In 2014, my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. I decided to make a documentary of my mom's and dad's lives while she could still recall stories. Very professional company from the very first interaction until the last. Price was more than fair when using the carousel option for having my slides scanned, and the quality looks great. Since I'm local, I wanted to drop off and pick up the slides when done, both to save time, cost, and the chance of damage during shipping. They were very easy to work with to allow this to happen. I've been a Scan My Photos customer for years but after my last experience, I am going to take my business elsewhere. If you have a set of pictures that are all the same size and fit neatly within their pre-paid boxes, then this is a great service that I highly recommend. However, if you require even the slightest modification, it's going to cost you... a lot. Read the fine print carefully. I did not realize that it would cost $88 PER BOX if it included pictures of varying sizes, which seems excessive. But it's in the fine print, so I guess I should have seen it. I had more pictures to scan than what would fit in the pre-paid boxes they sent me. Since I was leaving the country the next day, I called to see if they could purchase another batch and just have them email me a pre-paid mailing label that I could then take to the post office to send the photos in exactly the same size box as they use for the prepaid ones. The person I spoke with not only didn't want to accommodate my request (which seemed odd since I was trying to give them more business) but was downright rude. To be honest, I can't remember the last time I've had such a bad customer experience like this. Again, if you need a simple scan, these guys are fine but if you have even a slight variation to your order, watch out, it's going to be expensive and, at least with me, they don't have a "customer first" approach to their service. read more

