I know this place has been here a long time it's like a convenient store with lots of varieties of refrigerated beverages and then chips and all on top of doughnuts, bagels and coffees, fresh made sandwiches. I wanted bagels and cream cheese to go with a coffee. Fairly quick and easy, BUT EXPENSIVE. At least I thought so, the utensils bed so difficult to use, cheap napkins and the worst, smudgy tables, the tables should be wiped after each patron and with cleaner and a cloth. Would have at least matched the cost for me! Seemed well organized though. Would definitely come back, can I request better cutlery and napkins and clean tables though? read more

A nice little donut shop in San Juan Capistrano. It's located in a strip mall off the exit off Ortega Hwy. they have sandwiches and drinks available along with donuts that are made daily. They have a nice selection of everything there but I always like to try a variety of different ones. The blue berry, strawberry and cinnamon donuts were my favorite. Okay, I'm not a sweets or donut eater but these donuts were executed exceptionally well. All the classics that I remembered from being a kid! Glazed cake donuts, glazed cinnamon roles, chocolate filled boston cream, glazed raspberry jelly, huge apple fritters, cinnamon sugar. These were so delicious and tempting that you'd cut a little piece and come back over and over for another little piece until the whole donut was gone. Sooo over-priced. A medium coffee is $3+ bucks! Just for a regular drip coffee. Starbucks is under 3 - granted it's Starbucks yuck coffee but still. What's superior at Wendi's? The cashier lady seems to believe, customers are there for her. Fails to understand the simplest of requests and resorts to face contortions and eye rolling, infantile behavior really. Went in to get a smoothie as I have gotten hundreds of times. I was charged almost two dollars more and I simply asked the gentleman why. I can't fathom how rude and condescending he was over a question. I showed him my phone the numerous times I was charged $6 and he snatched my phone out of my hand and said he doesn't care how many times I've been there or got it. I have never experienced such rude customer service I was genuinely shocked. How calm he was about it and saw no problem with it whatsoever. I think they are now under new management or have a new owner. The last two weeks I've had the worst experience at Wendi's and I've always had good service here. First they ignore the customers and talk amongst themselves. Then I ordered 3 and 1/2 dozen donuts for my kids' classrooms for their Christmas parties. I placed order on Monday to pick up on Thursday morning at 7am and already paid for the order. On Thursday morning the people working had no idea about the order and were even arguing with me about it! They FINALLY gave me whatever they had in the cases but we arrived late to school and I felt horrible and so embarrassed that the classes and teachers had to wait for whatever they were WILLING to give me. Okay I have to give this place 5 stars since my friend's family still owns this location. They keep expanding and upgrading their menu. I think their donuts are good and it's a good location off the freeway. The people who work there are very nice and the people who frequent the place seem really friendly. If you come here often they are very personable. Soon they will be opening up Red Velvet next store. I can't wait to check that place out. Hopefully I will work with them to tweak the new menu. I came in the other day when visiting my parents in San Juan. I was craving a ham and cheese croissant and decided that I would just stop at Wendi's donuts when I got to SJC. I ordered my ham & cheese and then proceed to the register and they said it would be $5.00. I was shocked that it was expensive and looked up at the menu board to price check. Previously, I didn't remember it being that expensive for a piece of ham and some cheese in a croissant. All prices were erased, only item names remained on the menu board. Sad to say I've been consistently disappointed by this place lately. The donuts used to be better but are now just average, the prices have gotten pretty high and fluctuate more than seems justified by supply/inflation issues, the selection is limited even early in the day, and service is generally subpar, sometimes even bad to be honest. It can be quite slow to order, and pricing questions never seem to get a straight answer. I like to give places several chances, because everyone has an off day, but I just can't say I've had good experiences here in a long time. I hear they changed hands, maybe that's the reason? They have coffee and deli sandwiches too. Here's my beef with Wendi's. It's not a major beef but it's what sends me across town to Donut Hut most of the time. I can't get a Ham, Cheese and Jalapeño Croissant here. They are my favorite man! If I'm going to go for ALL those calories I want what I want, you know?!? I've tried. I asked once and got a plain croissant cut open and stuffed with a massive amount of cold, raw jalapeños. Yikes! Again, I tried and the second time I got ham and cold jalapeños. Nope. We LOVE Wendi's donuts, and have been known to drive up from San Diego just to get our fix of their tasty nibbles. Their bagel breakfast sandwiches are as good as their many styles of donuts. Wendi's makes quite an attempt to stay current with bacon-maple bars, red velvet donuts and homemade macaroons. I've even seen Green Tea muffins. The coffee is also good. If we're talking about small family-owned doughnut shops, this one takes the cake! There's a dooughnut shop closer to my house that doesn't even sell bagels...wtf? But Wendi's offers everything! Wide selection of doughnuts, AMAZING (and huge) bagels, smoothies, dessert pastries (I believe they're macaroons), croissants, deli sandwiches which you can customize to your liking, coffee, a HUGE assortment of sodas, drinks, juices, etc., and even some random items like to-go ramens and cigarettes. Its a one stop shop and the food quality is amazing. I'm always partial to the customer service from asian food places since they usually lack (I, myself, am half Chinese), and if you happen to be in there when the owner (Wendi) is in there, you will find she is very happy and delightful. Otherwise, the other staff is usually what you'd expect. I always try to make it a point to come in here though when I'm in the area since I am never disappointed. Plus, this is the only place that will make a banana smoothie to my liking (Sokny "Sew-knee" makes it the best!). 100% recommend. I'm really torn because I grew up coming here and I love the food and selection. The food and smoothies are awesome. If you want quick yummy sanwhiches, snacks, drinks, ice cream etc. - this is your place hands down. Today my order took way to long because their biggest clientele, st margrets kids were around. They forgot about my food and this happens often. They prioritize these students and us locals either have to wait, arrive with no doughnuts left, And The school has reserved parking in the plaza just for their own use- such bs.
