surprise: we were charged an additional large-party fee. Our group was 4 adults and 2 children -- 6 people total. We have dined at many restaurants with a group of this size and have never been charged an additional fee like this without it being clearly communicated and justified. Considering the level of service we received, seeing an unexpected extra charge on the bill was especially disappointing. What should have been a memorable birthday dinner instead felt like an afterthought. The issue was not one small mistake. Mistakes happen. The problem was the combination of poor service, lack of attention, incorrect food, the complete lack of acknowledgment of a birthday that was clearly communicated in advance, and finally an unexpected additional charge. For a restaurant that presents itself as an experience rather than simply a place to eat, I expected much more professionalism and hospitality. Unfortunately, this is not a place I would choose again for a special occasion, and based on this experience, I would have a hard time recommending it to others.

The flavors are consistent, rich, and somehow even better with each visit. This time, the meatballs were hands down some of the best we've ever had--perfectly seasoned, tender, and full of flavor. We also tried some of the baked pastas, which were absolutely comforting and delicious. And their special gnocchi? Incredible. Soft, flavorful, and truly something special. And of course, I can't forget the pizza--it was absolutely amazing. Honestly, no need to drive all the way to LA to places like Pizzeria Sei... this spot delivers that same level of quality right here. You can tell there's real care in the food here. It's quickly becoming one of our go-to spots with the family. Already looking forward to our next visit!

**Utter Disappointment**…read more I followed the strong reviews and decided to try Magma Pizzeria for takeout through DoorDash. I ordered the Queen Margherita with added cheese and pepperoni. The pizza arrived about 20-30 minutes later, and while delivery temperature can affect a pie, it usually cannot hide whether the pizza itself is well-made. Unfortunately, this one missed the mark. The box had oil pooling on one side, which was not a great first sign. The crust was cooked around the edges, but the center was thin, soft, and doughy underneath. The added cheese and pepperoni were far too salty together, almost as if they belonged to a different pizza entirely, rather than working with the Margherita base. The basil was strong, which I expected from a Margherita-style pizza, but what felt missing were the diced or sliced tomatoes. Instead, it came across more like red sauce with heavy pizza seasoning, and not in a good way. Overall, the pizza felt rushed and should not have left the kitchen in that condition. I wanted to like it based on the reviews, but this was not a good pie. I'm hoping for better pizza options in the Camarillo/Thousand Oaks area moving forward. I won't be back.