We had a great experience. Chose their service where you pay for a box of photos to be scanned. We did 3 boxes. The quality seemed very good and downloading the electronic photos was easy. any questions we had were answered quickly via email. We paid for the service there they keep your photos right side up and 'in order'. Even though we didn't have the photos in order, that extra service allows you to have the photos a bit jumbled in terms of size and how they're put in so it was worth it. Keep an eye on their website for the going specials and discounts as they do have some from time to time. Start to finish was a few weeks as we didn't pay for the express. I know we've all had a hard year due to COVID, but let me tell you about mine. I lost my dad in February, and then my stepdad this July. My stepdad was a photographer, and he loved to take photos which I wanted to have memorialized forever. So while I was in St. Louis taking care of him in his final days of life I placed an order on ScanMyPhotos.com for a box to be sent to his house so that I could start packing it with some of his best shots. Except, I never received the box. He passed on July 28th and I left to go back home in early August, as I'd been uprooted from my life for a solid month. Unfortunately, my stepdad's photos wouldn't fit in my car since I didn't feel safe flying with my last living parent, a 68-year-old mother with congestive heart failure and dementia. I inquired with the company about the missing box and asked that since I never received a box in time and no longer had the photos, that they issue me a refund. Except, they were obstinate that they don't offer "refunds," that I am now on the hook for $180 for a box they supposedly sent that I never received. They said they would send another box, but I had already left St. Louis so if they sent a replacement I didn't receive it. I also explained that I don't have the photos anymore so sending a replacement box to me does nothing. I know it doesn't cost this company $180 to ship a box. I would have even been fine with just a partial refund because I ordered the box at my stepdad's house and only stayed for a few weeks so it's possible the box got there after I left which I understand. I'm so angry and upset due to my situation in general that I don't need an unscrupulous business to steal from me. I see quite a few 1-star reviews on here. If we banded together maybe we could make something happen legally and get our lost photos or a partial refund due to the unacceptable delays people are getting. My experience with Scan My Photos has been nothing but great, no matter who in the company I dealt with and Pam had to deal with me alot!!! My son Erik died from Fentanyl Poisoning in June 2020, he was 21yrs old. I had 1000's of photos in photo albums and wanted to get them scanned. For almost 2 yrs I sent questions the same questions over and over again, never once was there a rude reply or a read previous email for your answer.I made it very clear I did not want to send in mail only because if I lost these photos by some freak mishap with Postal Service, it may throw my completely over the edge. These photos are all I have left of my sons childhood.Although they no longer provide walk in service and I wanted to personally drop them off, I was told I could do so and to let someone know when I arrived and they would take them from me. Remember this is 2yrs of me asking this over & over again! It took me until Dec 2022 to finally gather all pictures and dropped them off because I couldn't finish packing them every time I started because I am still heartbroken and devastated that Erik is gone. I have had my package back for a few weeks plus. Everything was done in a timely manner, no issues and in my return package there was a personal item and note expressing their condolences for my loss from The Scan My Photos Crew. **GROUPON BUYERS BEWARE** This was a very confusing product and service, so I decided to schedule an in-person appointment with Customer Service to clarify details regarding Groupon deal specifics, packaging, and overall options. Though an appointment was SCHEDULED, I was quickly turned away by the lady representative, Pam (I believe), and was not treated with any sort of dignity, as a customer let alone even as a human. Instead of respecting the lengths I went to take time off work and drive down from Los Angeles County to Irvine, I was met with a harsh tone and was blamed for not reading the fine print and buying the wrong product. Overall, I was talked down to by a CS Rep, as all inquiries were deflected back at me, and was basically told to go away as the sliding screen was literally shut on me. When returning a few minutes later with a couple separate questions regarding the VHS transfers, the gentlemen, Logan (I believe) was able to help me with great customer service, and we were able to resolve certain questions that I had with no problems. A few days later, additional add-ons started to arise via follow-up emails... regarding scanning in order. For this particular one, it's fine. I did not organize the photos as requested, but that was why I scheduled the appointment. The entire quick and demeaning customer service by Pam caused me to leave in a hurry, feeling confused to why I purchased such a product. Needless to say... I approved the "scan in order" add-on for $24, via phone conversation with Logan. Because this was a fee that I was not expecting, I made specific efforts to clarify on the phone with the fellow on whether there were any other things that I might need to clarify, regarding the three boxes sent for service: 1) (2) Photo Boxes, 2) (1) Box of VHS tapes. A day or so AFTER that, I was hit with another update by Pam, saying that my 2nd box of photos would need that add-on, if those photos to return in any semblance of order. At this point, I KNEW that I organized the 2nd box with all similar 4x6" sizes... When replying to her (via email) acknowledging that I have already spoken with the fellow on the phone, she has sudden onset amnesia and can't recall which the male representative that could be. In person, she claims to be the manager + supervisor-- Now, either she refuses to be helpful to a TWICE paying customer**, or she doesn't know who is employed under her. I'm not sure which is worst, but there is absolutely something nefarious going on here. At this point, I realize that I've been scammed and taken advantage of. I would have gone to any of service in Los Angeles if I knew something as simple as scanning photos would be this ridiculously difficult, but I was fooled by the decent reviews online. Now with all this back and forth, I won't have anything ready for Father's Day. Thanks doodes. Overall - 0/10 for Pam, 8/10 for Logan. Now I'm certain that I won't even receive my family heirlooms back in one piece, because I don't even know who I sent my photos out to. WORST SCANNING COMPANY EVER!!! It all starts with Shannon, who claims to be the General Manager. She claims the owner, Mitch Goldstone, never comes into the office. Liar! (Just like Michael M. on 4/26/19 said: Shannon gets flustered, says I'm 'being rude' and HANGS UP ON ME!!!!!) Shannon said I was rude to ask for Mitch and hung up on me just the same. So I found Mitch's email and he responded. This was before the work was done. He was happy to help get himself another order by answering questions which Shannon (the supposed GM?!) refused to answer and was incapable of handling. After the scans were completed, there were serious problems and Mitch ignored every email since. Mitch only wants the order and your money, he has no interest in quality control And the quality is horrible. This is a very sloppy company and Mitch does not care. If he did care about quality, he would respond, and he does not. He is only after your money. As other reviews have pointed out, the 300 DPI option to get high-resolution scans is not high-resolution at all. Very low quality. They make you pay more to have high resolution and you get low quality. Here are the emails to Mitch. It says it all. And Mitch never responded to any of these emails! Mitch. You may care to know that Shannon is very proud of her 12 year stint with you and she acts quite pompous about it. And she claims that you never come to the office. When I asked how then do I speak you you, she said my asking such was rude and she slammed the phone on me. I cannot image that is good for business. Michael Mitch, Thought you may want to know that I got back my photos and many MANY of them were not scanned in the direction given. They are turned clockwise, then counterclockwise, for no apparent reason. Is it your intention that they are that sloppy? Michael Mitch, I have now been through the photos and I paid extra to have the photos organized by groups. In several cases, this did not happen. And a lot of photos are turned left, right and upside down. Very sloppy work! Michael Mitch, The more I look at this, the more of a mess it really is. Not just the photos scanned upside down and sideways, now I am finding that pictures are in the wrong categories. And some categories have no photos at all, just the header. I paid extra to have them in categories. And I paid extra to get both a CD and USB which was also not delivered. I want my money back and you should give my friend her money back as well for not delivering, or even caring as you seem to be ignoring the issues as you are ignoring my emails. Later I received a call back for a very rude and disrespectful person. She would not allow me to finish my question before she would start to give me what she presumed to be the answer. When I asked her to slow down and listen she hung up. She had no patience or time whatsoever to work with a new customer who has never used this kind of service in the past. I've been using ScanMyPhotos for probably 15 years off and on. Always fast, always originals returned just like I sent them in. When my wife's mother passed, I took on the task of scanning her photos -- 28 albums, thousands of pictures. And every single head of household in her family got a memory stick with ALL of the pictures. No splitting up of the albums, everybody has everything and it will never be lost because they are in many places. My wife's father had 4000 pictures loose in drawers, my mother had a dozen albums. Everything scanned and distributed...I lived in Houston for 40 years and went through half a dozen hurricanes, other family lies in tornado country, other people have had house fires. The service for scanning photos was very prompt and pricing was very reasonable if you get one of their special deals. However, I was disappointed with the quality of their scans at 300 dpi. I am able to get better scanner from my HP All-in-one printer without any adjustments to brightness, contrast, or color saturation. Their images are not as sharp and lack contrast compared to the my HP scans. When I complained, Shannon told me she disagreed and that that the best that they can do. read more

