Rating strictly for their Ham & Cheese Croissant. $5.95 + tax. Saw the mixed reviews but they were the closest donut shop and was short on time. The croissant was visibly dark on top and sure enough was hard. The ham inside was dry too and overall didnt taste fresh like it was made the night before or overcooked. Overall disappointed. 2 stars at best. read more

This used to be the best donut shop. On August 16, 2025, I visited and purchased two glazed donuts for $4.50. There were ants crawling in the case, the man and woman were rude and took five minutes to come out from backroom after I said, "helloooo, is anyone here?" and the glaze on the donuts completely cracked and fell off onto my shirt as soon as I bit into them. Definitely NOT worth my time or money. read more

Been going here on and off for the last 25 years. Got a delivery today - it has gone way downhill. "Chocolate" donuts seemed to have very little chocolate in them and had been mixed with some sort of oil; the cake donuts were mealy and inedible. Glazed donut was still OK. Very sad - this was never the very best place but always very reliable. read more

Got a Swiss cheese and plan croissant and the croissant was hard on some parts and warm on others it also came folded up as well. I also got Donut holes that were warm and kinda to sweet. read more

I love this old school donut shop in San Clemente. Nothing like a long-standing community family business. Every time I go in there the donuts are well-stocked, fresh and delicious. My go to is the crumb doughnut, vanilla cake and a ham and cheese croissants. I've had other things like the breakfast toast sandwiches and croissant sandwiches. I've also had a few of the milk tea and Boba drinks. My only complaint is when I ask for less or half sweet for those beverages, it never comes that way. The milk tea is very sweet. I love that they've been taking credit cards now for a while. There is parking right out in front. Reasonably priced. read more

Yikes! These might be the worst donuts I've ever had. The apple fritter was nearly black and rock hard. It was literally burned and all I tasted was the bitterness of the burn. My kids, who rarely get donuts, actually threw their donuts away. To top it off, the lady behind the counter was rude. Definitely don't recommend this place. read more

I will never in my lifetime go to this place ever. The lady that's works behind the counter is very rude ..too early to be that rude. I also gave her my card and instead of handing it back to me she lays my card on the opposite side of the counter. I WILL STICK WITH STARBUCKS..NEVER AGAIN read more

People here are so rude. Came in to grab a box of donuts and in the middle of my order the guys walks away. 2 minutes later he comes back and rudely asks if I'm ready. I told him yes you walked away in the middle of my order. He again rudely says "you are taking too long, I have stuff to do". Don't come here, next time I'll drive a little further or just get donuts and the grocery store. read more

Really good donuts but damn that old guy is grumpy. I didnt do anything but order 6 donuts today and he was acting like a kid who got told to clean his room. Pretty disappointing this is what im greeted with everytime i come here. I usually just ignore him and order my food because im just used to it now and still love their donuts/bagels. If you come here just ignore his cranky attitude and say what you want. Luckily there is a nice woman who is there more than him, and she is much nicer and is refreshing to talk to after dealing with grumpy homie. read more

Well I finally snapped and am sitting down to write this brief but informative review . I have been going to S.C doughnuts since the 90's raised our family in Marblehead but it wasn't always bout the convenience from the close distance it was but for the friendly faces that greeted us from behind the counter . Those were the days and those days have long passed . Steve the former owner and his crew of kind , engaging people sold the business moved away and left us in the hands of the MOST rude , nasty , unfriendly poor excuse for a business owner . Listen the doughnuts are fine but to me as long as it's not dry a doughnut is a doughnut, I know there are some serious connoisseurs out there that may agree or disagree. Every single time I go in and I mean every single time I leave swearing I will never go back , today I didn't listen to my inner voice reminding me of how bad I end up feeling when I go there due to the horrible customer service . How bad can things be at 7 am you've basically just opened a few hours ago. . I went in with my son who is 21 but suffered a severe brain injury the reason I add that is to set the stage for how much worse it is . My son ordered 2 doughnuts , I let him order what he wants , he is not slow but he is extremely friendly which rubs them the wrong way , we also ordered a number 9 sausage, egg and some fake cheese that was so bitter and so melted it was like velvetta , and 2 large coffees. So here we go , Steve always served Dietrich's coffee which I love , they have the self serve pump crafts with their coffees. I don't know hazelnut decaf regular and maybe something else maybe like vanilla and they have these Velcro laminated cards that say Deatricks so I out of curiosity while waiting for the sandwich to be done asked are you still serving Dietrich's coffee? Is that what's in here? I thought it was a very reasonable question not confrontational and she stared at me this nasty woman, and then screamed. Do you not see the sign you not see the sign??? there's a sign out front large plastic maybe and very high up that sign has been there for as long as I can remember. I don't know that if you've stopped serving something particular that you're gonna go think to get a ladder and take it off. I don't know maybe somebody would. It was a simple question. She didn't like the question and she attacked me and then I went off. I told her how rude she was and her partner and then she started to say something nasty about my son and I stopped her in her tracks , before I could even get my grievances out they were screaming at the top of their lungs when I got in my car I went on Yelp to see if I was the crazy one, and I absolutely am not if people take the time to look at all these reviews they will see that there are so many negative reviews due to how rude these people are. There are too many other donuts in the world to have to patron a place that treats you this badly "roses donuts "Camino Los Mares , amazing. It's time that we stop giving our hard earned money to establishments that clearly don't care . Bagels are small and not toasted enough. The eggs are not even made by hand. Small portions big price tag. Definitely won't go back. I tried twice but no more. Place looks run down and staff doesn't smile nor do they greet customers who are not "regulars". read more

