I love the straight lines of the furniture. The salespeople are helpful without being pushy. They don't "follow you around" while you're just trying to slowly browse, but are available for all questions, and will show you around if that's your preference. I purchased a dining room table and four chairs there in 2010 at the Temecula store. Unfortunately, the chairs wore out due to the bonded leather eventually peeling on the wrapped legs. I recently replaced those chairs with four more of a different style from Scandinavian Designs in Irvine. They look smashing with the table and I believe these will last. Very good furniture. If you like the ikea style, but are ready to move up to nicer quality pieces and more sophisticated options, this is the place to check out. It's surprisingly not as expensive as it looks. Their high end full grain leather furniture is of course expensive, but you can get a great couch for a grand if you go with something basic. Really like their furniture and up until today I had a positive impression. My experience today changed my mind. I bought some throw pillows at the end of October for a little used sofa. One pillow separated at the seam and I brought it in hoping that they would replace it. Nope - not happening. So for an $18 pillow they have lost a customer. Too bad. read more

For years, we purchased from Plummers, now Sandinavian Designs for the great quality and classy taste. Today, I had another great experience. Steve, the manager, went out of his way to help me. I loved a clearance stool, but it was the last one. I needed three of them. Steve looked on line, called other stores, when he found one , he asked the other store to text him a picture to see the condition of the "as is" stool for me. If it was a $5000 sofa, I would expect that excellent service. BUT Steve worked for a long time for my $89 stool. Thank you Plummers, thank you Steve, A+ customer service. Scandinavian Designs in Irvine is our favorite furniture store! First of all, the clean, modern designs of their furniture enable pieces to fit beautifully into your current space even if your style is more traditional. And it's refreshing to have real wood tables (unless you prefer their beautiful glass designs!). We purchased two wood tables that extend on both ends by pulling out attached wood end extensions - just one or both of them - no storing of leaves under the tables' centers or elsewhere! And we bought chairs that are comfortable and that swivel - the delivery crew added chair pads to avoid scratching our new floors. And the delivery crews were always timely, polite, masked, efficient and added to our satisfaction with our overall experience. Prices are very reasonable for the great quality and the sales staff is not pushy, very respectful and friendly and masked. We will be buying more furniture from Scandinavian Designs in Irvine and we highly recommend them! P.S. Scandinavian Designs does have other locations, but I think Irvine might be one of the larger showrooms. That also have a good website if you prefer to order that way. read more

I purchased a very large painting, 5'x7', and scheduled to pick it up when I was going to rent a uhaul anyway. When I got it home and unpacked it, it had different colors than the one in the store. I called Jonathan and he said to bring it back and he would let me take the one at the store. All the staff were so accommodating and helpful! After looking at several other stores for living room end tables, I just purchased 2 from Scandinavian and am so happy with the quality and look. If you the ability to pick up items yourself, it saves the delivery fee and they will have it to the store by Friday of the week for pick up. I like the no pressure sales people! read more

I just had bedroom and living room furniture from Plummers delivered and installed, and I decided to write a review since I am a *very* happy camper. The Irvine Plummers is huge, with lots of selection. I love the modern look of their furniture. When you go, ask for Julie. She's the salesperson who helped me, and she was incredibly professional and helpful. She gave me space to look around, while always being available to answer all my questions patiently and thoroughly. Even when I called later to change from store-pickup to delivery, she was again very helpful, taking the time to explain the various details. I visited numerous furniture stores in the past few months, and Julie is definitely a cut above others. Great quality furniture at really reasonable prices- my wife and I picked out a beautiful white bedroom set - made in Italy and you can feel the quality. These guys have awesome modern looking furniture which I am very satisfied with. What I do have a gripe about is there customer service. Sales staff is stone cold, not even a smile. Be careful not to buy furniture from this store. The salesperson doesn't know what he is talking about and purely deceiving and dishonest. I bought a furniture with a partial credit for a defective merchandise. I ask the Indian salesperson of was dealing with us if they can pick up the defective item when they deliver the new sofa. He adamantly said NO and they don' t want it. He also said that if he can convince the delivery company, I have to pay an additional $95.00. I told him I don't want to pay the $95.00 just to get rid of a defective sofa that they sold me. I decided to just donate it to Goodwill so that they can fix it and then sell it. When they delivered the new sofa they said they want the old sofa. When I reminded them of the previous conversation they became upset and insistent to get the old sofa. The talked to the salesperson over the phone and he denied the previous agreement. This shows how UNPROFESSIONAL the people working in this company are. Deceitful and dishonest. read more

We purchased a very large sectional sofa from this store. It is red leather in a beautiful modern red I got to pick out myself from a large selection. It was a 4 month wait to arrive and worth it. We use the reclining sofa seats every single day. It's been over a year and it barely looks used at all. I have 3 teens who stretch out on this sofa and do their homework or watch TV. It's the centerpoint of the room. Plus, we purchased a fun, large round rotating sofa chair in black to go beside it. The salesman was great and let me take all the time I needed to price and look and decide. We went through all the options and it took a few visits to the store. They are professional and the quality is top notch. They have showroom pieces, or you can custom order like I did. read more