I purchased two Groupons for scanning 1000 4X6 photos figuring I would use it to deal with my late mother's horde of photos. I contacted Scanmyphotos and they made it easy to upgrade to "any size" photos for an additional $20/ 1000. The whole thing cost me $108.98 and they did a fantastic job. Considering the age and condition of the photos (a good many of the 60+ years old) the processing was first rate. And the photos were very well packed for their return to me. This is really a great option when you want to share old photos with family and friend all over the world. Overall I'm very happy with this service and I will recommend them in the future. read more

I have had about 5,000 photos scanned by them in 4 batches and have also recommended them to about 10 friends. The first three batches were scanned at 300 dpi and outside of a couple of photos that were not scanned completely, the scanning was very good. (It's worth paying to have them sorted). The updates on the packaging and the mailing process are also good. I'm not giving them 5 stars, because on the last batch I upgraded to the 600 dpi. Many of the photos show diagonal banding in the shadow areas. When I reached back to them, they advised first that there was no issue and then that the issue was caused by the fact that the photos had a matte finish and they could not help. In fact, some, but not all of the 1204 pictures had a matte finish and the glossies had the same issue. I do not know if upgrading to 600 dpi made this become more visible. Note that I have a 4K monitor, so that may also make the banding more visible. The first picture attached is split and shows home scanning at 600 dpi on left, Scan My Photos on right. Second one shows original scan from Scan My Photos. This is just an example photo of a broader issue. It's a subtle issue that may not be obvious given size of picture in review, but one I wish they had warned about in advance. read more

I took advantage of the Black Friday offer of this company. They give you 30 days to get the photos together. Unfortunately, that was Christmas day. On top of everything else, COVID, Christmas, family, etc, I had to come up with the photos to send to them. Very excited to finally get this done so I could see them without putting them in books which I would probably rarely look at. Mailed them (had already paid the fee). I get a message from a bot?? that said they were not sorted so the price would be 7x the original price. This is a SCAM. I am VERY disappointed. I would not recommend using this company for anything. I have asked for the photos back and refund of the money I paid. We will see if it happens. Meanwhile, I will find a reputable place close to home that will do a quality job. read more

So would have been an overall good experience, but they did not deliver what was promised and when I contacted them to resolve the issue the customer service supervisor denied wrongdoing and hung up when asking questions about info on website. Essentially they did not fulfill the order and the website clearly states all photos would be uploaded. The supervisor said there is a 2 MB limitation, but when asked if that was sent she said I don't know and hung up. Will be disputing part of the charges of their services. Update: after the unprofessional supervisor hung up on me, she must have had a change of heart, as I did receive a link to the uploads to my remaining pictures within 30 minutes. read more

