The calamari was flavorful but felt generic. Another aspect that also stood out is the lack of music or lighting to set the ambiance. While I liked the table setting, the ambiance felt a bit stark. With so many Italian restaurants in our neighborhood, I feel there needs to be some tweaking in the menu offerings, service, and ambiance for it to stand out. With the high prices and good quality ingredients, the restaurant has the potential to become top tier with some tweaking. We waited for quite a while, and eventually had to ask for wine glasses just so we could use the self-service wine machines -- which are one of the main features that attract people to this restaurant in the first place. It was frustrating to have to ask for something as basic as a wine glass in a restaurant built around a wine experience. The service throughout the meal was consistently inattentive. Utensils were brought late multiple times, and after our dishes were changed, we had to sit and wait for utensils before we could even start eating. My daughter's pasta order was also brought incorrectly. But what made the experience particularly disappointing was how completely ignored our special occasion was. Despite the birthday being noted in the reservation and the obvious presence of birthday flowers, there was not even a simple "Happy Birthday" from the restaurant. We were not expecting anything extravagant -- just a basic acknowledgment that would have shown some attention and hospitality. Then came the final unpleasant surprise: we were charged an additional large-party fee. Our group was 4 adults and 2 children -- 6 people total. The pizza arrived about 20-30 minutes later, and while delivery temperature can affect a pie, it usually cannot hide whether the pizza itself is well-made. Unfortunately, this one missed the mark. The box had oil pooling on one side, which was not a great first sign. The crust was cooked around the edges, but the center was thin, soft, and doughy underneath. The added cheese and pepperoni were far too salty together, almost as if they belonged to a different pizza entirely, rather than working with the Margherita base. The basil was strong, which I expected from a Margherita-style pizza, but what felt missing were the diced or sliced tomatoes. Instead, it came across more like red sauce with heavy pizza seasoning, and not in a good way. Overall, the pizza felt rushed and should not have left the kitchen in that condition. I wanted to like it based on the reviews, but this was not a good pie. I'm hoping for better pizza options in the Camarillo/Thousand Oaks area moving forward. I won't be back.