First of all, this is great store: very nice furniture and very good prices. We love it. And made several good purchases there in the past. Now, I would like to explain what makes me write this and put one star only. In two words: RUDE AND INCOMPETENT EMPLOYEE (name: Bernice Romero) We came to the store today to buy a rug. We new exactly what we wanted b/c we spoke previously to a couple of salesmen and also checked the website. So, we came in and went directly to the salesmen/cashier area. We asked if we could get a discount b/c all rugs had a label that said something about 25% off. The girl that answered said in a very rude way that we couldn't. My husband and I joked a little about that special condition and said that it was OK and that we wanted it anyway. She started looking for the rug in her catalog, didn't find it (although other people who had helped us several days earlier had had no problems). She threw the catalog to us and went to check the label on the rug that was on the floor. She came back and said that that was the only size which was wrong. When we pointed that out. She started contradicting and raising her voice even more and asking whom we had spoken to, as if it mattered. It all looked like she was fighting with us and wanted to get rid of us which she almost did. I am seven months pregnant and I was already shaking and really wanted to walk away to avoid the stress. She ended finding out that she was wrong and, without even apologizing, barked at us: "So, you want it in 8 x10?". At that moment, both of us decided that we had had enough and we asked to speak to someone else... End of story: we bought the rug, were helped at the end by a nice adequate person, but were so disturbed but what had happened that we decided to write this review. We hope that the store does something about this. read more

They have essentially raised their prices over the last few months anywhere from 20 or more percent. Even with their "sales", items cost more after discount than they did in the Spring. Spend your dollar at Room and Board or Crate and get the integrity you deserve from a furniture supplier. read more

Amazing customer service!! My 90 year old dad wanted to replace his stressless chair. The new one was too hard for him to push back, only because it was new and the mechanism was stiff. I contacted the store and Brian kindly drove over to my dad's house after work to fix it. The next day he allowed me to exchange the chair for one with a looser mechanism. Because it was the floor model he even gave me a discount. Brian went way beyond his job description to make sure my dad was comfortable. read more

Good service in-store: if you like to be left alone to browse, but can easily find staff to assist or answer questions, this is the place. They were very pleasant and accomodating when I had ordered and paid, but while still in-store, saw a piece I preferred, and changed my order. Good delivery experience at a reasonable price. HORRIBLE customer service from the time we made our purchase to the time we made our return. For some reason, the employee resented us from the beginning, as if we were doing her a disservice by being making the purchase. We came back later in the week to pick up our items, and she had ordered the wrong thing!! Last, when we came back to return the items, we were charged a restocking fee although we brought it back in PERFECT CONDITION. The same girl was there when we made our return, and again with the attitude and resentment. The manager was also helpless and clueless... perhaps recently promoted? The stock room clerk was also shady. The worst was the "B" in the sales room, though. I will never shop there again and strongly recommend others to stay clear!!! read more

We purchased several items from Peter Sorensen at the Irvine store and we will be returning for more! The product designs are great; the selection of colors and leather is extensive. And, you can't find the same quality anywhere for a better price. The best thing is that Peter went far and above our expectations to make sure we picked items we would be happy with and that the items were delivered in perfect condition. We found a small defect on one custom ordered sofa after having it for a few weeks. Peter said her would do anything we wanted to make it right. He replaced it with a higher quality one and he lets us keep the first one until the new custom order arrived so we would not have an empty space in our home for 6 weeks while they made the new one. Peter said his job did not end with the sale. He wanted us to be happy with our furniture for the rest of our lives! Nobody does a better customer service than this!! Don't buy from anyone else! Four stars for the furniture, quality, price, and layout of store. BUT, this particular store is in dire need of better customer service. We ended up purchasing some furniture from this location but regretted not ordering it from a different store. The salesperson who "helped" us was rude with his responses to our questions (ie "Is the frame made of particle board?"), and gave us the impression that he was giving us his time because he wanted his commission but would rather be doing something else. The other employees weren't much better..... I like Plummers/Scandenavian Designs but I certainly will try another location before going back to this store. read more

You should definitely go to Julie Prado if you're looking for someone who is friendly, patient, not pushy, and knows practically everything about the furniture there. You know how some salespeople only know the bare minimum about the items they sell, most of which you could read yourself from the tags provided? Well, not Julie--she answered all of our questions about furniture quality, brands, customization, and when we couldn't find the exact model of couch we wanted, she gave us great recommendations as to similar designs and material from other brands. Pick-up was a breeze. The only downside is that the furniture is a bit pricier and there isn't a discount on floor models or buying items in bulk, and some items not in stock you do have to wait several weeks for. Love that they are carrying on with the "Danica House" style designs. Had bought pieces from them in the past and Scandinavian Designs has pieces that go well with them. Bought a few dressers and a fold out bed with the memory foam mattress that does not feel like a fold out at all. The staff is great. They were incredibly helpful in giving us design ideas and really helping us decide on a 'design direction'. Our place looks much better because of the time they spent with us. We were on a quick timeline, and they went out of their way to make sure our items arrived when promised.