This company is awesome. I received a disc last June and never had a chance to add to my photos until October of this year. After inserting the disc, I could not get my computer to read the disc. I called them and spoke with Shannon. She graciously offered to send me another disc but also sent the 1009 photos through email. I got them within a few minutes and was able to add to my photos. Gathered all the old photo albums shoved in the back of a closet, removed all the pics and sent them to SMP. About 3,500 of them. They gave detailed packing & shipping information which we followed. They did an incredible job and we are so pleased. All during the process, they sent automated e-mails explaining the phase from sending us a shipping box to a tracking number for their return to us. They also offer other related services like uploads, wands, special grouping. I would highly recommend this service and digitizing your old photos. Its advertised as one of the cheapest photo scanning services on the internet. There's a reason for that. If you don't package your photos PERFECTLY to their expectations they will DOUBLE your fee. The instructions said to group them in stacks of 100 by size. I did that to the best of my ability but my pictures were all different sizes so the stacks werent perfectly all the same size. They contacted me and said I had to pay double the cost because I didn't stack them by size even though I did. If I wanted to cancel the service I had to pay shipping to send the pics back. So what should have cost me around $100 cost me $200. So be weiry when using this service. If you can't package your photos in perfectly equal sized stacks, then dont choose this company. Only reason I gave them 2 stars is because my photo scans did come out ok (they better for twice the cost). read more

The job I requested was to have about 750 slides scanned and put on a CD and flash drive. I left 1 star off only because they did not meet the original time frame that was given to me (4 to 6 weeks) and they did not proactively contact me to let me know. I called them after 7 weeks to find out what was going on. So, they weren't "perfect". That said, when I did call they sincerely apologized without making excuses - explanations, yes, but not framed as excuses, which you don't come by too much anymore. In addition, they immediately gave me a 20% discount which shocked me because I wasn't even coming in hot and complaining. They provided me a new completion date and ultimately finished about a week early. When I got home and meticulously went through the slides, 1 had not been scanned because it was damaged. However, it was a really good photo so I really wanted it on digital. Plus, when I had picked up the completed job they told me there had been no problems and all went well. In other words, there was no mention of this slide they were unable to process. I called them to let them know and asked what could be done. Long story short, they processed it for free and did it on the spot. I also want to commend them on their interactions with me. I dealt with 3 different people during this process (Gareth, Dave, and a lady on the phone). All were super and really personable. I have to give Gareth special kudos for patience. We needed photo scanning for a memorial service. They did it in 2 hours since we were in a hurry. So helpful.

This place is to be avoided. First off they require a $20 deposit and I found out they actually charged my card $21.90 That's a scam. I called and then they babbled that they charged me tax on postage, they charged me tax on signature confirmation (something that the post office does, but I pay for and is non-taxable) They sure loved to charge tax everywhere they could even on items that were not taxable. Yet STILL I could never get it to add up to the invoice amount. I asked to talk to supervisor and they kept transferring me to a generic non/name voicemail. I called back and they would pick up phone and hang up to disconnect the call. Avoid this place. They are dishonest - chargeing your card amounts unauthorized and also tax every item on the list including postage costs, yes they tax THAT. They need the $$ apparently. They could use manors in customer service. Picking up the ringing phone and then slamming it down to avoid talking isn't a good way to promote business. They didn't even attempt to deny it when I called him back and told him I didn't appreciate that kind of behavior. They over charged me and I am going to call back until this is resolved. read more

Bait and Switch. Bought a groupon for Scanmyphotos. After sending my photos and Groupon to Scanmyphotos, I was told that my Groupon was expired and Scanmyphotos would not honor it. Scanmyphotos was happy to charge hundreds of dollars more than the Groupon price, however. I asked Groupon to intervene. Groupon was useless. I paid $25 for the Groupon, $20 to send photos to Scanmyphotos and was charged another $20 to return my unscanned photos. I'm out $65. I won't do business with Scanmyphotos or Groupon again. I do not recommend Scanmyphotos. read more

My wife tried to have our pictures scanned by them. We purchased a coupon from Groupon and they did not honor it. First because the pictures were not sorted properly, so they sent the envelope back. We then sorted and batched the pictures as requested. Since we were in the area (a doctors office two doors down) we decided to drop them off, NOPE! We can only accept your order via the mail. We went home and mailed them, NOPE, your coupon has expired! read more

Couldn't agree more with the kudos for Shannon in customer service -- helped us with a problem we had and was super nice. I've used this service before and love the quality of the slide scans. A bit pricey, but they do a very good job. read more
