Husband and I go here every saturday or sunday for our regular ham and cheese with jalapeno croissant and two iced coffees. It is a family owned business and they are so nice. The ham and cheese jalapeno croissants are out of this world and they have a great coffee selection. Parking isn't the best because it's small but you just have to be patient. Worth the hype and I hate to blow up the spot but they really deserve the good review. They have some seats outside as well for you to enjoy your donut. Service is great! read more

Came here because I've been looking for spots with blueberry fritter. There's card fee if you don't meet $5. It's like 35 cents or so. Taste was okay..not like what I had in Portland, OR. The blueberry flavor was lacking and too little blueberry fillings. It's pretty cheap though at a little under $4. Most of the other ones I've had in LA are over $5 each. SURFIN' DONUTS @ SAN CLEMENTE The parking lot here is very small, but there is free street parking available alongside the road. We arrived early around 9 AM, and most of the donuts were already selling out. There was a line out the door and parking was pretty packed, so I definitely recommend coming as early as you can. This spot has been a staple for my friends for years, so I finally had to try it out. Even though the line was long, it moved pretty quickly. The staff is super friendly, and all of the donuts are made fresh every single morning. They open around 4 AM and usually close once they sell out, typically before 2 PM. We ordered their iconic blueberry glazed donut, which is a must-try if you're a blueberry fan. Each donut was about two dollars, and we grabbed a few. They also offer breakfast sandwiches, donut holes, and tons of fun donut flavors to choose from. The inside and overall ambiance are more on the older side, it feels like a classic donut shop you and your family might've gone to years ago. They have some indoor seating, but most of the tables are outside. It's a great area to stop by, especially if you're on the way to San Clemente and want some yummy donuts. We ordered a maple bar, a chocolate raised doughnut, a glazed donut plus a chocolate and a vanilla old-fashioned, and a blueberry. All the donuts were good, but the blueberry was our least favorite. Honestly, it's been years since I've gone over to surfin donuts. A legendary place in town. Easy to get to off the five or El Camino Real. It does have parking although it can get filled up with people who park there that go over to SC Café. I came in today for two donuts and an iced coffee both were reasonably priced. They use Monin syrups. The cake crumb doughnut was delicious, light and crumbly. The service is really fast and friendly. Cool beach vibe classic donut shop place. Ham , cheese and jalapeño croissant was just made when I arrived, and fresh out of the oven- a little kick to it, but just the right amount of spicy! A good variety of hot coffee available, but they need more options besides regular sugar for sweetener. Love this spot so much. Every time we come down to San O to surf we always need to make a stop at surfin donuts. Amazing donuts, fresh oj, great espresso and coffee with lots of flavor options. What's not to love? Also be sure to try their ham and cheese bagels, they are amazing especially when fresh. They have a decently sized parking lot as well which is usually easy to get a spot. Okay, I love Apple fritters And my friend and I discovered we had this in common. She raved about this spot but I always forget when I'm driving by (from San Diego or Santa Barbara). Today she brought me one and oh myyyyyyyyy. She wasn't kidding. Sometimes you get Apple fritters that are doughy or gooey in the middle because they haven't cooked through and those are my least favorite. These are crunchy on outside and perfect on the inside. The best donuts. Period. Light, fluffy, sweet and not heavy on the tongue or in the stomach. If I lived in the area I woukd come here often. I live an hour away. Every single time I roll through the city, I make an extra stop off the highway and get the cinnamon roll, a milk and an orange juice. Then I hop back on the highway and indulge in my sweet delights. Oh you don't know? Fresh squeezed orange juice. I have no idea how they are able to always have sweet oranges. Here's some cautions for customers. One time I had a donut. A bee stinger was in the donut. It was stuck in the roof of my mouth for ten minutes. Fortunately, I had tweezers in the car and was able to pry it out! I had to take an ibuprofen because the roof of my mouth was tendet and swollen. Not even exaggerating! Actually quite annoyed with the flashbacks. On a recent visit, there were two bees flying in the donut hub. I mentioned this to the employee, I think the owner. Her response, "Shrugged shoulders and that bees were common." I'm confused. Don't people have fatal experiences with bees? Unless you have epinephrine near the donuts, this lackadaisical response concerns me. No signage for bee warning. No closed donut case for bee prevention. Interestingly, peculiar. And I will likely continue to come here because I'm impressed that they make the simple donut choices great again. read more

I've been coming here for many years as I used to live up the street so you can imagine the majority of the visits were in the early morning hours to cure that ever so much fun drunken crave of sugar as grease as they open at like 4am so when you come by then it's like a handful of what they have because everything's still being made but it's then that you get a warm grease sponge goodness to make it perfect! When I visit donut shops like this I usually keep it simple meaning I'll get a glazed or old fashioned or even the always yummy maple bar because you can't ever go wrong with the original choices especially the old fashioned one with the pink icing as that one always takes me back to when I was little! But what really stands out for me here is their delicious blueberry fritters that they only make on Sunday it's basically the same as the yummy apple fritter but in blueberry form and if you love those blue balls of yummy as much as I do then this is a must for you just try to get here early as they do sell out since it's only made one day a week! Such a cute donut shop right off the I5 in San Clemente. I have been wanting to try this place out for the longest time! We hike the ridgeline trail and always pass it on the way to park. We stopped here after hiking 4 grueling miles. What better way to re-fuel then Donuts and Smoothies!! We ordered 2 sprinkle donuts (for the babes), a blueberry donut, a fresh squeezed OJ, blended white mocha, and a mango smoothie. The donuts were extremely FRESH. There's nothing like a fresh baked, soft donut to start your day. I really enjoyed the blueberry donut. The OJ was OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD. They have the machine behind them where they extract the orange juice. Whatever oranges they use are superb because it's good quality juice. Our blended drinks were good as well, nothing spectacular, just your average blended drinks. I highly recommend if you are looking for a solid donut shop in this area. OMG! I am sad that I don't live close by to this classic donut shop. After a terrible stay at a nearby "hotel" that advertised a continental breakfast and didn't have anything, not even coffee. The Surfin Donut House made my day! I ordered a breakfast bagel with bacon, egg and cheese. It was made quickly and very delicious! Excellent fresh bagel and perfectly cooked bacon. If I lived close by I would be here quite often and it seemed that many do. I saw many people come for their donuts and drinks. Very popular place! Fast and friendly service. I also got a tasty hazelnut iced coffee and took a Sunday only blueberry fritter for my drive back to Las Vegas. I took a sample bite of the fritter and I nearly devoured it on the spot!