There are many options for donuts in this town and SC Donuts is just as good, if not better, than any. They don't offer all the new, fancy donuts that are in style right now but that's ok with me. I like mine the old fashion way. And speaking of old-fashioned donuts, these are a must-try here. I get a dozen old-fashioned donuts assorted with plain, glazed, chocolate & maple and they usually gone in my house by the end of the day! Oh!!!! And try the ham & cheese croissant. I would rate this place a 0 but since I can't I give it a 1. I came to this donut shop to get donuts for a birthday and the man was rude to us by cleaning things when they were open for another 3 hours. He didn't use gloves to grab us donuts either and in fact coughed SEVERAL times all over the donuts and just tossed our donuts on the counter and walked away. So disgusting. We left and didn't eat the donuts because we got grossed out. At least have some decency and put on gloves and cover your mouth, we get it people have bad days but that doesn't matter in this case. Rude man. read more

I work next to this shop and refuse to spend another dollar there. I used to regularly grab a coffee and donut before work. One day my wife and I stopped by and wanted to share a glazed twist donut. I asked him to cut it. He so happened to have one cut already which I thought was weird but took it to the car. It was not fresh. I returned and asked to swap it out for a fresh one but he refused. Sure, I was unhappy but not disrespectful. The man and his wife were so aggressive and angry and threatened to call the police. So they lost my business and all of my friends forever over one stupid donut read more

You want fresh donuts look no further. Only a few blocks from the freeway and beaches. Super fresh and FLUFFY donuts! They were soft and the icing had great flavors. Bagel egg sandwiches are also yummy. Had a chocolate donut, fruity pebbles and cake donut with fun sprinkles. Huge cinnamon rolls too! Better than most other donut shops around the area. read more

I've been a couple of times honestly the food is ok like any other donut shop but the attendants are terribly rude the gentleman is extremely rude and the woman still treats you like you don't pay full price for the food it's close from work but I think I've had enough I won't come back. read more

Can not believe the service I just received from SC donuts. I will NEVER do back. I simply told her my drink wasn't good - and I wanted to switch it and they both screamed at me and told me they would not make me a different drink and I couldn't buy them anymore? I have never felt so embarrassed - I was being kind and even said I would just purchase a new drink and they both made faces at me and got mad because I wanted to switch the drink. She said she isn't making me another drink and she will just give me a refund and I kindly asked if I could just purchase something else and she said no she isn't selling anything to me since everyone else loves the drink I got etc. After I got into the car she continuly made faces and hand motions at me. I don't understand why she got so upset over me not enjoying the drink? I WILL SERIOUSLY NEVER GO BACK. I should've went to surfin donuts to begin with. read more

Best twists and apple fritters in town. These donuts are PAUL Bunyan sized, so it should satisfy any donut cravings you may be having! I have had a chance to try their smoothies, I am partial to the strawberry banana is my favorite, with boba! I would like to see SC Donuts accept credit cards, currently it is cash only. read more

You shouldn't charge a transaction fee for card purchases if you're a customer that comes in every day. Adds up and not fair. I'll be going out of my way to not come here now. Donut wasn't baked completely. Came out with dough in the middle, very low quality. read more

