My boyfriend and I tried SBK for the first time last night and I'm so excited to eat my leftovers today. There were several people waiting for food when we pulled up which you know is a good sign! Convenient parking in the Texaco lot. I got the mixed shawarma plate and he got the falafel arabi. The food was cooked to order. The meat was juicy and tender. The veggies were crisp and fresh. The hummus was smooth and flavorful. The rice was perfectly seasoned. The portion sizes and plentiful and the menu has lots of options. Can't wait to go back and try something else! read more

First of all i ordered chicken shawarma and was expecting chicken and rice but was handed a role. When i asked the guy and showed him the order he said yeah that is the sandwich, no where in my order it says that. He did not even offer me to change and charge me extra to make what i need. He absolutely had no passion to serve the customer. Lone truck adjacent in a gas station parking lot. To add insult to the injury the lettuce he put was all rotten and i had to take them out before i ate it. Tasteless food. Will never go back here. read more

Wow, just incredible. What can I say about the food truck Syrian Brothers' Kitchen (SBK)? I've gone there 3 times now, and I can't wait to go back! I just love their chicken shwarma plate. Everything is amazingly good, including the chicken (even though I say I prefer chicken kabob (shish tawook) to shwarma, this chicken shwarma has crossed the road-- the road to greatness!). Everything else is also wonderful-- the rice; the salad that's surprising delicious; the hummus (with pita bread); and the tzatziki sauce. As they say in Syria, delicioso! Okay, I don't know what they say in Syria, but this food is fantastic for certain. It's the yellow food truck next to the convenience store that says "bread basket". Go soon! The falafel's phenomenal. The hummus is possibly the best I've had outside of the Middle East. Their bread is perfection, and the side of fries was hot and crispy. The guy working the truck was talkative & friendly - promising that i'd love the food. Guess what? He was right! I'm baffled by the negative reviews here. (Dinging the business for being too friendly, for making reasonable substitutions and for serving a shawarma when a shawarma (a sandwich!) was ordered. People love to complain, I guess. A little hard to find - it is tucked around the side of the Texaco so if you are coming up the hill on William Cannon from the Westgate side it is easy to miss, despite being a bright yellow food truck. Food is awesome. Each thing is really tasty. I got the falafel plate - baba ghanouj, rice, salad, pita, salad, and the falafel. ALL very good. Falafel may be the best i've had. Not the best. The rice tasted like cinnamon plus they has these black seeds which were very overpowering. The hummus lacked flavor and the falafel was so dry. Lamb gyro meat was good, baba and the fries. To be honest, I won't be back. I spent a year in the middle east and this does not hold a candle. Last time I had really great shawarma was in Israel and Jordan in 2017. This food truck on William Cannon is a very, very close 2nd. The owners are extremely friendly and the food is outstanding. My 21 and 13 year old kids love it! And, it was literally the only place open during the Austin ice storm of '23. Bonus in my book! We've been here several times and each time it's a great experience and we get a LOT of food. They served me Dolmas that were old and rancid, the grilled veggies were previously frozen, and their falafel's were cold and dry. This is a very well hidden gem and potentially the best Mediterranean cuisine in ATX. It's an unassuming trailer next to a gas station down south and on the two occasions we ordered, manned by just one Syrian guy from Aleppo. They were flavorful and although the sandwich could have done with more filling inside no complaints overall on the quality of the food. As I was waiting for my order, the person behind the counter began a conversation with me. I welcome such conversations but I felt uncomfortable with the one I had. It was basically him telling me (rather asking me) as to why Indians always order falafels. And then him going on to tell me that he should probably rename his restaurant to Restaurant Falafilio (due to so many Indians ordering falafels). Not derogatory but uncomfortable. Some might point out he was just being friendly. But it would have been so much better to talk about the weather! I'd also recommend don't get the Americanized things. Stick to the middle eastern dishes.