While their donuts are good, I had the WORST experience there today. I ordered 2 donuts and a drink. I looked at the drink menu and ordered the number 9. After several minutes the woman (owner) behind the counter attempted to hand me a sandwich, also a number 9. Not sure why you would have TWO number 9's on the menu, and why you would not ask drink OR sandwich, especially since I ordered 2 donuts. When I explained that I ordered the drink not the sandwich the man (also an owner) got upset. I asked why they didn't specify drink or sandwich, he began to raise his voice at me. I continued to attempt to explain my confusion with the fact that there are 2 number 9's on the menu. He then began to holler at me "be quite!!! You talk too much, be quiet!!! and walked away from me mid sentence. I attempted to explain to the woman the issue we were having. He came back to the counter and continued to holler at me, at which point the also began yelling at me. He actually shoved her, to my surprise I then told them that after 17 years of coming here that I would never be back. She then yelled at me to "go fucking yourself" several times. I wish someone would have been there to witness their disgusting behavior. The other problem is the fact that they keep raw-blended eggs on the counter, in plain sight un-refrigerated. They sit out all day. Very unsafe practice. read more

I recently had their Boar's Head deli-sliced ham and cheese on sourdough with lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles, and I genuinely don't have the vocabulary to describe how soft and perfect that sandwich was. It's not "good for a donut shop." It's just really good. But honestly? The food is only part of why this place matters to us. Our kids practically grew up here. Dave and Dani have known our family since before our kids were even born. They've seen both of our children grow -- literally from in the womb, to infants, to toddlers, and now our kids are 2 and 7 years old. We'll be posting photos through the years because... yeah, this place is part of our family history. That's not something you can fake. This is one of those rare neighborhood spots where you sit for hours in the morning, coffee in hand, talking with locals, laughing, and catching up. It's where the community actually feels like a community. The owners, Dave and Dani, are some of the kindest, most genuine people you'll ever meet. Dave is basically a big kid himself (especially when it comes to cars) and somehow always finds ways to surprise my kids with random little toys -- the kind of moments kids remember forever. I grew up in a small town in Virginia, out of my own mom's deli and convenience store -- where locals gathered over coffee, the Washington Post (and yes... cigarettes back then ). Living on the West Coast without family nearby, Niguel Bakery & Donuts gives me that same feeling of home. This is a place where kids can still feel safe like the old days -- riding bikes with friends, scraping together change for a snack... and if they're a little short and have been on their best behavior, Dave and Dani might just take care of them anyway. That kind of generosity can't be taught -- it's who they are. It's an East Coast bodega-style bakery/deli, right here in Laguna Niguel, and they don't just talk about community -- they show it through the countless non-profit events, food donations, and local causes they support. If you're looking for more than just donuts -- if you want great food, real people, and a place that feels like home -- this is it. We'll be here tomorrow morning. And the next day. And probably for years to come.

The night before my dissertation defense, I ordered a 96 oz coffee (joe-to-go) to go with a note saying I was defending my PhD (preemptively apologizing if I looked like a frazzled raccoon and worried anyone on accident while picking up). When I walked in at 7:45 AM (15 min earlier than my pick up time, bc anxiety), the staff immediately complimented my defense outfit -- instant confidence boost -- and when I said I was the person picking up "lots of coffee," they led me to the coffee, already packed and ready :') They all wished me good luck with the warmest, most dazzling smiles. They even included a note that said, "You got this~!" which I kept in front of me during my defense. (see photo) And I passed!!! Also, they gave me half-and-half and oat milk?? In this economy?? Oat milk is basically liquid gold. I felt so loved. So caffeinated. So non-dairy option supported. Usually after defenses, there is leftover coffee that people are trying to give away. But me and High Tide Coffee? No sir. No leftovers. One of my committee members had about 4-5 cups, and I am not exaggerating., (Even in a field that basically runs on coffee, academics are running on caffeine.... and wine, so a room of 12 people, not all drinking coffee, and still finishing 96 oz of coffee is a record.) Thank you, High Tide, for the excellent coffee, the kindness, the emotional support, and the very necessary academic bean juice. Super cute coffee shop that's not too far from Doheny State Beach but pretty okay matcha…read more My cousins and I stopped by here while we were camping in Doheny. The vibes were nice, very coastal aesthetic with a decent amount of seating. Pretty diverse menu, prices were that of an indie coffee shop. Cashier was so kind and patient even though I was so indecisive, so I definitely appreciate that! What I ordered: -Lavender Honey Matcha: I got this with oat milk and it tasted like water with sweet lavender flavoring, couldn't really taste the matcha. 2/5 My cousins and I weren't very impressed by the drinks here. We all got matcha so I'm thinking maybe their coffee is better because the place was busy. I probs wouldn't come back, and if I did I'd give the coffee a chance.
